Chapter Text
It was the day of the spawn festival where everyone in town and church get together and pray around the fire and do fun minor rituals to fill the day and honor the spawn. The young 10 year old Two Time was assigned multiple tasks to set up the festival. The big one was to help collect wood.
”And if you collect as many wood, you’ll get this special treat graced by the spawn’s grace itself!” Teacher Amarah showed Two Time the piece of candy. Two Time smiled brightly.
”Candy that was graced BY the spawn? Consider me in!” And so, they went to the woods to gather sticks. As they picked up sticks one by one, they hear rustling noises. The noises kept getting louder and louder, it honestly annoyed Two Time. Finally, Two Time looked around to see what was making that noise and as soon as they turned around, a child was staring straight into their eyes. “AH! BY THE SPAWN’S NAME PLEASE GRACE ME AND COVER ME IN PROTECTION!” Two Time yelled as they jumped back. The child was shook at first and then started laughing.
”Haha! You scared me! If I hadn’t seen your tail, I would’ve punched you! I thought you were a robber!” The child laughed as they patted Two Time’s back to check if they were ok. Two Time took a second to recollect themselves and looked at the child. The child had a pretty purple flower tucked behind his ear and hat brown hair and the cloaks everyone in the town and church wore. Phew, the child was a part of their group.
”Do I…know you? You knew me by looking at my tail, but I cannot recall who you were…sorry.” Two Time asked nervously. The child scratched their head.
”Ah! Sorry. I forgot we hadn’t met yet. My name is Azure wrath. We have met a couple of times but that was when we both were so busy. We’re in the same age group! We’ve went praying before, but it was with teacher Amarah and others…and of course I’d know you! You’re the infamous student of teacher Amarah! I heard you were gonna be the next sacrificer, just like teacher was! I’m a huge fan by the way!” Azure wrath shook Two Time’s hand playfully and Two Time blushed in embarrassment. This was the first time they’ve met a fan! Suddenly, the two kids could hear the church’s bell ringing from afar.
“Oh no! We gotta go back before the village’s gate closes! We can’t be late to the festival! We’ll be outcasts and have to live outside in the streets of robloxia!” Two Time cried as they tightly held onto the sticks they collected.
“We need to hurry! Give me some sticks!” Azure wrath grabbed a handful of the sticks in Two Time’s hand and grabbed Two Time tail, dragging them along while running. In no time, the two children made it to the gate before it was closed.”You kid’s gotta be here faster! You almost missed the festival!” One of the village’s members chuckled and pushed the kids inside. The town was decorated with flowers and flags to the brim! Two Time was astonished and almost dropped all their sticks. Thankfully, Azure brought Two Time back to their senses by giving them the sticks.
“You better hurry! Teacher Amarah needs those sticks!” Azure giggled. Two Time gasped, they had taken too much time! Teacher is waiting for them!
“Thank-thank you!” Two Time smiled and quickly ran back to the church where teacher should be waiting.“Ah! There you are my child.” Teacher gently exclaimed and collected the sticks from Two Time’s hands. “May I ask…what took you so long?” Teacher Amarah asked as they put the sticks in a bag.
“My apologies, Teacher. I ran into another student, and he scared me quite a bit. No worries though! I managed to befriend him!” Two Time happily answered back to Amarah with a bright smile, allowing Teacher Amarah to nod slightly with a polite smile."It’s good to hear that you’re starting to make friends. I was quite worried. I don’t want you to be lonely, especially since you’ll be the next sacrificer.” Amarah patted Two Time’s head and held their hand. “Come now, we must leave now, help me carry the bags. We need to put them in the fire pit for the festival.” Amarah told Two Time. Two Time nodded and grabbed a huge bag. The two of them walked down the street, members were chanting together, praying together, and just…hanging out together. The sense of faith everyone had towards the spawn brought Two Time a sense of warmth. And so, the teacher and student threw the bags of sticks into the fire, were the fire bursted in more flames, scaring Two Time a bit, but eventually became tamed.
“Teacher, may I hang with Azure wrath?” Two Time asked Amarah. “I understand if I still have a lot of tasks, because I’m your student and all, but I do wish to hang with Azure wrath. He is quite kind to me, and I wish to speak to them.” Two Time asked quietly. Teacher looked surprised when Two Time said this, and smiled warmly towards the child.
”Of course. You may hang with Azure wrath, child. I see you’ve grown fond of him quickly.” Amarah replied and Two Time’s eyes brighten. Two Time immediately said goodbye to Amarah and frolicked around town to find Azure. Except…Two Time couldn’t find him anywhere. By the time it was dark, it was already time for the big ceremony. The bell was ringing, calling everyone to the center of town. Two Time’s stomach sank. They felt…sad. Yes. That’s what this feeling was called. Sadness. They walked back to the center of town and noticed EVERYONE from the village was here…that means Azure had to be here somewhere. Two Time walked around in the crowd but they still couldn’t find Azure anywhere!
“Hello!” Azure said from behind. Two Time immediately turned around.
“Azure wrath! I was looking everywhere for you!” Two Time exclaimed, their tail wagging. Azure laughed a bit.“Hehe, I heard! I thought you’d forget about me again, I didn’t expect you to actually remember me! And look around the entire town for me…” Azure blushed. Two Time raised an eyebrow.
“Who told you that?” Two Time asked Azure.
“Teacher did! Does that mean we’re friends, Two Time?” Azure’s eyes brightly shined. Two Time nodded.
“We were destined to be friends! I just know the spawn purposely made us meet! Come, let’s pray around the fire pit together!” Two Time held Azure’s hand and sat down around the huge fire. Everyone was praying, chanting, singing. The bell rung once again and silenced everyone. Then, on a podium was all the Teachers and the head leader of the town. After a few talks about the spawn’s destiny and stuff, it was now time to announce new members and the new sacrificer. Teacher Amarah stepped on the podium.
“We’d like to warmly introduce our new members of our small town, please welcome [The new people Yada yada]” Teacher Amarah introduced the 10 new members who had just discovered the town recently and was willing to join and move in. “And now, we have one more announcement for our newest sacrificer after 10 years…” Amarah said. The whole town was listening. A sacrificer was very important in this town. They carried the burden of sacrificing a real living being for the sake of the spawn. Normally, it is only allowed for people to show their loyalty to the spawn by praying, chanting, going to church everyday, but never getting their hands bloody. Sacrificers are representing the village and is required to stain their hands to show the spawn how much the village would do anything to show how great the spawn truly is. One way of how the spawn can communicate to the village and show its appreciation would be gracing the sacrificer a second life, which made the village happy. However recently (like 100 years ago), sacrificers have been dying and have not been reborn, scaring some people in the town. “The new sacrificer is a good student of mine. I hope that they’ll be able to fix this tradition and earn the second life we’ve all been waiting for. May I call up the new sacrificer, Two Time, to the stage.” Everyone cheered. Two Time, who was sitting next to Azure, was beaming with pride and immediately walked up to the podium. As Amarah talked on and on about Two Time’s achievement and how big it is to both them and the town, Two Time spotted Azure waving frequently and gave a little wave back. When Amarah concluded their speech, everyone in the village began cheering and chanting. Two Time has never felt so alive. After the ceremony, Azure wrath quickly ran up to Two Time.
“Congratulations, Two Time! I knew you’d be the next sacrificer. Wanna play ball before the next bell rings?” Azure asked Two Time. Two Time nodded frantically and so the two both kicked the ball around.
“Hey, Azure…may I call you Azure?” Two Time nervously asked.
“Of course, saying Azure is much shorter than Azure wrath. And the wrath in my name makes me seem like a hot-tempered person.” Azure puffed.
“Hehe, yeah. Anyway, were you born in the village? I…I wasn’t.” Two Time tried to make conversation. They sucked at it.
“Hmm, nah. I was abandoned at the church, is what I heard. At least it brought us both to the spawn!” Azure smiled as they kicked the ball hard. Two Time was able to stop the ball and kick it back.
“...What’s your favorite candy?” Two Time asked.
“Spawn graced flavored candy.” Azure replied. Two Time cheered.
“We’re going to be great friends, Azure!” Two Time happily cried as they kicked the ball once again. Azure laughed and as the two talked, the bell had rung, calling everyone to go inside their cabins. The two kids glanced at each other.
“We meet tomorrow during church?” Azure asked Two Time.
“Yeah, then we can talk more!” Two Time grinned. As they waved each other goodbye and Two Time walked towards their cabin, they couldn’t help but wonder about the future.
They were the next sacrificer, and they had a friend now, what could go wrong?
