In the pooling darkness of the abyss, where broken toys slowly break apart over time, disintegrated.
A small pocket dimension laid a white haired figure, her bangs covering her eyes, as she slept, her hand absently moving like a pendulum. Her friend Cheshire sat in one of the chairs near her, licking his paws, his ears twitching every once in a while, on high alert for intruders.
A sigh escaped the once sleeping woman, a piercing lavender colored eye shown beyond her hair, stared at Cheshire.
“Will he appear again?” Asks Alyss, mumbling to herself, not expecting an answer, till in the shadows of her dimension started to crack, causing Cheshire to yowl.
“What's going on,nya?!” Shrieks Cheshire, jumping to his feet, his claws shined dangerously.
Alyss stayed where she laid, giggling to herself. “They're here.” Unmoving, ignored the concerned look from her pet, as the cracking grew, light peeked through, engulfing her ‘home’. Her dolls flew away from the commotion, their voices swallowed by the falling pieces, being dropped onto checkered floors.
Out of the glowing opening, came a lone shadow, its eyes directing looking at her, waiting idly for her. Alyss slowly stretched, yawning sleepily, stepped onto the floor, pieces still dropping around her, her dolls smashed the pieces, checking on her being till she was a few feet away.
Alyss curtised, smiling. “Eques, it's been a long time. How are you faring?”
A long drawn out whine came from the unicorn, Alyss frowned momentarily, before hiding it behind a small smile. The shadow Eques formed touched hers, connecting the two temporarily, a gentle voice rang out, causing a stir of anger in Alyss.
“Alyss, finally we meet. I've heard about you from Oz and Alice. But seeing you, you truly do look like— Sharon was cut off abruptly, anger fueling her.
“Do not mention her to me! She took everything and left me to rot here! She stole him from me! I have no desire to see that imitation!!”
Sharon stiffened, her brow raised at the accusation. “Imitation? Alyss, Alice is your twin!”
Alyss froze, her hands dropped from her hair, her eyes widening at the revelation, her lip warbled.
“...Why did he choose her?” Over me the unspoken words strung along, Sharon gave a solemn nod.
“Alyss, will you trust me?” Asks Sharon out of the blue, snapping the white haired girl out of her thoughts.
“No.” Alyss says curtly, turning on her heels, fell back onto her couch, her dolls making a barrier, cutting off communication.
Alyss hair draped around her frame, cradling her, tears fell onto satin pillows, the doll's cooing delightfully at the display, talking all at once, she fell into a deep slumber.
Alyss turned to face her domain, the wall slowly crumbling still, she waved a hand, slowly repairing the wall, sighing heavily.
“Master?”
“Yes, Cheshire?”
“...Do you think the Sharon girl was lying?”
“...yes, she has to be. For this place has been all I've known.”
Alice paced the floor of her bedroom, anger licking at her heels, stomped toward the Rainsworth heiress baring her teeth, ignoring the danger alerts blaring in her head.
“You failed me once. I want to communicate with her this time. You clearly have no idea how to talk to my sister.” Sneers Alice, glaring daggers at the heiress, who flinched inwardly at the harsh tone.
Sharon took her hand in hers, peering up at the other, in earnest. “Believe me, I may not have succeeded this time. But, Alice, this situation is delicate.
Alice barked out a laugh, tugging her hand away, her hands on her hips, as she leaned into Sharon's space. “Let me talk to her. I can safely handle this without interference. You have no clue how to deal with a Baskerville. Allow me to speak with my twin. Alone.” Demands Alice, flicking her hair behind her, proudly.
Sharon sighs deeply. “Okay. But you have one chance.” Sharon warned.
Alice grinned. “That's all I need.”
Alice disappeared into the Abyss, falling deeper and deeper till the domain opened up before her, she was now face to face with her twin.
Alice reached out, stroking her twin's cheek, comforting, like how Oz did for her.
“I’m here. Let's talk, Alyss.”
Alyss nodded sadly. “Then talk, we have no need for sweetened words.”
“...You still protect him, even after he abandoned you here, alone. Why?”
“He was the light of my life. He made me happy when no one else could. Vincent played his part and caused me to fall into myself. My Abyss became my home.”
“Mother is the abyss in a way, however, you are not what makes it this way. Your life was stolen from you at birth, as I lived freely. You have not.”
Alyss snorts. “Do you wish to gloat? How have you lived a life worth fighting chains for?”
Alice shakes her head, placing her hand on top of Alyss. “You've wanted peace all your life, but this tomb has twisted your intentions to fright. Allow yourself to come home.”
Alyss swallows. “This is home.”
“No, a home where you can live as you want. Without fear, to sleep in peaceful times rather than worry.”
“I've caused nothing but misery for you. Do not feel obligated to those who cannot be saved.”
Alice tugs her forward, both now on their feet. “I wish to walk with you, as my sister. We both have someone that cares for us warmly. Let's walk among the sunlight, not the abyss that consumed our desires, rotten away our core.”
“...Will he care for me?”
“Oz may be a dumbass manservant. But, he's considered a friend.”
“If you're sure, let's go. I wish to see the sun the way you knew it.”
Alyss took her sister's hand, walking into Eques' shadow stepped in the light, greeted by warm emerald eyes and a familiar smile.
“Welcome home.”
