Work Text:
It was all supposed to just be a simple shopping trip at the mall, or as simple as it could've been with the bakusquad. And it started out that way for the most part. The mall was crowded, as expected for a nice sunny, Saturday afternoon. There were little kids running around without their parents, people walking out with arms full of bags, and there was the bakusquad at the food court with Mina and denki loudly debating whether or not the ocean clarified as a soup.
A normal meet up in all honesty.
Shinsou had started tagging along a few weeks ago, all do to denkis insistence. He wouldn't have assumed that the loud Pikachu lookalike would be this persuasive. Either that or the adorable look he got on his face when he looked at him. The way he seemed to visibly brighten as soon as shinsou came in his line of sight. His smile that almost never seemed to leave his face. God he loved his boyfriend.
Plus the bakusquad wasn't as bad as people made it out to be. The way people talked about it you would have thought it was a gang, but in all actuality it was just six hero course students doing dumb ass shit. The other day he watched as they, very poorly mind you, attempted to skateboard.
Down a stairwell in UA.
None of them knowing how to skateboard.
They were just lucky none of them got seriously hurt, all besides kiri of course. It was a very shocking discovery to find. Kaminari, Mina, sero and kirishima? Sure, he could see them doing stuff like that. But bakugo and jirou? Never in a million years would he expected to watch fly down a flight of stairs on a skateboard and land on a mattress. He still had no idea where they eventually got it from. It was far to big to be from the infirmary.
Mina and kaminaris debate grew more heated with his boyfriends grip on his hand tightening and jirou quietly giggling beside him. Kirishima and bakugo didn't seem to pay them any attention as the two talked, the two periodically eating a Takoyaki from their shared to go container.
Over all an average day with the bakusquad.
For as much as he complained whenever kaminari would "forse" him to tag along he always found himself actually having fun by the end, disappointed whenever it ended.
His therapist said it was just him warming up to the idea of having friends he said it was the emotional manipulation of his boyfriend, his puppy dog eyes and look of pure joy whenever he agreed to go with.
"Denki, the ocean isn't even hot, how could it be a soup!? Aren't most soups hot?!" Mina exclaimed, throwing her hands up.
"Not all soup has to be hot!" He yelled back, slamming his free hand on the table wincing when he felt just how sticky the table was.
"Watch it dunce face!" Bakugo yelled, shedding his drink that had almost fallen over. Denki only stuck his tongue out, glaring like a toddler. "put that damn thing back in your mouth before I rip it out!" Bakugo growled, watching in satisfaction as denkis eyes widened. His tongue shooting back in his mouth.
Chuckling, shinsou rubbed his thumb over the back of his hand comfortingly. Smiling, denki, seemingly done debating with Mina, rested his head on shinsous shoulder, cheek pressed against him. Mina giggled next do denki watching the boy, who used to be all over the girls finally find his match that just so happened to be a man. Ironic huh?
Out of the corner of his eye, shinsou saw mina take her phone out and "secretly" take a picture of the two. He didn't mind honesty, hell he'd probably ask her to send the picture to him. They'd been dating for a few months at this point yet he still found it hard to believe he was actually dating denki. He felt as if he were the luckiest man in all of UA.
He smiled softly before it fell as he looked behind mina at the crowd forming around the main entrance to the mall.
"Whats going on?"
"What is this?"
"Why can't we leave?!"
The commotion dragged the rest of the groups attention to the crowd, equally as confused. Deciding to check it out the group grabbed their stuff and made their way over to the front, the crowd growing.
"Excuse me?" Kirishima began, tapping a woman on her shoulder gently, "what's going on?".
"I-I dont know but somethings stopping us all from leaving." She answered, fear writen all over her face.
"Dont worry ma'am, we'll figure everything out." Jirou smiled, making her way into the crowd everyone following behind her. The crowd was so compact there was barely any room to breathe as they moved closer and closer to the front. If it bothered anyone they didn't seem to show it, well except for shinsou who silently reached out and took denkis hand as they moved. Instead of focusing on the environment he focuses on that small amount of contact hopping to calm himself down.
Once they managed to get to the entrance they were surprised to find, not a simple barrier or even cops holding them all back but a pink bubble wall looking thing blocking the exit.
"The hell?!" Bakugo groaned, placing a hand on the barrier. Despite it's appearance it didn't even bend it sat ferm, not relenting. One of jiros ear jacks tapped on the wall, no noice coming from it.
"Dont worry i got this!" Kirishima exclaimed, the skin on his hands and forearm hardening, "stand back!" Quickly the people shuffled back, finally giving them breathing room. Winding back his fist he slammed it into the barrier only for a loud bang to eco through the mall, the barrier still standing strong. "What is this thing made of?" He groaned, dropping his hand down to his side.
Walking over, shinsou placed his hand on the barrier. It didn't feel like anything, it was as if he were simply touching air. Glancing back he saw the panic in the mall rising the crowd haven grown. Grabbing his phone he was just about to call Mr Aizawa only for him to have no signal.
"Ok change of plans, let's split up. Half of us should stay here and keep everyone calm the rest go to the security room and see if this is some kind of security mechanism."
After thinking for a minute denkis face lit up. "Do you think they'd let us barrow some instruments?" He asked, pointing over at a music store.
"And why do you need instruments?" Mina said, jirou seemingly understanding what denki was getting at.
"We can distract them with music!" Jirou exclaimed, looking over at denki and mina. "The three of us could stay here, me and denki can play the guitar and mina can dance"
"Yep!" Denki smiled, "and those three can get to the security room."
"Come on, we don't got all day!" Bakugo yelled, hands stuffed in his pant pockets as he walked off. Nodding the two followed, shinsou looking back at the three who were running tords the store.
❀𔘓˚ ཐི⋆৻ꪆ⋆ཋྀ ˚𔘓❀
It seemed that jirou, denki, and mina had managed to convince the store workers to lend them the guitars as the light sound of them playing echoed throughout the mall. At least that part was going according to plan.
"look kids, i can't just let you into the security room." A security guard sighed, leaning against a wall able to look down at the lower floor. Before bakugo could go and blow the guy's head off kirishima stepped in, hand resting on his shoulder.
"Well if we cant go in could you answer a few questions about the system for us?" Kirishima smiled, trying to make himself look as innocent as possible for a 5"7 teen who looked like he ate bricks for breakfast. The guard looked at the three like they were about to jump him, reaching down tords his tazer.
"We're from UA" shinsou began, the mans hand freezing right before he grabbed the tazer. "We only want to see if the barrier keeping everyone inside the mall is a security thing or not." He explained, shoulders relaxing as the mans hand dropped to his side.
"What barrier? The mall doesn't have a barrier." He explained, looking at them like they were insane.
"Well now there is, and no one can leave." Bakugo snapped, crossing his arms over his chest.
"And all contact is cut off, there's no service in here" shinsou added. The guards eyebrows nit together in concern, before groaning.
"I swear i never get told anything in this damn place," he muttered, "follow me, it probably is some kind of new thing upper management didn't tell the staff about." At that he began walking away and down a corridor. The further they went the quieter the music got, a pit forming in shinsous stomach, for some odd reason he didn't want the comfort of the music gone.
And once the security door closed behind the four of them it was completely cut off. It was dark with about a dozen monitors on the wall. They didn't seem to have audio as one of them showed the mini concert their friends were performing.
Kirishima and bakugo, mostly kiri, were busy talking with the guard as he simply watched the screen. The only other time he'd seen denki play a guitar was during last years festival for their concert and even then he stayed tords the back and hadn't actually seen it all that well. He smiled slightly watching as denki and jirou played, smiling and laughing as they watched mina break dance in between them. The crowd wasn't panicking anymore, all attention on the three of them.
"Eyebags!" Bakugo yelled, snapping shinsous attention away from the screen to find the three staring at him.
"What?" He sighed, walking over tords them.
"That barrier isn't some security feature, it has to be someone's quirk" the guard explained, looking nervously at the three of them.
"Why would they want to do this though? What do they get out of it?" Kirishima muttered, hand on his chin, deep in thought.
"They could be robbing the place. Using the panic as a cover so they can sneak off without being noticed." Bakugo shrugged, smirking at the idea of taking down a villain.
It made sense. But also it had been almost half an hour since the barrier had shown up. How long did this person need to rob this place? Shinsou saying as much to the group.
"So you think there could be something else going on?" Kirishima asked.
"I do" he nodded, "but what?"
As they thought shinsou found his eyes begin to drift up tords the monitors, hopping for any idea of their plan. His eyes widened as he realized far to late. "Its a trap" he muttered, his heart racing as he watched their friends play, unaware of what was about to happen. Before anyone could ask what he ment he ran slamming the door open.
BANG!
The gun shot rang out through the mall.
Then screaming.
loud.
violent.
The four froze at the sound.
Shinsous heart practically jumped into his throat. The noise around him was muffled by ringing in his ears. His heartbeat sped up fast enough to feel as if it were going to jump straight out of his chest. Clarity hit once he felt a strong hand on his shoulder. Glancing over he saw kirishima now standing behind him a look of determination in his eyes. With a slight nod shinsou felt his heartbeat slow again. Bakugo made his way over to them, fists clenched making direct eye contact with shinsou.
Although he'd never admit it out loud, bakugo was very protective of the bakusquad. In his head they were his and no one messes with his things.
Quickly the three left the security room closing the door behind them. Slowly they made their way out of the hall making sure to keep low as they snuck into the closest store, that being a build a bear. They kept low until they knew they were completely out of sight, standing up straight. A muffled sob came from behind the checkout counter.
Looking behind it there was a young girl around their age hiding. She seemed to be one of the employees with the uniform. She was shaking as tears flowed down her cheeks, her hands pressed against her mouth. Hesitately she glanced over, letting out a quiet yelp.
"Hay it's alright, were heros" Kirishima smiled, watching as her panic died down slightly. She seemed to recognize them as she let her hands fall into her lap.
"Oh thank the lord" she sobbed quietly as she stood on shaking legs and walked over. "I thought i was dead."
"Dont worry, we won't let anything happen to you, uh- Aoi?" Kirishima wisperd, squinting to read her name tag, getting a nod in response.
"We should start getting a game plan figured out right about now" shinsou muttered, having had snuck back over to the front just out of view, "look".
Confused, bakugo and kirishima snuck over peaking out from behind a wall. The sight made their blood run cold. There was a deranged looking man right behind their friends, who were on their knees with a gun pointed at the backs of their heads, the man holding one of his own.
"Shit" Bakugo growled, fists clenching.
"But this is good, he probably doesn't even know were here since he isn't trying to find us." Shinsou noted, a plan forming in his head. "I have an idea" He said, smirking

The concert was going well. The people had mostly forgotten that they couldn't leave, instead singing, laughing, and dancing along to the music. People even tried tipping them only for them to thank them and tell them to keep their money. It was honesty really fun. Jirou was singing the same song from the previous years festival, although since they were missing some instruments she changed the tempo to match.
Denki was just happy to play the guitar again. After so long he wasn't sure he fully remembered the song. Luckily instinct kicked in from the months of practice and it was like they were back at rehearsal. Mina was in-between them both, dancing her heart out.
He wondered how things with everyone else was going. He hopped this whole ordeal would end soon as the song was coming to a close and he didn't know any other songs other then "hero too". Although if worst came to worst she'd probably take requests and denki would join mina.
Being friends with Mina for as long as he had led to being forced to learn how to dance. She also would constantly pick his outfits as he apparently "dressed like he had no eyes". It wasn't even just him, she did it with kirishima, sero, and even bakugo. Apparently shinsou and jirou knew how to dress to her standards. But he wouldn't complain considering that he actually found being treated like a barbie doll fun.
The faces shinsou would make was always a bonus.
When the song came to a end the crowd when wild, clapping and asking for an encore. Jirou smiled, happy that people still loved the song, and glanced over at denki and mina. Mina had her hands on her knees as she caught her breath, her smile not leaving her face once. Glancing down he realized his fingers were bleeding, a few small cuts on two of his fingers. Probably because he was out of practice.
"How about a solo" he asked, looking over at jirou. She seemed surprised for a second before smiling, and nodding walking over to the middle of their make shift stage. Mina, after catching her breath, wipped her forehead with her sleave and moving out of the way on the other side of jirou.
Setting the guitar down denki reached into his backpack and pulled out a small first ad kit lida had forced him to have after an incident involving a porcupine. And no he will not elaborate.
Slipping two bandages on he zipped his bag back up and grabbing it by it's handle. Jirou was about to start her next song when a loud bang rang out throughout the mall, then people started screaming. His ears were ringing making him drop his bag and cover his ears. Panicked he looked tords the girls both covering their ears, Mina yelling something that he couldn't hear.
His heart rate spiked when he remembered that bakugo and them hadn't returned yet. We're they hurt? No, no they wouldn't be. Right? Kiri would have protected them if someone tried shooting at them.
Even with that he still couldn't seem to get himself to calm down. The shot had come from behind them though it didn't seem as though anyone had gotten hurt, good.
Glancing behind himself there was a deranged looking man. He looked as if he hadn't showered nor slept since he was born with his hair sticking up in all different directions, a look of burning hatred burning in his eyes. The two made eye contact before the man ran at him at full speed. Before denki could react the man was behind him shoving the barrel of the gun against the back of his head.
"EVERYONE SHUT UP!" He yelled, forcing the crowds attention onto him. The mall fell silent at his words letting him continue, "Get on the ground!", Scared, the crowd obliged, slowly lowering themselves down onto the cold tile of the floor. By the end only the shooter, denki, jirou, and mina were still standing. "That includes you three!" He yelled, pressing the gun harder against his head.
Glancing over at the girls he slowly got down onto his knees, the girls doing the same never once taking their eyes off of denki. Or more accurately the gun against his head. Once satisfied, the man walked away from denki, yet the gun stayed ferm in place against the back of his head.
Making his way over to the girls he grabbed two more guns from his arsenal, turning off the safety on them and planting both against their heads. And like with him they stayed floating in the air once the man waked away.
"If I were you, heros, I wouldn't try moving. Move to much and I'll make them fire" the man laughed, acting like he just stole the moon or something. The mall was eerily quiet as the man pased back and forth nervously, his shoulders stiff as if waiting for something to happen.
Looking around the area, denki tried to find something, anything, that could help them get out of this alive. That's when out of the corner of his eye he saw the distinct purple hair of shinsou slightly poking his head out from the build a bear on the upper floor. Looking around he realized that the man hadn't noticed him yet, hell he might not know that their here to begin with.
Tilting his head down he locked eyes with shinsou and mouthed " he doesn't know your here" smiling as shinsous eyes widened slightly, getting that look in his eyes whenever he was making a plan. Shinsou looked behind himself as if talking to someone, probably kirishima and bakugo, before looking back at him. A moment later kirishima and bakugo poked their heads out before going back behind the wall, shinsou disappearing with them.
Looking over at the girls they looked over at him the three smiling, knowing their friends would be there to help in no time.

"And your sure this'll work?" Kirishima asked, the three hiding behind the checkout counter. "Not that I'm doubting you of course but, it's still risky"
"I know, but im sure it'll work and if not that's what bakugo is here for." Shinsou smirked as bakugo glared at him.
"You two ready?" Aoi asked, holding up her keys. Nodding, shinsou and bakugo followed aoi to the back of the store, leaving kirishima alone. Once they disappeared into the back kirishima crawled over to the entrance taking his seat on the floor just out of sight. Grabbing his phone out of his pocket he saw several texts from his classmates he had yet to read.
Pulling up the group chat he went and back read through the thread.
Class pres: don't forget about the homework for Monday everyone!
Vice pres: if anyone needs help I'm free tonight
See me not: ty! what times good for you
Vice pres: how about 6? we can meet in the common room
Tape dispenser: speaking of which has anyone seen denki
Tape dispenser: mf stole my note book again
Deku: no haven't seen him since he went to the mall with kacchan and the rest of your friend group
Class pres: they've been gone for hours now
Call me tsu: I hope they're alright
Shoto: im sure they'll be fine
Before he could keep reading a new text popped up from bakugo.
Pop: get going
Rocks: on it!
Closing the app he opened his camera before standing and turning the flash on. Getting to the exit he made himself deliberately visible while looking like it was intentional, holding his phone up. Focusing the camera on the crowds he took a picture the bright light and loud shutter sound making the man look up. The two made eye contact before the man ran to the stairs tords him. Shoving his phone in his pocket he waited till the man was at the top before running down the hall, hardening his skin as he heard the distinct sound of a gun loading.
And as he expected the loud bang of the gun firing rang out, the bullet feeling as if someone just thrown a pebble at his back. The bullet bouncing off of his hardened back and falling to the floor. He didn't stop once, not until he made it to the pool store by the end of the mall.
Once he was in the line of sight of the entrance he saw shinsou hiding, just out of sight. With a curt nod kirishima smirked turning his head to look at the man before yelling, "that all you got!?".
the mans face turned a bright red as he yelled back "shut your damn mouth, brat!". All of a sudden he came to a stop, eyes unfocused and face having gone slack. Kirishima stopped running, turning around and walked over to the frozen man.
"Good job, bro!" Kirishima smiled, giving shinsou a high five as he walked out into the open. "Now what do we do with him?"
That's when bakugo walked out with a rope, most likely for a boat. "Just use this" he scoffed, tossing it to Kirishima before slipping his hands into his pockets. Nodding both Kirishima and shinsou wrapped him up, making sure not to touch him. "Service is back up, aoi got it working again" Bakugo explained, as Kirishima tied of the rope.
"Awesome! I assume you've already called for the pro's?" Kirishima smiled hopefully, as the three began their walk to the lower floor.
"Of course I did who do you take me for" Bakugo scoffed, rolling his eyes. Kirishima didn't seem to pay him any mind. Shinsou never understood why everyone, expesually kiri put up with bakugo, let alone not even snap back. He would've, however he was not in the mood for fighting with bakugo. He genuinely just wanted to go home at this point.
"GUYS!" Mina yelling, running over with denki and jirou following behind, "I see everything went well".
"Yeah, thanks for the save there" Jirou smiled, running ahead hand through her slightly messed up hair.
"It was nothing, we just did what any hero would." Kirishima laughed, shinsou making his way over tords denki. He could tell something was bothering him. He was to quiet, usually he'd be all over them laughing and what not but at the moment he was just standing there silently, a distant look in his eyes.
"Babes?" Shinsou muttered, so no one else could hear. His voice seemed to snap denki out of whatever trance he'd been in, a smile showing back onto his face.
"Yeah?"
"You alright?"
"Im fine, just thinking" he shrugged, smiling up at shinsou.
"You sure?"
"Yes" his boyfriend chuckled, giving him a reassuring peck on the cheek, "I promise you".
"Alright, just checking" shinsou relented, leaning down slightly to plant a soft kiss onto denkis forehead. "But if anything changes let me know" at that the two join back up with their friends. The group had made their way back tords the front that was still barricaded. People around them were mostly on their phones now, probably calling and texting family where they were and what was happening.
"So, whats the game plan?" Mina asked, watching as kirishima led the criminal over tords them.
"I can always blow the damn thing to hell!" Bakugo smirked, tiny explosions popping from the palm of his hand.
"Bakubro, we know how durable the thing is, what if your explosions bounce off? It could cause the whole mall to collapse." Kirishima explained, bakugo scoffing in response, crossing his arms. If anyone else had told him that shinsou was pretty sure he would have murdered them.
"I have an idea" jirou suggested, "we could split up, Bakugo, shinsou, and i can look for any weak points, Mina and kirishima can keep trying to break the barrier and denki can stay with the shooter."
"Yeah, great idea!" Kirishima exclaimed, pumping his fists.
"You and I can search the lower floor, Bakugo, head up awhile and look" shinsou added.
"DONT TELL ME WHAT TO DO EYEBAGS!" Bakugo yelled, flipping him off as he made his way tords the stairs.
"Let's get to work then" jirou smiled, making her way to the left side of the mall.
"Before you go, take this" shinsou said, handing her a key.
"What is it?"
"Its a master key for the mall"
"What about you?"
"All the store managers have one, ill just ask to barrow one of theirs"
At that he ran off tords the right side, disappearing into the crowd.
❀𔘓˚ ཐི⋆৻ꪆ⋆ཋྀ ˚𔘓❀
By the time the pro's arrived both mina and kirishima hadn't even made a dent in the barrier. The people in the mall were all around them, some cheering them on, but most were quietly talking between themselves. Denki quietly watched from the side lines, making sure to keep the criminal in his peripheral vision.
Edgeshot had tried to get through as well but whatever quirk this was seemed to be thick enough to prevent even edgeshots quirk. They were only able to communicate with the outside with writing as, for some reason, the barrier blocked out all sound outside as well as inside the barrier.
From the sneak peak he took outside, there were a good few heros like edgeshot and best jeanist. Jirou, bakugo, and shinsou had been gone for a while at this point, the heros having had scattered around the perimeter to find any outer weak points in the barrier.
Denki was holding the end of the rope, boredom creeping in. After the adrenaline wore off, simply standing around not contributing in any significant way started making him feel useless. He knew that his job was important but it was also a low chance it happening.
Ever since shinsou joined 2A he'd improved his quirk a bunch from the first sports festival. His quirks effect not only lasts as long as the person isn't touched but also how long shinsou can focus on keeping them under his control. Which during training wasn't that hard, but an actual fight? Or even doing stuff in daily life would be easy to forget or lose focus. Even then shinsous focus has almost never faltered.
But even then, shinsous still cautious with it, never wanting to risk the target escaping. It was probably the smart choice to keep denki with the criminal, but that didn't make it any less boring.
Pulling out his phone, hopping to find some entertainment in this situation, only for his phone to constantly ping with a new notification. They were all from the 2A group chat, suppose the class found out about the hostage situation. But before he could text back the screen went black, dead. Groaning he threw it back in his bag, of course the one day he forgot his phone charger is the day he needed it.
As soon as he dropped it in,
BANG!
The shot echoed throughout the mall making him and his adrenaline jump. Kirishima and mina instantly stopped what they were doing, looking around frantically. It came from the right side of the mall, what store, he couldn't tell you.
A soft chuckle pulled him out of his thoughts. Wipping around, he didn't have time to thing before the man smashed his head against denkis. His vision went blurry for a second as he fell to the floor, wincing as his head bounced off of the ground.
Distantly he heard kirishima, or mina? He couldn't tell, yell his name. His vision cleared enough to find the shooter getting out of his restraints. There was running somewhere coming from behind him, all but two running away from him.
Another bang rang out, pain shooting through his nervous system. Starting from his shoulder and flowing through out. A pained gasp left him, as his other hand shot up tords his shoulder, the warm blood seeping through his fingers and staining his hand in his blood. The pain blurred his vision, tears flooding into the corners of his eyes.
Squeezing his eyes shut he cleared his vision finding the man pointing the gun straight his head, finger on the trigger.
"DIE, BRAT!" Time seemed to slow around him as a third bang rang out. His heart jumped into his throat, eyes wideneding in horror. He was dead, he was so dead. Neither him nor his friends were fast enough to stop this, expesually from point blank range.
Squeezing his eyes shut he waited for the pain, the feeling of the bullet hitting him in his head. Yet it never came, only the sounds of an explosion. His eyes snapped open in recognition. The criminal was now face first on the ground, head being pressed down by a familiar blond.
"Bakugo!" He exclaimed, a wide smile spreading on his face. He never thought he'd be relieved to see the angry pomeranian smashing a man's face into the floor yet here he was doing just that.
"Heared the commotion and made my way down." He explained, picking the guys head up off the ground finding he was unconscious before dropping him back down with a loud thud.
"Hay man-" he smiled, trying to sit back up only to get a painful reminder on why that was a bad idea, letting out a hiss of pain as he pulled at his wound.
"Dont move," Kirishima said, placing a hand on his back and slowly lowering him back down to the ground slowly.
"Boys, I got this, go investigate the shot. For all we know shinsou could also be hurt" Mina noted, slipping her jacket off and placing it under denkis head. Nodding kirishima ran off, bakugo following behind.
"Excuse me?" A female voice asked from next to her. Glancing over there was a nervous young girl, about 20 or so. "If you'd aloud me, it can try and patch him up. I'm currently in med school and sure I'll be of help."
"Of course, thank you." Mina smiled, moving back to give the girl more space as she pulled out a med kit. She watched silently from the side as she pulled on latex gloves.
"Are you allergic to anything?" She asked, leaning over him watching as he shook his head. "Good" she muttered, "do you mind if I cut your shirt? It'll give me better access to the wound."
"Go right ahead"
Nodding, she grabbed a set of medical shears from the white box and began cutting the fabric around his shoulder, being careful not to move his arm. The wound had stopped by now the blood around it dry. Grabbing a disinfectant wipe she carefully wiped the dry blood away leaving only a faint red stain that would come off with one quick shower.
As she worked mina stood, making sure not to let him leave her sight. She still wasn't sure if she was also with the villains. This could've easily been their plan, have one be the villain and one be the hero to gain trust only to hurt one of them when their guards were down.
"Mina!" Jirou yelled, breaking her out of her thoughts. "What happened!?" She asked, coming to a stop by mina
"Something happened with shinsou and his quirk deactivated. Kirishima and bakugo are both on their way to help him now."
"Denki-"
"He'll live" the girl interrupted, looking over her shoulder. "Its minor, I've already stitched him back up and the bullet won't cause any harm if left in. With proper rest and care he'll heal in a few weeks"
"Good" jirou sighed in relief, walking over and crouching down, "you feeling any better?".
"My shoulders killing me but that's all" he smiled, yet she'd known him long enough to see the small cracks in it. She wouldn't blame him either. They had no idea what had happened to shinsou back there and both kiri and bakugo had yet to get back.
Glancing up at the barrier there were two heros looking in, all looking panicked. All they saw were people screaming, two hero students running off and, most likely, a teen getting shot. Pulling her phone out mina made her way over typing up an explanation. Outside the mall were several police officers, an ambulance, a good few pros, and news reporters.
Back when her and kirishima were talking with the pro's before she hadn't had the chance to really look at who all was present but now she was able to get a good look. Pressing her phone to the barrier she let the pro's read, expressions becoming concerned. As they read she looked around to see who all was there on the pro side of things.
It seemed that edgeshot had yet to get back from his search as he wasn't around. However her face lit up finding Mr Aizawa in the crowd. When the pro's were done reading one left to report to everyone else. Pulling her phone back she typed a quick message.
Tell Mr Aizawa I said hi :)
Confused, the other hero looked around. Even though she couldn't see her face she watched as Aizawas eyes widened, snapping his attention to her, smiling wide and waving over at him. Now she wasn't the best at reading lips but she was positive he mouthed "You've got to be kidding me" before making his way over.
"You guys want to tell Mr Aizawa anything?" Mina yelled over to her classmates.
"Tell him I'm not dead yet!" Denki joked, getting lightly smacked on his forehead.
"That just sounds like your actually dying. Tell him we're ok!" Jirou yelled back.
Nodding she began typing on her phone. Once Aizawa was there she pressed the screen against the barrier. A few seconds past before he pulled out his own phone and showed her the screen.
Where are kirishima, bakugo, and shinsou?
Frowning she typed a response
We dont know kiri and baku left once the shooter was delt with to find and help shinsou
His grip around his phone tightened visibly, his brows furrowing. Of course one of the three problem children was acting recklessly. But his main concern was for shinsou. From what was said he hadn't been seen for a while and there was no update on his whereabouts. He knew shinsou was capable, he was one of the most talented students he had the honor of teaching.
That didn't mean he wasn't worried. This school years class A was the most danger prone class he'd ever taught. He wouldn't put it past them to get shot, denki was the prime example for that.
Keep the shoppers calm and keep your guards up, who know what else it up their sleeves.
Nodding Mina turned around yelling something to the crowd, everyone's attention landing on her.
Sighing he pulled away from the entrance, he needed to have faith his students could take care of not only the criminals but each other as well.

He really should have expected what was about to happen. She was the store manager of one of the clothing stores in the mall. She didn't seem suspicious at the time, just another scared civilian in the crowd.
The back room was dark, and musty. It clearly hadn't been cleaned in a while with the empty boxes that once held clothes and the thick layer of dust that covered everything. The manager was ruffling through the drawer of a, seemingly abandoned, desk looking for her master key.
"So, your a hero student?" She asked, not looked back.
"Ah, yeah i am"
"Whats your hero name then?"
"Im NightHide. Dont think I caught your name"
"Oh, yeah, i-it's... rin"
The room fell back into a tence silence, the only sound being of rin rummaging through the drawer. She was taking a while just to find it, it wasn't like it was a big drawer either.
"Do you need help?" He finally asked, walking over.
"No!" She exclaimed before catching herself, "i-i mean, no, im good just stand by"
He stopped his advices, narrowing his eyes in suspicion. She was hiding something. She seemed to have gotten more nervous now that he was closer.
"Look, I'm kinda on a time crunch so if I can help speed this up-" he began walking closer he peeked inside the desk drawer freezing at the sight. In the drawer was a loaded hand gun and with the look on her face, he wasn't ment to see it.
Quickly she took hold of the gun and world around pointing it at him before firing instantly. He barely had time to dodge as it grazed past. Stumbling out of the way the bullet grazed past his arm, luckily only grazing his arm. Rushing forward he slapped the gun out of her grip.
Stunned she stumbled back into the desk only for shinsou to grab her rist and pull her tords himself. Spinning her around he pinned her face first on the ground, his knee pressing into her back. Grabbing both of her wrists he quickly dug through the desk drawer looking for anything to keep her restrained.
Pulling the drawer out he grabbed a few miscellaneous zip ties, tying her rists together.
"Is your quirk the one keeping everyone trapped?" Shinsou asked, as he sat her up and tied her to one of the table legs. She, however, refused to speak, only glaring at him with intense hated. "Look this will go a lot faster if you just fess up now."
She stayed silent turning her head away from him. Shinsou simply sighed at that, pushing up off of his knees. "Fine, do what you want" she was probably just being causes of his quirk. Reaching into his back pocket he grabbed his phone, but before he could do anything a shiver ran up his spine. Someone was here.
Before he could do anything a sharp pain hit him in the back of his head. His body slammed in a pile of empty boxes and clothing racks. The impact echoed through the back room. He slammed against the floor several times before skidding to a stop. His hand pressed against the back of his head where the impact hit. His head was throbbing from it, vision blurry.
Looking over there was a well built man at least six foot. He was rubbing his clenched fist, smirking over at him.
"Untie me, kenji!" rin yelled over to him, all her previous nervousness long gone.
"Yeah yeah, brat" he muttered, grabbing the zip ties and snapping them in half. "Dont get your ponytail in a twist."
Standing up she rubbed her rists, glaring up at kenji. "you were supposed to be my body guard you ass!" She yelled, punching him in his arm.
"Your not my only priority, little girl, I had important business" he laughed before grabbing the back of her work shirt and throwing her back, not caring what happened to her as she fell to the ground. "Now move it, i got a hero to kill"
At that he charged tords shinsou, murderous intent burning in his eyes. Before he was half way from shinsou a gunshot rang out from outside. The three froze at the sound looking at the closed door of the back room. Shinsous mind raced one hundred miles an hour once he realized. He'd lost his train of thought and the shooter was released doing god know what to his friends.
Kenji grinned like a mad man as he continued his advances, "looks like genshis back up!". Quickly, shinsou ducked out of the way, putting more distance between him and his assailant. There was no way he could fight this tank head on, and win. He wasn't weak, he knew that, but it was like putting a wall against kirishima.
Dodging was his only opinion without dying, or breaking several, if not all of, his bones. He just needed to buy time till he could get back up here.
But whatever was going on outside could be taking all of their attention for who knows how long, expesually after a second shot went off. For now he'd simply keep moving, with all that mussel he couldn't be that fast. At least faster then shinsou.
He kept moving dodging out of the way of his flying fists, ducking and running out of the way. All of that ended as soon as a barrier appeared behind him, his back slamming into it before he could dodge kenjis next attack. His vision spun as the attack landed, his body slamming into the actual wall at full force. Pain erupted throughout his body.
"I didn't need your help rin!" Kenji yelled over to the girl. So he'd been right, she had the barrier quirk.
"Just shut up and kill the kid quickly, the boss wanted this done fast" she sighed, having stood back up before moving over to the door. "The brats friends are probably on their way, expesually after the gun shot. I'll distract them be-" before she could finish the door exploded open.
Now in the door way stood kirishima and bakugo. Bakugo with his open hand seemingly had been pressed against the now destroyed door.
Quickly kenji ran forward, charging at shinsou with a type of panicked rage. If he could get his hands on him, neither of his friends would risk going after him. But before he could do that kirishima slid infront, skin hardening and arms making a x infront of his chest. Kenjis fist slamming into it, stumbling back.
"You alright, shinsou?" Kirishima asked, looking back at him. There was a giant bruise forming on the side of his face and his noes was bleeding, dripping into his mouth. He was cradling his right arm, panting hard.
"Y-yeah, ill be fine. The- the girl has the barrier quirk." Shinsou stuttered, standing up on uneven footing, wincing from the movement.
"Bakugo!" Kirishima yelled over to him.
"Yeah I know!" He yelled back holding the girl by her hair, rin being unconscious. Throwing her to the side, bakugo ran over tords the four or, more accurately, kenji. "DIE BASTERD!" He yelled, hand open ready to blast the tank to hell.
Kenji didn't have any time to react before a explosion erupted by his face blinding light erupting all around them. Before the explosion went off kirishima covered shinsou with his own body, protecting him from the blast.
The room fell quiet right after, and once kirishima moved out of the way he could see bakugo standing over an unconscious kenji.
Bakugo grabbed both kenji and rin, with kirishima helping shinsou. After the adrenaline wore off shinsou could barely move his body, they could only guess the guys quirk was like Shodas twin impact quirk. There was no way that guy was just that strong on mussel alone.
Slinging his arm over kirishimas shoulders the three left the room finding the barrier had fallen. Heros were now inside the mall escorting people out.
"Bakugo, you go ahead" shinsou managed to get out, clenching his side. He simply rolled his eyes and did as told making his way tords the authorities. Shinsou searched the crowd for anyone of his friends, but the crowd was to thick to see anything. "Kiri, where... how is everyone? I heard- gunfire"
"Everyone's ok, denki got shot but it wasn't fatal, he'll make a full recovery in no time." He answered, the two slowly hobbling forward as fast as shinsous body would let him. Which wasn't fast at all. And with the crowd they weren't leaving any time soon.
So instead kirishima led him to a quiet spot on a bench, to wait out the crowd. Although bakugo might also tell pro's or police about shinsou, hopefully. He would've gone himself but he didn't want to leave shinsou alone in the state he was in.
"You'll be alright, shinsou, help will be here soon" Kirishima smiled hopefully at him, letting shinsou lean against him.
"Kids!" Looking up, was edgeshot running over tords them, behind him being paramedics with a stretcher.
"Looks like bakugo got the pros" Kirishima noted, standing up to meet edgeshot half way. The paramedics moved past the pro and over to shinsou helping him lay down on it.
The rest was a blur of pain and yelling. His hearing was foggy, senses unfocused. He vaguely remembered seeing his friends in the crowd, paramedics talking to him, even seeing Mr Aizawa. Though the last one could easy have just been a hallucination.
Before long, he gave into unconsciousness.

When he came to a few hours later he was in the hospital, he was released a few minutes after. He only had a few bruised bones and a concussion but besides that he was fine. Later on he reunited with the rest of the group. No one besides himself and denki had any injuries. And denki, thanks to that med student, didn't need any medical treatment at the hospital only needing a quick check up.
The seven left the hospital at 8, planning on just getting on the bus only for there to be one of UAs busses up front. Infront of the open door was Mr Aizawa as well as all might.
"I shouldn't be surprised it was you seven." Aizawa sighed, walking over to them.
"Im glad you all are safe, I'm very proud of you all. You handled the situation well with no civilians harmed." All might smiled, looking over each student. "Now then, hop on im sure your classmates are eager to see you all".
The drive back to the dorms was quiet, everyone being far to tired to talk. Kirishima and bakugo were napping together, resting their heads over each others. Mina and jirou were quietly whispering to each other, and denki and shinsou were silently staring at nothing, fingers intertwined.
"Im sorry" shinsou muttered, making sure not to make eye contact. The shame he felt from earlier rising.
"What for, you didn't do anything wrong"
"I lost focus during my fight and let the guy break free. If I'd noticed them sooner and avoided his attack you wouldn't have been shot and neither of us would've ended up in the hospital."
"It's fine, plus things could've been way worse but they didn't. If the gun hadn't gone off kiri and bakugo wouldn't have gone to help you. You could've gotten hurt way worse. Besides my shoulder would heal in a few weeks, I'll probably even get out of training for a while" he smiled, whispering the last part.
"But you still got-"
"Dont go living in the past, what happened happened, right now just focus on healing up. Take this as a leaning experience, and when your a pro you'll know exactly what to do."
Shinsou smiled softly at his words, he always knew what to say. He might not be school smart but he has great emotional intelligence. Hell, even though mina is considered the therapist friend if people need emotional help she just sends them to denki. It was one of the many things he loved about the blond.
"Yeah, thanks" he nodded, giving him a light peck on the cheek.
"No problem, babes"
