Work Text:
A few flecks of snow drift down from the overcast sky, making their winding way downwards from the heavens. A spruce cabin stands alone, its chimney letting out wisps of warm smoke. Its lantern-lit windows cast a few rays of light into the fast-darkening tundra. A well-worn trail, apparently shoveled through the snow, leads to a nearby forest. Inside the house, the yips of a joyful dog can be heard as it romps around wildly. The laughter of two avians echo through the darkness, piercing the quiet silence of the whitened world.
That was before.
This is after.
More snowflakes whirl down from the skies as the spruce cabin sags under the heavy weight of snow. The last few wisps of smoke are long gone now - at a glance, the cabin seems abandoned, the windows dark and empty. the winding trail buried under a white blanket. The wind whistles eerily through the tundra as a dog whines pitifully. The world is smothered underneath the weight of snow, underneath the weight of grief. Outside of the cabin, a pale gravestone rests alone.
The sound of sobs rips harshly through the sheet of silence as Parrot lets himself break.
