Work Text:
Recently the kitsune clan has had a tragic downfall, having lost many allies they needed for wealthy living. Their only chance of survival was to send one of their own to a higher kingdom to get extra support through marriage. After some consideration they decided to send Yae Miko to the puppet kingdom where the Raiden Shogun had accepted the request of marriage. One of the head maids was now fixing Miko’s makeup for the carriage ride.
“Do you know what she is like?” the head maid paused for a moment before continuing to powder her face. “ I have not yet met her, like many maids but, with rumors she hasn’t been known to be overly friendly like you my lady. Though don’t worry like many of the high class she is respectful and I’m sure you will be comfortable there.” The maid said soothingly. Yae miko sighed in somewhat relief, “aliright thank you for reassuring me.” she said composed like usual. Once , the maid ( with the help of a few others) helped Yae Miko get dressed in her kimono. A soft sakura pink formal kimono with a deeper red obi belt and under robes.
Guards came to collect her and helped her into the carriage, making sure she was comfortable before sliding the door shut. Yae miko sat in silence with only a novel she had been reading for company. Yae Miko felt like days had passed by before the sliding doors opened. It was bright out, Miko felt like she was being blinded. A hand reached out to her, one of the guards. She took it and the hand helped her stand. Once she stood she saw her surroundings and noticed how different it looked. Everything was very purple and glistened like electro. She was led down the smoothly paved road surrounded by people all in shades of purple and indigo watching her in awe.
She was finally led to a beautiful abode, once inside she was traded off to a maid. The maid had dark blue that was cut to her neck with a business only expression on her face. “ My name is Kujou Sara. I will be the one taking you to the empress. Please follow me.” She said politely and started walking. Yae Miko silently followed, getting a little nervous. Everyone here looked so non chalant. Which was different from the usual hybrids in her home village. The two women finally got to the door. It wasn’t any door, it was a magnificent door. The fanciest door Yae Miko has ever seen. It was a deep purple with light accents with the Japanese characters “ Electro” down the door. Kujou knocked on the door “ permission?” She said in a clear strong voice. Soon later an almost cold voice responded “ granted”
Kujou pushed the door open and let Miko go in first. Yae Miko stepped inside, having to tell herself to stay composed and be respectful. Kujou spoke to the woman who was sitting at a desk, not bothering to look up. “ Your highness I have brought your future spouse, Lady Yae Miko.” The women at the dark wood desk glanced up. She had fair skin clearly not getting much sun. Her violet eyes showed nothing of what she actually was thinking in her mind. They really were a beautiful sight to behold. The violet eyes went over the kitsune's figure. “ Are you Yae Miko correct? How was your travels?” Yae miko took a deep breath and cleared her throat to speak. “ Yes, It was alright, obviously I don’t enjoy 8 hour carriage rides but it wasn’t too bad, well appreciated peace and quiet.”
Ei nodded “very well then, I’m glad, please sit down, we have much to discuss” She pointed to the chair in front of her desk. Yae miko stepped forward and sat down gracefully. Ei closed the book she was looking through earlier and kept all her attention towards the kitsune. “ When I first got the letter that your clan was struggling I was surprised. Your clan has always been popular.” Yae miko sighed as she listened. “ Just some of my clanmates having too large of a head. Now that we have felt these consequences we won’t be so careless.” she said with a bowed head. Ei let the corners of her lips lift slightly, “ please do not bow your head. You should not lose face because of people who are related to you” Yae miko quickly raised her head. “ Yes of course my apologies, if I may we can move on to the contract. Not to sound like a digger but I want to get the paper work out of the way.” she said as politely as she could. Ei nodded, “ of course I respect that you want to ensure the deal.” She pulled out a scroll, and cleared her throat. “ Alright. Here is the deal we sorted out, you coming here as my spouse will result in the kitsune village becoming a part of the puppet kingdom and receiving funds and other resources from our mainland. Is that all correct?” Ei looked up from reading with a question in her gaze.
Yae Miko quickly nodded, “ yes, perfect, I’m ready to sign.” she said with a sure expression. Ei gave her a pen carefully and yae miko took it and signed her name neatly next to the several other signatures. Ei took it back and sealed it. “ Now it’s official that we are married.” she said, giving Yae Miko a smile in case she felt any doubt.
A few months later
Yae Miko has gotten used to living in the puppet kingdom. Most of the people working in the palace are on a first name basis clearly not used to someone so willing to socialize. Yae Miko had definitely gotten more comfortable. The best part though, Yae miko and Ei have gotten extremely close and are usually together. They eat their three meals together and also help each other with numerous tasks. Although it’s not a standard love story in Inazuma they are both a sight that anyone would smile at.
