Work Text:
Joe looked around, and smiled as she saw Austin, her dark skin catching the sun, and her long woven braid sat over her shoulder, a ribbon that matched the one on Joe’s wrist keeping it neat. She was stood by Delilah, who nickered softly as she chomped some grass, her midnight black pelt dusted with desert sand.
The pair were positioned by a large tree, a rare sight this far West, but a welcome one. Joe liked trees, they reminded her of back home. She’d happily never see one again, if that was what Austin wanted.
“Jolyne!” Austin’s voice was warm, as she called across the desert.
Joe spun around, her ginger hair flying into her face, “Area’s all clear.”
“Then come here, silly,”
Joe giggled, and went over to her partner, underneath the branches of the outstretched tree.
