Who’s crazy? Totally not me!

Summary:

What sleeplessness does to a deity, specifically one battling the Celestial Worthy

Or, Amon bribes Mr. Fool with psychological care for a cute nickname:)

Work Text:

Klein laid motionless in Sefirah Castle. He was the Lord of Mysterious, omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent, and utterly divine. He was awake after years of sleep. He didn’t know which he disliked more (if he could dislike or like anything at all) being asleep or waking up and knowing he lacked the humanity he cared for so much. It wasn’t crushing nor upsetting, nothing was. It was like being a spectator to his own mind, painfully self aware.

He’d love to cry, to sob, to hurt so painfully bad that he could never wish to inflict that suffering onto others. He didn’t know when Celestial Worthy would take over, it would happen eventually though, it was only a matter of waiting till he lacked the strength to go on.

Only a matter of time… how much has passed since the apocalypse…? Years…

His memory was starting to get unreliable. A god of time wondering how much has passed was a blaring sign of his declining mental state. Klein Moretti left to suffer in his divinity. Klein Moretti who could no longer trust himself to protect the humanity he once strived for.

Cry

Crying is the only reaction I should have

Time passed inconsequentially, how could he bring himself to care of the passing days and lack of prayers requesting his response? The Tarot Club had long learned to use their own strength. He should be asleep, but a part of his spiritually told him to stay awake and await a much needed opportunity. This could very well be the work of Celestial Worthy but Klein stayed awake anyway.

If Adam wasn’t dead, I’d seek him out for psychiatric treatment… I can no longer burden Miss Justice

It wouldn’t be beneficial to go to Amanises

Humanity toiled to rebuild itself, a cycle that brought no joy or sorrow to The Fool. HE only laid on HIS back, aimlessly contorting HIS thoughts till they were only filled with one action.

Cry

Cry

Cry

No tears came from The Fool, HIS smile a mask of joy. A cunning and scheming mind hid beneath that was, logically, deserving of a fate filled with  tears.

—————————

It had been nearly months of staying awake, the Celestial Worthy’s influence was growing stronger and strong every passing moment HE wasn’t placated by dreams. Fors Wall, HIS Angel of Stars, was probably suffering due to HIM being awake. There was another existence who would also been affected by The Fool’s current state.

That very existence was right in front of HIM.

“Amon.” He smiled like The Fool HE is.

“My oh my! Who would guess that the honorable Mr. Fool would want to cry so badly? It’s really starting to get to me you know.” Amon crouched down so HE was sitting next to The Fool.

It seemed there had been a slip in HIS defenses of Sefirah Castle, something the former Error uniqueness quickly exploited. However, The Fool was unbothered by this development. HIS spirituality would’ve warned HIM of danger by now.

“I do wish to cry.” HE replied honestly, something unfounded for his pathway.

“Well I may not be Adam but I can definitely try giving you some psychological care! Of course, I’d like a spot in the Tarot Club in return-“

“No.” The Fool hummed.

“Fine then! My cost is that you at least call me Mr. Lovers! That’s all I ask!” Amon retorted.

There was a kind of silence that could only be shared by divine beings. There was no rush, they truly had all the time in the world. However long it took The Fool to come up with a reply, he had it now.

“My humanity is dwindling, Mr. Lovers.”

Notes:

Can you tell I haven’t read COI to its end yet? I’m barely half way through and I’m relying on whatever spoilers I’ve seen for anything relating to the apocalypse or jst making stuff up
