Chapter Text

Perseus Jackson was four years old when his momma died. Sally Jackson was a mere brush of a memory. The sound of her voice a soft and distant song that lingered in the deepest corners of his mind. Her smiles shrouded by blurred edges. The foster system placed him with his next living relative, in Gotham City, New Jersey. That was how Percy gained a new momma, a new deadbeat dad, and an eight year old brother, at the age of four.

Catherine Todd was kind, when she was sober. Willis reminded Percy of faint memories of smelly Gabe. Jason- well, Percy couldn't help but look at the older like he hung the sun and the stars.

He wasn't always the best at expressing himself with words, but alley kids had always been better with actions than words. Percy had countless memories of Jason's silent but steady care.

Jason who would purposely take fault for Percy's mistakes. Jason, who would cover Percy’s ears when Willis got loud. Jason, who read him books, because Percy was hopelessly illiterate, and no amount of attempted teaching from Jason or Catherine (when she was lucid) seemed to help.

Shortly after Willis Todd was arrested for child abuse, Catherine's health declined faster. Jason picked up smoking by the time he turned ten. Percy at six years old, watched his new momma slowly wither away from illness and drug abuse. Percy watched as Jason grew more and more desperate to keep everyone afloat.

At six years old, Perseus Jackson-Todd snuck out of their run down, moldy apartment in search of a solution to save his new family.

At six years old, Perseus Jackson-Todd was last seen on the fourth of December, in the chilly winds and heavy snow of Gotham City, New Jersey.
