Summary:

A new take on a Shakespeare classic with some mixed up ships.

Chapter Text

A book laid with the title A Midsummer Night’s Dream laid on a fancy pillow before it opened by magic as it was transported to the toy city of Athens.

“Long ago in a kingdom far away, there were four young toys each with their own desire with one obstacle that stands in their way.” Mr Pricklepants voice narrated as it showed Woody, Buzz, Jessie and Bo standing in a throne room with Hamm.

“You see, Lady Bo of Porcelain was arranged to be married to Buzz Of Starlight. But Bo was madly in love with Woody, a kindly farmer who adored her. While Buzz also found the arrangement unfair, for his heart was set to another.”

Buzz looked over at Jessie.

“Bo’s lady in waiting, Jessie, who also harbors a secret affectionate for him.”

Jessie looked at him with a gentle smile making Buzz look away blushing.

“It was on this day that they were brought before the king.”

Guards Bunny and Ducky lifted two giant fans revealing Pricklepants as the king. “Me of course.” Pricklepants said flauntingly.

“Why am I not surprised?” Buzz muttered a bit annoyed. Mr Pricklepants glared at him before clearing his throat. “Now, what seems to be the problem here?”

Hamm, Buzz’s royal advisor step forward.

“Oh great king. Lady Bo’s kingdom has arranged for her, *mutters* along with her mass fortune.” Bo glared at him. “To be wed to Prince Buzz. But she’s refusing.”

“Cause I don’t love him your majesty.” Bo declared as she went to Woody taking his hands. “It is Woody that I love.”

“And I love her with all my heart.” Woody said gently.

“Awww, well there nothing wrong with being in love. Is a wonderful thing.” Said Pricklepants happily.

“Good sire, isn’t there any way out of it? I mean I agree with Bo, we shouldn’t be forced into this. If I were to marry,” Buzz’s eyes narrowed back to Jessie. “It is to be for love.” Jessie looked at him before looking away to hide her blush which made Buzz frown a bit.

Hamm pushed between Woody and Bo. “There is no choice!” Hamm yelled. “The law clearly states that if she refused to marry before the wedding date, it’ll be that she is sent to the attic, or death!” The girls gasped in worry.

Mr Pricklepants looked through his rule book finding it. “Ah yes here it is in bold wording. Sorry my dear, but there nothing I can do.”

Bo’s eyes filled with tears as she ran out of the room. “Bo wait!” Woody exclaimed as he chased after her, while both Buzz and Jessie stood there feeling distraught.

Later that evening, Buzz was sparring a tree to take his anger out on it when his sword got stuck. He groaned in frustration as he tried to pull it out of the tree. As he did so he did not notice Lady Jessie passing by seeing his struggle before she made her way over to him.

“Um, need some help?” She asked which caught Buzz by surprise making him lose his grip and fly off hitting the ground. “Oh my gosh! Are you ok? She asked worried as she came to his side as Buzz groaned rubbing his head before looking at her in embarrassment.

“L-lady Jessie, I uh I didn’t hear you coming.” He nervously shuttered as he quickly stood up to dust himself off.

“Oh no, it was my fault for sneaking out of nowhere like that. You’re not hurt are you? Are you ok?” She asked trying to check for any bruises on him which made blush. “I am now.” He said gently smiling at her. She smiled at him sweetly before she realized how close she was pulling back a bit. “Um, are you ok? I’ve never seen anyone stab a tree like that.” She said

Buzz sigh and sat on a bench. “Sorry, is just this stupid law.” Jessie frown before she sat next to him. “Yeah, it is pretty unfair.” She said gently.

“I mean Bo and Woody are clearly perfect for each other, but the king will never let them wed.”

“Is like he said, there’s nothing they can do.” Jessie said. Though her face said otherwise which Buzz noticed.

“I’m sorry, I don’t mean to burden you with my problems, I know you probably get enough from it form lady Bo.” Said Buzz as he rubbed the back of his head.

“No no, I’m not bothered at all. I’m glad that you can talk to me about things, I’ll always be happy lend an ear.” She said.

Buzz smiled at her. “I’m glad you are. You’re just so, easy to talk to is like you, don’t see me for my title. Around you I feel….normal.” He said finding himself looking into her emerald eyes. “Uh s-sorry I said something weird.” He added bashfully.

“You’re not weird, you’re kind, honest…charming. Any girl would consider herself lucky to be with you.” She said a bit star struck

The two were so lost in each other’s eyes they didn’t realize how close they were getting as their fingers slightly touched. But before they could get any closer, Jessie snapped out of it and quickly stood up which surprised Buzz. “I uh, I-I should go check on uh Lady Buzz- Uh Bo! Lady Bo.” She quickly said with embarrassment as she tried to hide her blushing face.

Buzz watch her begin to walk away before he stood up and said with all the courage he had. “I’d make a good husband Jessie.” He said gently. Jessie stopped in her tracks as she tried to hold back herself from crying. She turned her head just enough to look at Buzz but not all the way. “You would Buzz.” She said with a sad smile before walking away which made him look down frowning and clinched his chest.

Later that evening in the garden, Woody and Bo were by the fountain trying to think of how to get out of the arrangement.

“Oh Woody what do we do? She asked worried as Woody paced back and forth. “Darn that athenian law.”

“I can’t marry another if it means losing you.” Bo said. “Yes but I can’t be the reason you parish. Is not fair to either of us. I can’t lose you.” Woody said as he hugged her. Bo hugged him back. “I’d miss you too.” Said replied. “But just when it seemed all hope was lost what he suddenly had a great idea.” Narrated Pricklepants.

“Wait! I got it!” Woody exclaimed. “Huh? What is it?” Bo asked. “The rules said we can’t marry in Athen…but they never said about marrying anywhere else.”
He said with a hint of playfulness. Bo gasped.

“Woody, are you saying?” But before she could finish, Woody got down on one knee holding her hand. “Lady Bo? Will you elope with me?”

Bo stared at him with one hand covering her mouth before she smiled and jumped him into a hug. “Of course I will!” She exclaimed happily. Woody happily held her close.

After a moment, the two were at the gate with Woody heading back home to pack. “Now remember, once nightfall comes, and everyone is asleep, I shall wait for thee by the league of the woods.”

The two shared a sweet quick kiss before he rushed off. Bo stood there watching him leave with a hand to her heart.

“Oh Woody, I shall count the minutes until I see thee again.” She said sweetly before going back in the castle. She knew there was one person she could tell the secret to that she trust more then anyone as she knocked on Jessie’s door. Jessie opened it. “Jessie, there shall be a wedding after all.” She exclaimed happily before telling the plan in private.
