Chapter Text
“Shadow Milk Cookie, will you be my friend?”
“…Friend?”
How dare he. How DARE he think that after EVERYTHING, I could be benevolent enough to accept this little ‘friend request’ of his. I almost thought he Knew me. That he understood me. That he saw that minute droplet of longing in my soul for what it was.
I was foolish. No one cookie could ever understand me. No living thing could ever Know me. Not even before, when I still believed in others, before I realized that cookies didn’t seek my Knowledge, they sought the sweet embrace of Deciet.
I thought, that after all those years inside that DANG TREE, I might have found the one cookie that understood.
Even when we became one for a brief moment, he never saw my Truth.
He never saw the love I felt.
And now that IMBECILE wants us to be ‘friends’? Friends, when it was HIM who left me. HIM, who chose to go against me. HIM, who
Never
Loved
Me.
…
“CURSE YOU. YOU KNOW NOTHING. YOU ARE NOTHING. I HATE YOU. YOU and your PATHETIC Soul Jam, talking about ‘understanding me’.” You couldn’t even see my love for you when we were one. “I will DESTROY you!”
“Shadow Milk, it doesn’t have to be like this. Please, we can be friends. We can work together to defeat Dark Enchantress Cookie- to better our world- you could stand with us and the other ancients.”
“Dark Enchantress Cookie this, White Lily Cookie that, it almost seems like you have a crush~ on that little fake faerie.”
“…”
“Nilly?” Did I push too far? Did I break him? Does he actually love her?
“… I don’t. I love- someone else.” He finishes. CLEARLY not how he intended to finish his sentence in the first place. Maybe his silly Nills just needed a l-i-t-t-l-e more prodding to get him to spill the full Truth. Blegh.
“So Nills, just who is that special someone of yours? I am crumbling to Know.”
“I really shouldn’t.”
“Pure Vanilla Cookie.”
“…”
“Just tell me already.”
“I love- I love you, Shadow Milk Cookie.”
What.
What did that silly Vanilly say? That he… loves me? That- that can’t be right. I- I- I- no, no no no no nonononononononono. I must have misheard him. Or he’s lying to me. He can’t love me. No. He must have said he loves White Lily, or said I love you in a friend way. He- he can’t love me.
I don’t deserve it. I don’t deserve anything. He can’t love me. I’m broken. I fell. I tried to end my suffering.
Then the world goes black
********************************************
Oh my witches. Oh no. Why has Shadow Milk gone silent. He hasn’t said a single word since- since I told him how I feel. That was NOT a very well thought out decision. I should have thought more. He hates me. He said so just a few moments ago. Why. Witches, why did I tell him how I feel. Why did I tell him that I love him.
Something is completely wrong. This isn’t a normal silence. It almost seems like-
Then my bluebird falls from the sky.
He looks peaceful.
He’s passed out.
I rush towards where he is falling, a pile of debris knocked loose during our fight. It seems like it is mainly almond wood and tapestries, but the first thing I learned at school was that it was easier to prevent injuries rather than heal them. While I am rushing to help Shadow Milk, I jump out of the way just in time to not to be crushed by one of Candy Apple Cookie’s caramel apples.
“YOU STAY AWAY FROM MASTER SHADOW MILK YOU SON OF A B*TCH. MOTHERF*CKING B*STARD.”
“Candy Apple, that is not very family friendly.” Black Sapphire says cunningly while winking at the fourth wall of the room.
“You’re so weird, why do you keep doing that *sshole.”
“Master likes me more than you because of it, brat.”
“I’m gonna tell him why you keep running off to the fairy kingdom. Then I’ll be the favorite!”
“No you won’t.”
Shadow Milk’s body lands on the debris pile with an audible crack.
“If you two would let me through, I could heal-“
“Shut up old man-”
“Candy Apple, you brat-“
“Gay little f-“
“LET ME THROUGH.” That seems to get them to shut up.
As I approach Shadow Milk, it is clear the damage would be far too much for any normal cookie to withstand.
Good thing my bluebird isn’t.
“How is he? That looks… really bad.”
“You can heal Master, right? You may be a traitorous son of a b*tch, but you know your way around healing magic?”
“… Maybe, but I don’t have everything I need here to heal him.”
“What are you saying Pure Vanilla Cookie?” Wizard Cookie says. Truthfully, he had forgotten that the Brave Trio was here. He was so wrapped up in everything, he didn’t even notice when they had started to move Shadow Milk(‘s body) off the rubble and onto a nearby couch.
“I am saying that I think we need to take him to the Vanilla Kingdom.”
