The sun slipped through the curtains waking Jade. She's never been a deep sleeper since she stopped living with her parents. Unlike her roommate, Ally, who could sleep through anything.
She rolled over to grab her phone off the bedside table, checking the time.
8:13am
She had around an hour till her classes started. After staring at the ceiling for for what felt like was to long she finally found the motivation to get up, wincing at the feeling of her shoulder popping back into place as she stretched. She swung her legs over the edge of the bed and walked over to her closet.
It was meant to be cold today so she put on a simple pair of dark blue jeans and a red 'n' blue striped sweater.
Grabbing her phone she left her room and headed to the kitchen to find something to eat. Going with a random breakfast bar she found in one of the cupboards and sat at the table scrolling on twitter.
Not long after she sat, she heard Ally leaving her room. She dragged her feet lazily round the corner and sat at the table with Jade. She had clearly just woken up, her hair was a mess and she could barely keep her eyes open as she rested her head in her hand.
After a moment of them both sitting there comfortable silence, Ally spoke, "Mornin'." Her voice was groggy and full of sleep.
"Morning, you're up early I thought you had no classes today?"
"Oh yeah, no I don't just wanted to see you before you left."
"Okay..?" To Jade this was a bit confusing as she's had classes on days Ally didn't and she has never gotten up early to 'see her before she left'.
They both went back to sitting in silence, Jade back on her phone and Ally trying to not fall back asleep.
"Ally," She only hummed in response, "groups making plans to go out for drinks later, you wanna join them?"
Ally shrugs, "I mean if your going I guess I will"
Jade got up grabbing her phone and bag, "Cool yeah I'll be up to go." She stood back up after slipping her shoes on and went to head out the door, "See you later Al."
She opened the door to Ally curled up on the couch on her phone, some random movie playing on the TV in the background.
She put her phone down and sat up to greet Jade, "Hey Jay."
"Hey." Jade kicked her shoes off and dropped her bag down. "Any plans made when I was gone?"
"Errr, everyone's planning to leave a 7, you cool with that"
"Yeah that's fine."
Jade slumped down beside her on the couch and Ally rolled over to put her head in Jade's lap. It was normal thing to them, they've always been physically affectionate and saw nothing of it.
Jade took the opportunity to play with her soft chestnut hair, curling a strand around her finger. "So what you gonna wear?" Jade asked.
"Mmm... probably a simple dress and a jacket I don't know, you?"
"Pair of jeans or something I can't be asked to dress up." Ally hummed in response, the hands running through her hair ,gently getting rid of the knots, made her slowly drift off. She tried hiding it from Jade but the way her head jumped every now and then gave it away.
Jade smirked at the way she was making Ally relax like this, "You can go to sleep Ally, we still have like 4 hours'ish or something till we have to get ready."
"Hm, I guess, but do you promise to wake me up?" Her words got quieter and more slurred as she struggled to say awake.
Jade laughed softly, "Of course you idiot"
Ally said nothing in response, just curling her legs against her chest and trying to imbed her head impossibly deeper into Jades lap like a cat of sorts. Jade felt her phone going off in her pocket, assuming it was the group she carefully reached behind her to pull it out her back pocket.

You: srsly that was it!?

You: well im just gonna wear a pair of jeans or something

You: she said she was wearing a dress and jacket

She hated that what Dani said made her face flush, the group always made jokes about the two of them and it was hell for Jade. Yeah she'd laugh and go along with them but what if she overstepped, what if she makes Ally uncomfortable and ruins years of friendship just over some stupid feelings. She knows Ally would never like her like that, everything they did was just what best friends did. Curling up on the couch, chest to back, while watching a film was normal and having Ally knowing she doesn't need to ask to fall asleep with her head on her lap and Jade massaging her scalp to get her to fall asleep was nothing. Jade knew her getting flushed over these silly little jokes was stupid and she needed to get over it.
She ran her hand down her face, groaning at how stupid she is for spiralling over such a small thing. Her other hand still rests tangled in Ally's hair, her thumb idlily rubbing circles at her temple. Ally's breaths were rhythmic and deep. Jade couldn't help but to just stare, everything she spiralling in her head fading away at the sight of Ally being so comfortable with her. Jade realised how tired she was and all she needed to do was just have a nap and she'll be fine. She set an alarm on her phone to go off in two hours, having one last glance at Ally she leaned her head back to rest on the cushions.
Ally surprisingly woke up before Jade got her up. She rolled over on her back, expecting to see Jade awake and on her phone or something. But to her surprise she wasn't, her was laid back, and there was a slow rise and fall to her chest. The hand buried in her hair was idle and the other one laid across Ally's stomach.
Ally adored how peaceful she looked, how her hair was splayed perfectly over the cushion. She could stay like this forever.
She didn't know how long it was till they had to get ready, nor could she be asked to find her phone to check. She rolled over once more so her head was tucked into Jade's stomach and held onto the hand that rested on her waist.
Ally loved times like this, times where it felt like it was just her and Jade and nothing else in the world mattered. She wishes more than anything she had the confidence to talk to Jade about her feelings for her. But if she has to live with them staying as just friends over risking their friendship.
Jade woke with the weight on her lap gone and the sound of the shower on in the background. She found it a bit upsetting not getting to wake Ally, but moved on from the feeling quickly.
"Oh your finally up!" Jade turned behind her to see Ally peaking her head round the doorway.
"How long have you been up for"
"Not that long, probably around half an hour I've not really been looking at the time." Ally walked over to the couch, sitting on the back of it, "I was just about to head into the shower, but you can go first if you wanna."
"Mmm, I'm good you can go first."
"Cool see you in sec then." With that she got up and headed towards the bathroom.
Jade listened to the sound of the door shutting and Ally putting her music on. She debated going on her phone for a bit, instead choosing to be productive and find what she was going to wear.
She wasn't much of a dress girl unlike Ally or Dani, which is surprising at the fact you would never not see her in a dress when she was younger.
Not taking as long as she thought she would, she settled with a pair black jeans and a sweatshirt with a white shirt underneath. She decided she had nothing better to do than sit on her phone and wait for Ally to finish in the shower.

Jade was just finishing up drying her hair when she notices Ally behind her in the mirror.
"Like the fit?" Ally gestured to herself. She was wearing a white mini dress and a brown leather jacket.
"It's simple but really cute." Jade turned around and leaned back on the sink to get a proper look at Ally. "You could add some jewelry?"
"Oo, good idea thanks Jay!" Ally left the bathroom with Jade behind her as they went back to there own rooms.
Jade put the clothes she had laid on her bed early on and left towards her vanity to find some jewellery for herself. She grabbed her bag and left towards Ally's room.
She knocked on her door, "You ready to leave Ally?"
Ally swung the door open, "Yep!"
"Oh wow I was right about the jewellery it really completed the fit."
"I know right, your actually the best for that I do not want a plain outfit."
Jade and her slipped their shoes on and headed out the door, leaving to meet the others.
