Chapter Text
Everyone had given up on freedom at this point. It's been years since we first arrived in this hell hole. People stopped arriving after the last two killers, Itrapped and Azure. Everything since then has been stagnant. At least, on the surface.
I've always been a stubborn man. And, in my past, it has gotten me in trouble as I'm sure you know. I hadn't really given up on the opportunity for escape. Giving up wasn't on the table for me. Even as everyone else faded into themselves. Even as all of my attempts (literally more often than metaphorically) blow up in my face. I don't give up. I Can't give up. That's what got me in this place to begin with.
So, I keep pushing. I give up on trying to seem like a good person to everyone else and I stay in my room. The others, especially the former Admins, are skeptical of my intentions. I pay them no mind. There is no point in trying to argue with them. Not anymore.
Eventually, after years of trial and mainly error, I find a way. An opening to a digital pathway. And, I only find it on accident. As I'm patching up my code from the last.. "incident," I notice something odd with my own code. Something embedded deep into my code that I didn't put there. It wasn't a simple glitch either. It was like finding a crack in the stone of a cave in. Before I could figure out what to do with that information, the next round started.
Glass houses and 1x... Great. I trudge along the grass and look for a generator. They're all in the same places. Every time. I'm surprised that Twotime is the only one of us that is actually insane at this point. It's impressive what having something occupy yourself will do for you.
I kneel by one of the generators and start to work with the wires. It's all basically muscle memory at this point. I can hear someone approaching from my right and I look up. It's Guest 1337. I give him a wave and I turn back to the generator. He looks injured already. Did Elliot not get to heal him yet?
"Mind if I join you?"
"Oh! Not at all."
We work together silently for a moment until I realize something.
"I have a question for you. Well, technically a few."
"Go for it."
"How do you... no, nevermind on that one. How far are you willing to go for freedom from this place?"
He stops moving for a second. It's a bit surprising to see a man like him stunned by anything. He looks up at me like he's trying to make sure he heard me right. "What?"
I stop what I'm doing and look him in the eyes. "How far are you willing to go for freedom. I want your honest answer. No judgment from me, I promise."
He chuckles lowly. "None of us have talked about that in quite some time..."
"Well, it's been on my mind a lot lately." I can feel my tail flick slightly under my shirt in agitation. I hope he didn't notice
"It's a tough question to answer..." He pauses for a moment, looking away from me. "I would give up a lot to just know that the people I love back home are safe. I wouldn't give up any of you. Unless, of course, I was for the safety of my daughter. But for freedom? No."
It wasn't exactly the response I was looking for.. "Hm."
He looks back at me. "What about you?"
"Me?"
"Yes, you. What would you give up to be rid of this place?"
I look him in the eyes. "I would kill everyone here, except for my son, slowly with my bare hands if it means I can take him out of this place."
It takes Guest a second to realize that I'm completely serious. "Oh." And for a second, I see the look in his eyes I know too well from others.
I look at the generator. "You're a better person than me, Guest." I sigh and finish connecting the wires. I stand. "I have something to ask of you. I need you at my cabin after this round. Alone."
"You Do realize how bad that sounds after what you just said, right?"
"We can't die in this place. Not even between rounds." I pull up my gui. Particularly because I want this conversation to end and particularly because I can hear 1x approaching.
"Wait, how do you know that?"
I teleport away without another word.
