Work Text:
Today was a hot summer's day. The temperature was at its peak. Sylus hates the sun and the business deal which was supposed to end hours ago got dragged on.
As soon as the deal gets over, Sylus lets Luke and Keiran wrap up so he can get home. He checks the time it's quarter past four. A quiet sigh escapes him as he runs a hand through his hair.
The day's events are weighing on his shoulders as he gets into the car. Now all he wants to do is go home, shower and get out of the damned suit he was wearing.
The car slows on the familiar driveway of his home. He takes the keys out. One hand was already loosening the first button of his shirt. But just as he steps out of the car, Sylus senses their presence.
Two pairs of light sneaky footsteps and their whispering voices. Oh, are they planning to ambush me? He thinks. Sylus simply turns around amused to indulge them. SPLAT!! SPLAT!! Two water balloons were launched right on him as he heard the fit of giggles.
His two girls are laughing, and his little one says, "We got him mum!" He can't help but break into a wide grin as he sees your grinning faces. You high-five your daughter, "Good job, Sweetie."
The little girl is already running to get more water balloons. You see his expensive suit drenched "Oh no... Did the big bad leader of Onychinus lost his edge already?"
You poke his chest, he grabs your hand and presses a kiss on your knuckles. "I see you've turned our backyard into a war zone and now baiting me for a fight."
You can't help but smile at him. "What can I say water wars are one of the best summer activities..." You hand him a water gun "... I can't let you miss out on the fun, so just pick—" SPLAT!! Your daughter has launched a water balloon right on your face.
"Hey, I was still talking?! And I thought we're targeting your dad." You wipe your face and Sylus sprays water on your face with the water gun.
"Too slow, kitten."
"You're so paying back for that Sy" you throw a water balloon which nearly misses him. Soon, the backyard turns into pure chaos. You start attacking with water balloons and Sylus uses the water gun. You're not backing down and so is he. Your daughter keeps switching sides whenever one person gets cornered. It ended with everyone getting completely soaked and one broken flowerpot, but it sure was fun.
You and your daughter lie on the patio catching your breath. "So how was your day?" Sylus realizes he had forgotten all about his tiresome day. "It was a long day... But I'm so happy to be home."
"That's good... I guess now we have to change out of these clothes." The wet clothes sticking to your body are starting to feel uncomfortable, but you feel so tired to move.
Your 5-year-old makes grabby hands and says, "Dada up." You mirror your daughter and say, "Yeah, Sylus up." Sylus chuckles and lifts both of you in each of his hands and carries you inside.
"My two girls are already exhausted huh?" Your daughter cleverly cuts in. "I think icecream will bring my energy back." You turn to her, "No icecream before dinner." She throws her head back and groans.
Sylus smiles as he walks inside carrying his two girls, thinking to himself. Every day brings new chaos, but I wouldn't trade this life for anything.
