Chapter 1: Harsh hit

Chapter Text

He knew what he did was wrong. Reki. Pushed through the hospital's doors getting onto his board as he began to skate through the carpark. He broke Miya's promise, the poor boy didn't deserve anymore heartbreak. The family he found within ‘S’ will hate him now certainly, for how he treated Miya… for how he's treating Langa. He pushes onto the road. “Langa…” he mutters to himself looking down at his board. The world went white, he wonders if that's how Langa is feeling…

—------------

It was such a thrill to drive himself around. Ainosuke glanced in his mirror, quickly grooming his blue locks back into his hair. Now's not a suitable time for him to become Adam, or so he thought…
Admittedly Ainosuke wasn't exactly driving at the speed limit but it was late at night normally there aren't boys skating across the road without checking. Thinking of what the press may think of him if this became public, he stepped out of his car.

Heavy raindrops harassed him and the boy he hit. Ainosuke knelt down to see who it was, and to his surprise saw little red lay there. “Ah what a nice surprise you are!” He picks the body up admiring Reki's damaged body. “Moi and my Eve will certainly have a beautiful match now!” He spins around Reki's unconscious body. “I wouldn't want to ruin the surprise now, would i?” And so he tosses the body into the back seat before climbing back into the car.

–-----------

Reki awoke somewhere unfamiliar. He lay on a tiled floor, he would say it's expensive but it's not to his knowledge to judge. As he started to rise his body wanted to collapse back in on himself. And so, since he didn't want to lay around helplessly, he inspected himself. He still wore the same outfit as the night before, just now they were covered in dried up dirt and felt damp, he can't remember it raining at all. He began to focus on where it hurt, his side was straining and felt bruised when he brung a hand to touch it. Still on his left side, he had noticed a lot of bruising on his arm and leg- was he hit by something? Must've been big, was it at ‘S’?... oh right he gave his badge in. He knows now.

In an aim to distract himself Reki looks up and around. He was on the same wall as a wooden door, with hopeful thinking he placed his ear to the wall. However there wasn't any sign of the outside world, in fact he couldn't hear anything out there. At the other end of the room Reki saw dozens of monitors all of which are currently showing different places at ‘S’. Each camera shows the brown dusty floor, the tarnishes their skate boards left, every corner, every straight away, it'd be perfect for someone to watch the races privately and find the best strategies. Yet it felt uncanny, Reki had never seen ‘S’ so empty before. In fact, who would have this view? Maybe Cherry or Joe, they are some of the best and the founders. But then why would they use this? Cherry could just use Carla to calculate his roots and Joe has enough raw muscle to get through anything thrown at him.

Reki attempted to reach out to the monitors, perhaps to get to the incredibly comfortable looking chair in front of them, however he was quickly reminded of the throbbing pain on his left side. Still Rekis determined to get to comfort, the chair had wheels so he could push himself out with it, so he lay on his stomach and used his right arm to slowly pull himself across the floor. After being awake for this long Reki realised the room is rather dark, only the monitors lit up the surroundings with a faint blue. Still, Reki continues to slowly, but successfully, shimmy himself across the floor.

He reached his right arm up feeling it strain his left side. His right hand successfully lay flat on the chair yet as he tried to use it to get on his knees he accidentally pushed it away and hit his chin. His fire was still bright, so he tried again after sliding over. And again when attempting the same method. By the time Reki got onto the chair he was back on the other side of the room.

This time he heard something, they made noise except their shoes tapping across an assumingly wooden floor. Not wanting to risk being seen Reki pushed the chair along the wall into the corner and spun the back to face the rest of the room. After fiddling with the handle, the door was opened, Reki didn't see who entered but what he did see was the light from the door. After hearing the person walk towards the monitors Reki made a dash for the door, reaching his arm out and pulling himself and the chair he sat on out the door.

He found himself in a rather barren hallway, yet he had no time to think about his surroundings just left or right. He saw a man in a suit walk down the right side so he pushed off left. Feeling the air run past his face yet hit him in the back as it circled through the chair. Is this how Miya felt? To finally push through his traumas, find friends, find family only for his brother to hit him in the back and run away. He shouldn't have ran, why must he be so selfish? As soon as he got out of here Reki would find some way to get back to Miya, do anything to make it up to his little brother. Perhaps Miya could help him with his, admittedly complicated, feelings towards Langa. He can't remember the last time they had a personal conversation. Reki breathes in vowing to make things right with Miya before reaching his arm out to try and speed up the chair to get out of here faster.

Reki was fairly certain pushing the wall speeds up the chair, so how come he had in fact stopped moving. When did he stop moving? Then it occurred, there was a man who had already been walking down the hall before Reki. “Well how long are you going to stare into space for? Did I really scare you that much?” Reki knew that hideous voice in an instance. The recovered pain in his neck begins to throb again, his memory's flashing before him, flying over Adam only barely scratching the man's face before hitting the ground shoulders first.

Reki grunted and tried to push the chair along again, unfortunately Adam's grip was too strong. “How surprising, you know from what I've seen you're normally far more of a talker.” A careful gloved hand made its way down the chair dancing towards Reki's upper chest. Reki scowled at the hand and instinctively bit. Adam pulled his hand away, "Feisty aren't you~” Reki looked up to face the man.

Adams hair appeared well groomed for once, brushed back and silky it reminded Reki if a politician he once saw in the Tv. Adam bore his usual white mask, hiding his face from the world as usual. “Have you fallen for me or something? You've been staring for a mighty awfully long time.” Adams' words made Reki feel sick to his stomach. “I'm 16.”
“How come the first words out of your mouth are so spiteful?”
His chair was spun around to face Adam.
“How come you pry on minors?”
Adam looked down at Reki hatefully before silently walking behind the chair and starting to push it. “What does little Langa even see in you? I mean you know he could do far better than you, right? If I were you I'd keep well away from Langa, you're dragging his image down.”

Before Reki could conjure up a response he was dumped off the chair back into the corner he woke up in. He spun around on the floor to look back up at Adam. Behind Adam a man dressed in a grey suit with dark groomed hair was pushing the chair back to its spot. “So little Red are we going to answer me or will I have to make you answer?”
“Well first off I didn't go all creepy with Langa upon meeting him. I treated him with respect.”
“Wow so sassy, perhaps I should just keep you. Might be some fun entertainment”
“I don't understand you”
“Its hard to understand greatness I know”
“That's odd, I understand myself pretty well.”
“Why you little brat.”

–-------

It's been hours, after Adam had slapped Reki across the face he sat on the chair and watched videos of Langa skating non stop. Reki could've sworn he's seen each of these clips a thousand times by now. Hes unsure what to feel, impressed by Adams dedication to his pervertedness or creeper out over it. “So is staring at Langa all you do? All day everyday?” Reki snorted out honestly sick of Adam.
“I didn't ask for your commentary.” Adam growled back, his voice was sharp and the air suddenly went thick. Reki wanted to retort but the words were stuck in his throat, so he just sat there.

Another hour passed and Reki was just sat there.
Another hour past and Reki remained in the same place
Another hour passed and he felt his eyes getting heavy
Another hour past and the boy was now asleep leaned against the wall

–-----

Adam glanced back curious about why the boy was so quiet. “Hm? Sleeping now are we?” He spoke eerily gently as he crept towards Reki. “I don't recall giving you permission.” He towered over the boy. “I suppose you're cute for the apple” He stroked Reki's face, running his fingers along the chin, down his neck and pausing there. “So vulnerable, what if I just killed you now? You really aren't great with survival are you.” He removed his hands from the sleeping body. “You are very lucky you're of use to me.” And with that he walked out shutting the door behind him

-------

Bored. That's all Reki if bothered to feel. Stuck in a dark room with the door locked, what is he supposed to feel? If he felt fear he may as well succumb to Adam and Reki most certainly didn't want to do that.
To combat his boredom and desire to skate he did the only active thing he could think of, lay on the ground and roll around. And so he did it, all alone in the darkness rolling until he felt tired enough to sleep again.

Unfortunately his bliss had to be interrupted when light flooded the room. Reki looked up to a man who was thankfully not Adam. The brown haired man just looked down with what could only be disappointment. Only after being stared down with those sharp green eyes did the man pick Reki up and place him in the chair. “Thank you?” Was all Reki could say with an edge of curiosity. “So like who are you?”
“I need you to quit skating” the man's voice was firm and clearly rehearsed.
“Hm odd name, but i suppose free will and all that- im Reki as you most likely know if you work for Adam.”
“Im being serious, you don't want to skate. It'll ruin your reputation, you won't have a fair chance in society. Just pick a safer sport like baseball, one where you'll have a team and be respected.”
“I have a team in skating…” Reki looked down, reflecting on how he's treated that team. “I have a family in skating, skating is- it's everything to me. I want nothing more than to skate with them forever, infinitely, that's what skating is about, isn't it?” A fire light back up inside him, the burn the ache the longing and drive were finally back. He wanted nothing more than to apologise and skate it out with everyone.
“I see, all you skaters are idiots”
“Idiots that have eachother.”
The man stood up fully preparing to leave.
“WAIT!”
The man paused. “What?”
“Keep me company atleast im bored out of my mind!”
The man hesitated before turning around, “Tadashi”
“Is that your name then? Come on let's play together!”

A few hours passed, Adams walked in rather amused to his dog playing connect four so intensely with Reki. How amusing this boy was, maybe it would be useful to keep him…
