The Hunt for the Creature of the Moon
Kate leaves Kai Holman's office without giving him her name. Afraid that he wouldn't take her or her team seriously. They need all the help they can get to find this beast. You see she and her friends formed a team of paranormal investigators together. Ernie is the tech guy who takes care of the equipment. Jane has many contacts in different science fields. And Lucy uses her charm to get them into private locations.
She handles the research aspect of the investigations. Loving to dig up hard to find information about the creatures that they hunt. Not to hurt them, but to study them. To see how exactly their bodies function. The one that they're currently looking for isn't easy to find. The elusive Moon Walker. A being that has managed to stay hidden for years. This why they went to Kai for help. She knows that he was the top of his class for tracking in the Marines.
Hoping that he would use that skill to find more information for them. She walks into their home base with a huff. "Well, someone's in a bad mood," Jane quips at her with a laugh. Rolling her eyes and moving past her towards Ernie. "Did you find anything yet?," she asks him. He groans and leans back into his chair. "No, unfortunately I didn't. Are we sure this thing even exists?,"he replies sounding annoyed. Lucy runs into the room with a smile.
She's holding a picture in her hand and waves it at them. "I got something for our investigation," she yells loudly at the top of her lungs. Setting it down on the table that Ernie's sitting at. They all gather around to look at it. It was a blurry photo of the Moon Walker. You can barely see the shape of its body. Positioned like it's about to attack someone. Mouth open showing razor sharp teeth and an oddly human looking tongue. Kate raises an eyebrow at that. In all the information that she managed to find didn't the creature having any human characteristics.
Wondering why nobody mentioned it before. Are they trying to hide something from the public? If so, then why? Was it a human experiment gone wrong? Or a being trying and failing to imitate a person? "Where did you get this from?," she asks her girlfriend. Hearing her swallow before saying, "Maggie Shaw." The room went quiet at that. Shaw was the team's original founder and she stabbed them in the back. Selling their evidence to the Chinese government.
"Why did you go to her for help," Tennant says sounding betrayed. Having been the closest to Maggie out of all of them. "She claims to know the truth about the lunar beast," Lucy replies back with her voice sounding shaky. The rest look at her in shock. "Luce, you do realize that she's probably pulling your leg right?," Ernie questions as his eyes go wide. She sighs and runs her hand through her hair. Trying to figure out how to word what she's going to say next.
Knowing that her best friend could be right. That it's just a trick to throw them off course. So that she can hunt it down for herself. Or maybe she finally had a change of heart. "She said that the only person she'd to willing to talk to is you Tennant," she eventually manages to say. Her eyes roll in response. She should of seen that coming. Taking a deep breath and grabbing her car keys. Walking out the door without a word. Driving to where she knows Shaw is staying. Going through the prison gates.
Walking down the hallway with a guard by her side. Entering into a room where Maggie was sitting at a table wearing handcuffs. "Janie, how nice to see you again," she greets her with a fake smile. Said woman didn't say anything in response. "Talk now," she orders firmly while leaning against the wall. Not wanting to be anywhere near the other person. "Ah, I see that you know Tara was here earlier. About the Moon Walker," she retorts sarcastically. Spending her a smug smirk.
"What do you know about it," Jane interrogates her. The older lady tilts her head and tsks. "Well if you're going to have an attitude about it. Then I'm not going to tell you," she replies condescendly. Giving up on getting any information from her. She leaves feeling angry that she wasted her time. Deciding to head home for the night. Meanwhile, the others are continuing their conversation. "Look Luce what exactly did she say to you?," Whistler asks her. "She told me that she would only tell Tennant," Lucy responds.
Feeling bad for lying to them about Shaw actually said. Cause she did tell her the truth about what the Moon Walker actually was. Warning her to not say it anyone else or the creature will kill both of them. She rather keep it to herself than for Kate to lose someone else that loved. Just like how she lost her brother Noah. Not wanting to put her through that pain again. Her thoughts were interrupted when Ernie spoke up. "Maybe we should try and track it down," he suggests to them. The other two look at each other and nod in agreement.
The three grab their equipment and go to where the monster was last seen. Unpacking their gear and walking into the woods. A sense of dread fills the air as they feel like they been watched. Hearts pounding as a loud scream echoes around them. "I'm pretty sure that sounds like Kai," Kate says sounding panicked. They run towards his direction and stop dead in their tracks. Cause the Moon Walker was looking at them with its eerily glowing eyes.
Its gaze piercing through their souls. The mythologist is laying wounded on the ground. A gun is near his body without any bullets left in it. They all flinch as the beast lets out its signature ear piercing shriek. Bearing its teeth at them and positioning itself to attack. Lunging at Lucy and pinning her against the grass. Raising its claws and moving to strike. "I'm going to try and help you," she whispers to the beast. Managing to grab the syringe that she got from Shaw. Stabbing the creature with it and then things go deadly quiet.
