I adore Yuu in Twisted Wonderland. There’s just enough characterization for you to get a sense of their personality, but just as much is left vague so the player can interpret how they wish. I love how the game balances this.
But, I am a person who likes solid characterization, so I decided to write a couple fics about my interpretation of Yuu. Here are the important notes about my OC…
- My interpretation of Yuu is a sixteen-year-old girl named Krista Yuun. I gave her a different name to help my brain, and it’s what I have as my in-game username.
- I think that, on top of being at a magic academy, being the only girl in an all-boys school (because there is nowhere else for her to go) opens the door for lots of interesting ideas I’d like to elaborate on.
- The sheer number of overblots Yuu gets wrapped up with has to take some sort of mental toll. They come from a world without magic and in an incredibly short time frame have experienced seven magically charged mental breakdowns. Even if the timeline were not so close together, that would probably be incredibly stressful.
- I don’t plan to do much shipping in this fic. It’s just not the story I want to write. I do plan to write a love potion trope, but there are no real feelings involved. I may have minor background ships, but my interpretation of Yuu is on the aroace spectrum, so for the time being she doesn't really fit a romance plot.
- Each part can be read as a standalone, but if you like one, please check out the rest because I do have an overarching plot planned that each new work will add to.
- This will be from the game MC’s perspective. I haven’t read the manga or light novels. As of writing, there is only one season of the anime. All of my information comes from the game, but I have only played through some of book seven (one fight is absolutely kicking my butt, and I can’t win, but we’ll get through eventually). If I care enough about something, I check Reddit or the wiki.
- I'm planning to tell the entirety of the canon story from my interpretation's perspective, just because it sounds fun. I have a few ideas for books 5-7 that will be drastically different from canon, but otherwise I plan for all of this to be canon-compliant.
- Please don't be rude if I get some lore wrong. Most lore is from my memory, with minimal fact-checking if I care enough about a scene. Corrections are welcome, as long as they’re polite. Let’s all nerd out over lore in the comments XD
Timeline:
Based on in-game content, it doesn't feel logical that Yuu would just suddenly be good with some of the people who overblotted (heavily side-eyeing Azul). Especially because- and correct me if I'm wrong- the moments where characters who overblot reflect on their lives and all the things that led them to overblot are not seen by Yuu. Yeah, Yuu gets to see a couple of Disney movies or be told by those close to the overblotter the cliffnotes of what happened, but they don't really know enough to really empathize (in my opinion).
This means that I get a lot of freedom to write how I think that reconciliation would go, and also drag it out a bit for characters I think deserve. Example: I think Riddle would be one that was able to quickly come to good terms with Yuu because of Trey and his genuine desire to do better. Riddle still values rules, but tries to not be a tyrant. For example, I think Azul would take a bit longer because no one ever tells Yuu why he acts the way he does (as far as Yuu knows, he just really likes control and will hurt people to have that control), and Azul doesn't really change all that much post-Overblot; he still loves deals and control, but he's trying to be more compassionate.
All that to say, the timeline of when my fics occur will dictate how Krista views her peers. I've also spent way too long thinking of when each event occurs.

- Krista loves alchemy. In a world of magic where she received none, it's something wondrous that she is capable of. If only the idiots in her class (aka, her best friends Ace and Deuce) didn't seem hellbent on dragging her into trouble at every turn. Such as on this occasion, when their unfinished potion turns Krista back into her five-year-old self, and they immediately lose her.
