Namjoon never expected to be a musician, let alone an idol. He’s been passionate about music his whole life, but he’d always assumed it would stay a hobby, not his livelihood.
Idol life in Boyscouts as Rapmon is exciting and horribly outside of his comfort zone. He’s never been exactly charismatic, so to say (in high school, he usually ate lunch alone, and people threatened to tear his notebooks apart if he didn’t buy them treats from the vending machine), and now his paycheck revolves around fanservice and making cute faces for the girls that follow him around with cameras.
His group is in no way big, but they have a loyal following that comes to all of their small performances in underground theaters and the occasional Simply Kpop stage. Even in his small group, Namjoon isn’t particularly special. The most popular member is Jin, the leader, then Jimin, the main dancer, Yoongi, the main rapper, and then Namjoon in last place. Namjoon produces most of the music, so he doesn’t sing or rap much, and he’s never been an especially good dancer, due to his clumsy nature.
After performances, during the fansign event, most fans are there for another member. There are piles of people wearing shirts with Jin’s face on it, or baby chick headbands for Jimin, or basketball shirts for Yoongi. Throughout his entire career as an idol, there’s only been one person who shows up dressed for him.
“Jungkook! Welcome back! Same message as before, right?” Jimin cheers from Namjoon’s right. Namjoon glances over at the boy, who is dressed from head to toe in Namjoon-themed clothing. He has a koala headband, blue eye black, a shirt with Namjoon’s face, and purple pants.
“Oppa?” questions the girl in front of him. She has a purple Suga jersey on.
Namjoon comes back to reality, “Oh, sorry, how do you spell that again?” He scribbles down a cringy message and signs his name just as the line starts to move, and Jungkook is sitting across from him.
“Namjoonie-hyung I love you, if you could just write down “work hard Jungkookie” right here, and sign your name right here, and draw a heart right here, I would be very happy, and the outfit you wore today was so cute, and you’ve improved so much in your dancing skill, and I’m so excited to watch you guys at Simply Kpop, and I love you Namjoon,” Jungkook rambles without taking a single breath. By the time he’s finished his speech, he’s being pushed into the seat across from Yoongi, whispering a last confession of love. Namjoon didn’t get a single word in, but he’s not surprised; most of his interactions with Jungkook turn out similar.

There are certain things about Jungkook that everyone knows. He is 20, lives with Taehyung, works 4 part-time jobs (and is still broke), and he is totally, entirely in love with Namjoon. All of his friends watched his personal social media pages slowly shift to Boyscouts fan accounts. The moment he bought his first camera, solely for recording Namjoon, was when they knew there was no turning back.
Taehyung is to blame for the obsession, in a way. He had been supporting Jin ever since his old group debuted, locked himself in his room for two weeks when they disbanded, and was so excited when he heard Jin was redebuting. He dragged his childhood bestfriend Jungkook along to watch their public performance, and the younger fell in love. They hadn’t missed a single performance (other than that one time Jungkook got sick and had hallucinations of Namjoon so vivid, it’s almost like he didn’t even miss it) and went to every one together.
Hoseok became their friend later, at a Boyscouts concert. He asked them for help getting fansign tickets, and soon they taught him everything he needed to know about the life of an idol stan. He quickly became a Suga fanboy, enthralled by his cute badboy personality, and went to every show he could. They often meet up before and after concerts, and shop for gifts for the members together.

Jungkook created his stan account after Boyscouts’ third performance, and he’s amassed a decent following since. He and Taehyung are pillars of the Boyscouts fanbase, and they probably caused about half of all new stans. Still, Namjoon doesn’t have nearly as many fans as Jungkook hopes, so he makes sure to show as much support as possible (A.K.A. posting about him every minute).

“Did you guys see the rumor?” Taehyung asks Hobi and Jungkook as they eat at their normal pre-concert restaurant.
“Huh, what rumor?” Hoseok asks, his mouth full.
“People think Suga was seen with a girl in Daegu!”
“W-what?” Hobi’s jaw drops, “Suga! How could you do this to me?” He wails, paying no mind to the young couple side-eyeing him from a few seats over.
“It’s alright, Hobi,” Taehyung pats his back, “let it out.”
Jungkook scrolls through his phone, ignoring Hoseok’s cries, “I really don’t think it’s a big deal. I’m just worried how it will affect voting and streaming.”
“How is it not a big deal? Imagine if Namjoon was dating someone,” Hoseok whines.
“If Namjoon were dating someone, then he would have someone to let him know how beautiful and sweet he is every day. I mean, it would suck that it’s not me, but I just want the most people possible loving Namjoon.”
Hoseok perks up, “Wow, you’re so wise, Jungkookie!”
“He’s just too in love with his bias. He would still bias Namjoon even if he spat on him,” Taehyung complains.
“If he spat on me, I would scoop it up and put it in a vial to wear on a necklace for the rest of my life,” Jungkook replies, totally serious.

“Suga, I’ll support you no matter what people say!” Jungkook hears Hoseok yell from his right. That sure was a change of heart.
“Namjoon, you looked amazing today, and your confidence really shined in your rap, also could you sign right here, and draw a heart right here, and write “happy birthday Jungkookie” right here, and—“
“It-It’s your birthday? How old are you?” Namjoon asks timidly.
“Well, my actual birthday’s on Saturday next week, but you don’t have a performance then. I’ll be 21 years old.”
“Wow, only 21?” At Jungkook’s confused expression, he continues, “I just- I thought that you must be a bit older, for you to be able to support me so well.”
Jungkook blacks out for the rest of the fansign, being pushed around by the staff from one place to the next.
“Earth to Jungkook?” Jin snaps his fingers in Jungkook’s face.
“I support him so well~” Jungkook swoons.
“So you want me to write the usual.”
