Zoe was never into figure skating but it never hurt to watch some competitions. She decided why not go watch this year's nationals?
As she made her way into the seating area she saw the skaters warming up on the ice.
Figure skating was the most watched sport in the Olympics and was going to be a huge thing after 2022.
Wow! Zoe thought to herself. They’ve got great figures.
Although they all had amazing figures one of them specifically caught her eye.
A blonde in a stunning blue dress skated across the rink. Her muscles glistened underneath the rink lights as she skated alongside the other skaters. She stuck out like a sore thumb.
As the skaters got off the ice and the first one began their program Zoe watched intently as each one of them skated with grace.
Zoe thought about the difference between elegant figure skating and rough hockey.
Then a girl with striped hair stepped onto the rink. Her dress was a white and silver with jewels adorning the neckline.
Figure skating definitely had some cool chicks.
Then it was the blonde’s turn.
“NEXT UP AMBER GLENN” The announcer boomed.
Amber Glenn huh? Nice name.
As she got into her starting pose the rink went silent with anticipation. Even Zoe herself was on the edge of her seat.
The girl moved as gracefully as a swan landing every jump with the beauty of a ballerina. Zoe watched in awe as the girl bent down to the ice hand sliding in front of her as the music ended.
The arena erupted in cheers as the girl joyfully skated off the ice to hug her coach.
Everybody sat waiting for her scores as it popped up. 150.50
She got first.
Zoe didn’t know it at the time but this would be the qualifier for the 2026 Olympics.
As the rink cleared Zoe got one last look at her before she disappeared into the tunnel.
On the drive home she couldn’t stop thinking about the beautiful blonde at the competition and she wanted to at least get the chance to meet her.
So Zoe made some phone calls.
Soon enough she was going to go for brunch with Amber Glenn.
One thing good about being a professional athlete is that if you have the right connections you may be able to meet some people. That’s exactly what Zoe did.
And if you knew a bit about Zoe, blondes were definitely her type. And since Zoe was single it might be a nice time to mingle.
