Work Text:
“Yo, Catti, did you, hear? About, Susie and Kris?!”
Catti isn’t usually in the mood to hear anything about Susie, dark thief of her Noelle’s heart, but something about Jockington’s tone of voice tells her this will be interesting. She pauses before gluing the next soccer ball to their poster. “Go on.”
“Apparently, Susie and Kris had, a mega fight! The whole school’s, talking about it! I heard, Noelle took Kris’s side, too?”
Hm. If Noelle took Kris’s side, then that meant she had to be over Susie now, right? The evil was slain, the dark force banished. …Then why did she feel so bad, now that she practically had Noelle to herself again?
~
The next day in class, Susie’s arrival is punctuated by kicking the door so hard it’s nearly blown off its hinges. Catti looks at her, looks at the way she makes eye contact with not a single person in the room, and thinks back to her outcast days.
She starts, “I’m sorry—“
“Like you care, after telling Kris they were ’walking with the dark’. So there. You got your wish. I’m all alone. …Now shut up.”
The two of them lay their heads on their desks in unison, saying nothing.
