Chapter Text
Every day, at the dead of night—I woke up to that memory. “MEDIC!!!” yelled, repeatly. The gruesome truth about how their flesh—blood scattered on the snow—purity stained with the bloods of the young. They should've been something else, a politician, a tailor, hell—even a father. They're too young to be in this wrecked up war. “Oh, but I will be a hero to my home country!” said they, “Oh, but I will die with honor!” said they, as they slowly descend down into madness. Their poor little mind has been corrupted by the harsh truth of the war. No war is fun, how come you said it is? Some of us get dragged into this, it's not like I or them can have a choice. I got drafted into it, really unfortunate, right? If I could choose, I would have stayed back home. Stay to live my life to its fullest, stay to help my father, stay to be in a normal life and have a dream job of mine. But them? They chose to join the army—into the war. They're blinded by honor, by those lies of the commander. They followed those lies so easily, I pity them.
The sight of the body makes me freeze in place, another angel has fallen. I have failed to fulfill my duty as a light for those who need it the most. The sound of the continuous bomb being thrown on us—keeps going on and on. The impact makes the ground shake for a moment. Even so, I still couldn't bring myself to move, to check—maybe there's still hope. Move.. move, move.. move, Erik! Keep a hold of yourself, don't lose to them now. They still need you, they still need you. I eventually make my way to them. Oh, you poor.. poor child. I should've went sooner, maybe.. just maybe... If I went sooner, you would still be alive. Even if you're heavily injured, at least you would still be breathing—alive. Better than being dead. I'm sorry, forgive me for my sins, forgive me for I have not fulfilled my duty to its greatest state. Nonetheless, saying sorry won't change anything. They're gone. Dead. They felt cold.
Sleep well, dear. Your mission here has been finished. Rest easy, soldier.
