Work Text:

White groggily opened his eyes, staring at a ceiling he didn't recognize. He laid there, blinking slowly one eye at a time. He had to get up. There was an assignment he needed to get over with, even if the desire to laze in bed was strong, he had to shave and groom himself. White stretched as he put his arms to his side, lifting himself up suddenly. He blinked again, trying to dispel the sleep from his eyes.

He scanned for where he could have tossed his clothes, being only in his underwear. He looked over and saw Black snoring, in the same state as him. White admired the mess of a man, deep red welts on their back. White felt a little proud of his marks, reaching a hand out to trace them. Black squirmed, trembling a bit at being exposed to the air.

White leaned in and pressed a kiss to Black’s head, covering them up. He grabbed one of Black’s shirts, not wanting to wear his strewn around ones. Going into the kitchen, he started the coffee maker, pondering on what to cook for Him and Black.

The door bell broke the silence, causing White to groan. Figures the mailman or whoever it was came to ruin the sweet morning. White dragged himself to the door, bracing himself to have to pretend to be the owner of the apartment.

White opened the door, jolting before quickly slamming the door shut. He didn’t even unlock the door chain, but that didn’t matter now that he was about to slaughter Black.

He had seen a woman, decently dressed with styled frizzy hair. She looked like she was expecting to meet Black. Black was going to meet a woman, the only mistake being that they were a fucking idiot thinking He would never find out.

White stomped his way back to the bedroom, lunging onto the bed and yanking a pillow. Black had shot up awake, but was forced back down as the pillow was shoved onto their face. White held the pillow down, not letting up even as Black clawed at his arms in a panic. Then, seeming to register their situation, stopped. Black calmed down as he simply allowed what was going on.

“You fucking prick.” White hissed with venom, jostling the pillow to disrupt Black's calm breathing

“Mfffhmg?” Black tried to speak through the pillow, before reaching up to pull the pillow aside. “What are you talking about?” Black questioned, not really sure if White was cracking from pressure or suffering a mental break.

White yanked the pillow off, deciding to just smack Black repeatedly with it instead. “You. Fucker. Cheating. On. Me!” White said each word with every hit of his pillow. “With. Some. Bitch!” White was on the verge of tears, fresh with rage.

Black grabbed White’s wrists, sitting up with wide eyes as He stared at him. “Huh? Who the fuck would I be going out with? Where did you even get this idea?” Black stared in bewilderment, taken aback at being accused of being a cheater. Not to mention, a little hurt.

White stared at them, brows furrowed deeply. “There’s a woman right outside your door.” He stated factually, anger threatening to boil over.

Black looked even more confused, the cogs struggling to turn in his brain. Black then glanced at where the door would be, a moment of silence, before looking panicked. “SHIT!” Black jumped out of bed, tripping onto the floor with a thud.

White watched as Black got up and immediately went to grab a shirt and pants, practically confirming his fears. “I can’t believe you.” White muttered, staring hurt as he watched Black quickly get dressed and gathered his clothes in a hurry. Black then yanked him out of bed and dragged him to the bathroom.

“It’s my sister.” Black said out of breath, about to close the door before White stopped him.

“What? How come I’ve neve-“

“She’s married and lives with her husband. I forgot she was coming to meet me so we could visit our parents.”

Black was evident in a panic, looking like a wreck with his five o’clock shadow. Black was never good at lying during high stress situations. Well, never talkative to be precise, preferring to just stay silent to avoid spilling info. White finally calmed down a bit, nodding.

“…okay.” White watched as Black was about to shut the door, before quickly opening it and giving White his clothes while giving him a peck on the lips. Then, White was left alone in the bathroom. He swiped his hair back, sighing deeply. Goodness. He was quick to jump to conclusions.

White started dressing up, keeping Black’s shirt underneath. He deserved it anyway. White grabbed a razor and went about making himself presentable.

~~ .../.--./-.-- ~~

Black rushed to the door, quickly unlocking and flinging it wide open, nearly ripping the door off its hinges. His sister stood there, tilting her head as she stared puzzling at him.

“So… you put pants on. Didn’t shave during that rush?” She stated sarcastically, crossing her arms as she tapped her shoe. Black simply huffs, ruffling his hair.

“Um yeah, sorry about that sis… forgot you were coming over.” Black said a bit meekly, feeling guilt for having actually forgotten. She simply rolled her eyes, snickering a bit as she walked inside, much to Black’s panic.

“Yeah yeah, go and get ready I’ll wait for you.” She walked over to the table and sat down, smoothing out the creases in her skirt.

“U-um yeah I’ll be ready real quick so you can just wait outside.” Black tried to offer, feeling nauseated the longer she was inside.

She stared at him, tilting her head. “My, you’ve become more of an asshole since the last time we met. Wait outside. Are you serious?” She questioned, “I’m not going to stand out there defenseless waiting for your snail pace to get dressed. I’m fine here, I’m not gonna snoop through your stuff.” She reasoned, raising her hands up to show she meant no harm. He didn’t want to admit it, but she had a point considering where he was currently living. It was an awful location for a Drop house.

Truly, even after all the years apart, she didn’t change one bit. That felt comforting considering his life was a whole mess of conflict and changes he never expected. Black sighed, shutting the front door as he went back to his bedroom to get fully dressed.

Black pondered on how he was going to get his rival/lover out of the apartment without his sister seeing them. He didn’t even want to think how his sister would look at him after seeing that he spent the night with the enemy. His parents already knew, and their view of him had evidently changed. The gross feeling bloomed in him, trying to stay calm, or at least feign it.

Black tried to gather the last of his suit he needed, swiftly kicking White’s tie under his bed. “So how is your husband? Doing alright?” Black loudly spoke, hoping to alert White that his sister was still here. Dammit, the lights were even on in the bathroom.

“Oh, you know him. Still struggling to stand up for himself at work. But thankfully he got a raise. But only after his old boss quit, Hah!” his sister yelled back, not bothering to move from her seat, thankfully.

Black was glad to hear from his sister, chuckling a bit. “Still hasn’t grown a spine? I thought he would have by now.” Black rummaged through his closet, grabbing an old jacket he cherished. Black finally found his tie, momentarily remembering from last night how White used it like a leash. He shook his head of the memory, quickly going to a mirror to tie it properly. Thank goodness he at least set up steamed pants and jacket days in advance.

Black squeaked hearing the bedroom door creak, seeing his sister walk into the room. “Sis? What are you doing?” Black was panicking again, trying to quickly plot a way to diverge from her discovering White. He quickly glanced at the bathroom door again, seeing the lights out.

She stared at him, an apprehensive look on her face. “ I’m just going to use your bathroom… ugh J, your tie is crooked.” She walked up, undoing the clumsily done tie and redoing it with graceful ease. “If you're worried about your pigsty of a place, it’s fine. I lived with you before, this crummy place ain't so different from the college dorm.” She tried to offer warmly, smiling as she reminisced. Black could only roll his eyes, not finding it comforting.

“I wasn’t that bad back then. And it's not even my fault this place looks like shit.” Black tried to excuse, averting his gaze as several worse case scenarios rushed through his mind. He prayed to god White wouldn’t leave the bathroom.

“Sure, J. Sure.” With a swipe of imaginary dust off Black’s shoulder, she was pleased with her work. A quick turn on her heels and she was back on her original track.

“No! Jane Don’t!” Black exclaimed, instantly rushing to her in a second. Jane turned, looking at Black with her hand hovering over the bathroom door handle.

“Okay. Seriously, you are worrying me. Are you okay?” She asked, more out of concern than annoyance.

Black simply stared at her, pleading, but unable to say why. He stumbled over his words as the first thought he could muster. “I… I’m fine it’s just that… c-can’t you just hold it. There is a giant rat in the bathroom and I know you don’t like rodents.” Black tried to sound convincing. You know like not a liar, but he was failing miserably as his sister stared at him, brow raised.

“J… I have killed far more rats than you have ever killed the White spies, I think one rat will be fine.”

And just like that, Black internally died as he watched her turn around. He closed his eyes as he prepared himself, expecting to hear her scream that there was a man in his bathroom. The door creaked open, then shut. He opened his eyes again, staring at the wood.

What?

Black stepped back, feeling his body go rigid. What was happening? Did Jane see White?
But there weren't any sounds of talking. Black was swift on his feet and he zoomed through his apartment, looking for White. Did they vanish somehow? They couldn’t have escaped. There weren't any windows in his bathroom. Wait, but there was his bathtub with a curtain. Black rushed back to his bedroom, seeing his sister already coming out.

“Is the Big Rat in the walls? I didn’t see any furry fella in there?” Jane asked teasingly, seemingly ready to advise Black on how to take care of his rat problem. Black simply nodded along, watching his sister head out his bedroom. Black immediately looked around the bathroom, seeing no traces. He pulled back the shower curtain and saw nothing. Black looked at the walls like he expected to find something. Surprisingly, there was something. A giant square seemingly removed from his wall, high up too, showing the blue sky clearly.
“What the?” Black could only manage that before he heard Jane scream.

Black flashed into the kitchen, seeing his sister holding a chair at White, who had one hand up in surrender as the other held a cup of coffee. forfucksakesWhite.

“J! There's a man!” Jane exclaimed, evidently panicked as she turned her head to him. White seemed to not take her as a real threat, sipping from HIS mug. Black pressed his lips into a line, irritated at White but a quick second decision had to be made. He walked over to her, having Jane lower the chair.

“It's fine. I know him”, he admitted shamefully. White watched, letting him do the talking for now as they scanned his sister. “I wasn’t sure how to explain to you.” Black prepared himself, unable to lie straight to his sister’s face.

“I’m sorry Miss,” White interrupted, putting on a friendly smile as they sensed Black was going to spill more than necessary, “I’m a friend of your brother. I was drinking with him last night, and it seems we drank way too much!” White chuckled smoothly, naturally making conversation even with Jane staring daggers into them. Her angered stare slowly switched to Black, feeling the fury directed at him now.

“Is that so? Well,” She turned to White again, bowing her head, “well it's nice to finally meet a friend of my brother. Although I didn't expect for you two to be so close.” She commented, making White stiffen. Oh no, she knew he was the enemy, he was screwed.

The pat from her surprised Black, turning and seeing her looking at him with the smuggest expression. Huh? White finished his coffee and set it on the counter.
“Well, I really should get going, seeing as I’m just keeping you late.” White commented with a charming smile, making Black feel a bit flushed.

“Oh! So you know?” His sister remarked, leaving both him and White puzzled in silence.

“Hmm? Know what?” White asked with a smile, glancing at Black nervously. She really didn’t change, even her sharp attention to detail.

“Oh hoho, no need to act coy!” She chirped, popping up in a good mood. “You know about his plan to leave somewhere today, yet went to his crummy apartment yesterday to drink. You are a very great friend.”

Fuuuuuuuuuck, she noticed the last thing he expected her to catch. White had kept a stone face, peeking at Black quickly. Yup, neither of them expected this. She was laying it on thick that she knew, and honestly… Black was just relieved that she didn’t seem to care too much.

“Well miss, I appreciate the warm welcome, but I believe the two of you need to go. Same as I.” White made the perfect diversion to get everyone out. Jane only happily trotted over to him and grabbed their hands.

“It was great to finally meet you! I hope you two live happily together” Jane cheerfully replied, making White genuinely blush. She quickly let go and headed out. “Alright! Meet you at the elevator!” She announced, closing the front door and just like that, gone from sight. Black sighed as he hid his face in his hands, his face burning as he wished to evaporate. He felt two warm hands caress his shoulders, causing him to peek through his fingers.

“Your… sister is an interesting woman.” White commented, trying to offer a comforting smile. Black relaxed at that. Letting his hands drop and reveal his face. White leaned in and pressed a quick kiss to his cheek. Black leaned in as well and pressed a kiss to their forehead.

“By the way… how did you get here?” Black questioned, snuzzling into White.

“I crawled out the bathroom window and around the building into the kitchen window.” they explained with the calmness of someone stating they did nothing bizarre.

Black slowly pulled away. “Window? Is that what that was?”

“Yours was covered in grout.” White responded, answering all Black’s remaining questions. Damn this apartment sucked. With a heady sigh Black gives White one more kiss to their neck, pulling away to head out.

“Your tie is under my bed.” Black let them know, fully trusting White to lock the apartment. White waved and Black finally shut the door, sighing hard.

He rushed down the stairs, feet quick as he hopped over some steps. He finally caught up with his sister, her heels clanking slowly as she purposely delayed her stride.
“Soooo? He’s who opened the door first. No wonder he slammed the door shut. How long have you been married?” She immediately asked, no subtly this time. Black nearly tripped and fell down the stairs. His face turned hot as he stared in shock, eyes wide as his sister smiled, genuinely happy for him.
He was not pumped for the interrogation she was going to put him through on the drive to their parents.

Notes:

Okay so this was how I originally planned the story to progress, but I did a different part where Black’s sister discovered White in the bathroom. But I felt it was too soon. Guess the first draft always has some merit to it.

Also thanks to a pookie of mine, I might write another fanfic with a similair title.
