stab me in the neck, would ya?

Summary:

the garden conversation that da-jeong and bok-su had, except with swap (protagonist) myeong-hoon and swap (deuteragonist) bok-su.

dan myeong-hoon tries to reconnect with go bok-su by bothering her peace and quiet.

Notes:

hellloooo !! this is a co-written fic/au that's made by me (leon) and my friend avery !!

first off, if you read the tags and saw the 'transphobia' tag, i'd like to explain to you that myeong-hoon in this au has kind of internalized transphobia and takes it out on bok-su (a transfem/transwoman) because he's insecure about other trans people wearing clothing that doesn't "traditionally fit" their gender.

also i would like to state me and avery do NOT ship myeong-hoon and bok-su. in this au they're friends and friends ONLY.

okay, that's all i have to say about that. thank you for reading !! <3 -leon

Work Text:

> You walk into an area of the venue that is only surrounded by hedges. You see a conveniently placed fountain to your left and a bench to your upper-right, whom Dr. Go is sitting on, along with a black dog whose leash is tied to the bench’s leg. Dr. Go stares down at her feet, probably spaced out or overwhelmed. Who could blame her?

> You decide to walk up to her.

Dan Myeong-hoon:

“So, you were hiding out here?”

> You say, cocking a brow, and then sitting down next to her, keeping somewhat of your distance, acting like you know better.

> Dr. Go flinches at the sound of your voice. She seems to reluctantly look up at you, but she flashes you an awkward smile, as if people were still watching her. She doesn’t respond to your greeting.

Dan Myeong-Hoon:

“Didn’t you miss me, Dr. Go? It was like you’ve seen a ghost.”

> There’s a hint of malice in your voice that she picks up on.

Dr. Go Bok-su:

“I didn’t think you’d be out this early.”

> She says, looking down at her feet again. She starts bouncing her leg.

> You smile. A shit-eating grin.

Dan Myeong-hoon:

“I missed you, Bok-su.”

> Dr. Go looks at you and scowls.

Dr. Go Bok-su:

“I’m sure you did, Myeong-hoon.”

> You ignore her sarcasm.

Dan Myeong-hoon:

“How could you not get emotional over an old friend? I’m a bit hurt. Is it not reciprocated?”

> Dr. Go rolls her eyes.

Dr. Go Bok-su:

“Look, I get that you’re upset that I didn’t invite you, alright.”

Dan Myeong-hoon:

“Hm. I guess that’s enough. I ended up making it here anyway, so no harm done, right?”

Dr. Go Bok-su:

“...right.”

> She rolls her eyes again, and turns her head left so she can get you out of her peripheral.

> You decide to ask about the bride.

Dan Myeong-hoon:

“So that’s who you’re marrying?”

> You lightly scoff and smirk, like you’re teasing her. Dr. Go fully turns her head around to you for the first time and growls.

Dr. Go Bok-su:

“And what the hell is that supposed to mean?”

Dan Myeong-hoon:

“Nothing, nothing. She seems nice. Is she also a doctor?”

> Her face and tone softens.

Dr. Go Bok-su:

“Yes. We worked at the same hospital.”

Dan Myeong-hoon:

“I’m impressed. Managed to get with someone as hard-working as you. Not the type you usually go for, hmm?”

> She furrows her brows in confusion.

Dr. Go Bok-su:

“...please enlighten me– Or are you insulting me, again?”

Dan Myeong-hoon:

“What do you think I mean, dear?”

> Dr. Go cringes at you calling her ‘dear’.

Dr. Go Bok-su:

“Don’t call me that, Myeong-hoon.”

> She hisses. You chuckle.

> You decide to change the subject.

Dan Myeong-hoon:

“How does it feel to wear a suit to your wedding?”

Dr. Go Bok-su:

“What–?”

Dan Myeong-hoon:

“I didn’t think you’d wear something so… traditionally masculine. Not typical for someone like you.”

> She blinks slowly, trying to process what you just told her.

Dr. Go Bok-su:

“What are you– Nevermind.”

> There’s an aching silence between the two of you. Dr. Go goes back to staring down at her feet, occasionally side eyeing you. You don’t want to leave her side yet, so you decide to add on to the conversation.

Dan Myeong-hoon:

“You chose white?”

Dr. Go Bok-su:

“What– Oh, yeah.”

Dan Myeong-hoon:

“It’d be a shame if something spilled on you.”

> She aggressively turns her whole body towards you, lips angrily pursed and eyes slightly widened.

Dr. Go Bok-su:

“You know, I do enjoy your outfit too, but maybe you missed the memo on the dress code.”

> You raise a brow.

Dan Myeong-hoon:

“Dress code?”

Dr. Go Bok-su:

“I mean, all black? Come on Myeong-hoon, it’s not like you’re here for a funeral.”

> You roll your eyes and scoff.

Dan Myeong-hoon:

“Well, I thought I dressed right for the occasion.”

> Since Dr. Go is fully facing you now, you observe her face. Her face looks different. More… feminine. Softer. Different from how you knew her in college. Her skin is clearer now, no site of a single bump on her face, even though she’s obviously wearing make-up. But there’s one feature about her that she’s missing. A feature that makes her, her.

> You scoot closer to Dr. Go and raise your hand up to her face.

Dr. Go Bok-su:

“W–What’re you doing?”

> She asks. You can hear the fear in her voice.

Dan Myeong-hoon:

“Stay still, dear. I’m not gonna hurt you.”

> You start rubbing her cheek with your thumb, with the purpose of wiping the foundation off of whatever she’s hiding on her cheek. Dr. Go stays perfectly still, not moving a muscle. She looks scared. You can see it in her eyes.

> When it all comes off, you study the healed gash on her cheek. You realize how much it stands out without make-up. No wonder why she covered it up.

Dan Myeong-hoon:

“There it is. It’s healed so much, hasn’t it?”

> Dr. Go just quietly stares at you.

> You run your thumb over the scarred tissue, feeling its bumps and ridges.

Dan Myeong-hoon:

“A decade worth of healing a nasty wound. A simple reminder of our past, hmm?”

> She doesn’t respond.

> You take your hand off her face and get up without saying a word to her, not even a simple bye. Before you can leave the area she calls out for you.

Dr. Go Bok-su:

“Dan Myeong-hoon, wait.”

> You stop in your tracks and turn around, seeing that she’s walking towards you, but stops in the middle of the area, probably keeping her distance.

Dr. Go Bok-su:

“Listen– Just, please, it’s a wedding. My wedding. Just let me have this and we’ll talk immediately after, okay?”

> You smirk almost playfully.

Dan Myeong-hoon:

“Why are you so convinced I’m here to do something? I shouldn’t have anything to be mad about, after all. Those were your words, not mine.”

> She sighs. She seems to relax a bit, but you can tell she’s still on guard.

Dan Myeong-hoon:

“So relax and enjoy your wedding.”

Dr. Go Bok-su:

“...fine.”

> End scene.
