Chapter Text

The sun rests on the orange-hued sky, the dusty clouds rolling in, thus blocking the view from Five's window. He sighed as he moved away from the window, closing it in the process with a fluid motion. The room was quiet, and it left Five to ponder his thoughts.

It had been a few days after Ben had laced their food with Marigold and left the family stumped with their powers going haywire, appearing at random times. It made life a little difficult, nonetheless they couldn't do anything about it, so they let it go. Five sits on his chair, looking at his room marred with past formulas. He analyzes the past events the few days he didn't have powers, until a soft knock broke him out of his trance. He shifted uncomfortably in his chair, tensing up as the door opens.

"Five? I'm coming in.." Viktor creaks open the door, hearing a quiet swhoop sound greeted with a room empty of the owner. He opens it more, placing his foot on the floor of Five's room. A small gust of wind poured out from the window that looked closed, but had a small little gap at the bottom. Oh.. He probably teleported-- I'll tell the others. He thought, his eyes landing on a piece of blank paper. He hesitated for a moment, after a few seconds he leaned down and wrote Dinners ready. in neat cursive, put it on his siblings desk, and left the room immediately.

Five warped, accidentally. He berated himself mentally, scanning his surroundings. It was a little hard with how noisy the crowd was, but it was perfect because he knew exactly where this was.

The town square.

The tall buildings and bustling atmosphere with cars running was an obvious giveaway, and he relaxed and began walking to the house. The crowd was annoying and pissed off Five due to him sometimes getting pushed and bumped into earning apologies from people due to his small stature. "Jesus, it's hard to navigate during rush hour." He started picking up his pace a little, steps a little more hurried. Someone knocked, probably Viktor from the shoes, but possibly someone else as well.. I hope nothing's happening there.

He ran into another wave of crowds, eventually slowing him down. More people started coming, and any talk or brief words to him was shrugged off until he saw a familiar figure a little farther from his obstacle.

Adriana.

He stopped in his position, halting his breath. He exhaled slowly, Ofcourse she would be here. We live in the same town. he scoffed, the hoard near him slowly thinning. His eyes tracked her movements; eventually, she stopped, looked around, and started scanning the mass. What's wrong with her? he thought, walking a slightly leisurely pace than earlier. She retreats to a small spot with shade, assuming she wanted a more empty place. Five looks at her far, not even moving anymore. People watching was an activity of his he would oftentimes do without anything in mind; Though in this instance it was more of a personal interest of his. More personal than he'd like to say. She's someone from my past.. Way far back. he reflected his behavior, and brushed it off.

Something about her made him stray from his original path, eventually he stood at Viktor's old house. And also, she vanished from his sight. There's no way, he searched near her old spot. "Five?" She starts, his head whipped to look at his old friend. "Hey.." He returned the greeting. "I didn't know you still lived here," she said. "Me neither, I thought you moved?" His tense posture was replaced to a more guarded one, eventually resigning to his fate. "I did, well.." She stared at him, reaching into her pockets. "I came back. Like, a little over last week." She answered, phone in hand. "..Can I have your number..?" She motioned at the object in her hand, Five's expression a stumped pleasant surprise. "Sure, but I don't have a phone on me right now." He released a breathy chuckle and smiled, "I can tell you what my number is."

"That's fine," They exchanged their numbers, Five bid her goodbye with a smile and walked unhurried towards the house, eventually reaching it. He opened the door to get greeted by a huge interior, and moved swiftly towards his room.

He opened the door and closed it, a paper on the side of his view flying past. He mumbles about something before picking it up, it read Dinners ready. It said, and he then later put it down and proceeded to descend the flight of stairs down to the kitchen dinner table, "What happened?" Diego asked, "I teleported to the town." He replied curt, taking his meal and microwaving it.

"You're oddly merry. What happened?" He repeated, and Five responded with a nothing.
