Chapter Text
30 September 1998
Raccoon City, Police Department
Leon Kennedy’s first night shift had been the most boring thing ever happened.
He kept sitting at his desk for almost all the shift. They reminded him he was just a rookie so he couldn’t expect more.
Leon was pissed.
Around 4:00 am the lieutenant Marvin Branagh asked Leon to go to ticket people around the gas station, near the city limit.
«For some reason they always go faster there» the lieutenant said. Leon was still pissed but at least he could go out.
No one was driving around the gas station. Leon was starting to snort but a red motorcycle was driving way faster than the speed limit. He flashed with his cruiser. The driver slowed down, Leon actually didn’t think he would have been so easy to stop someone who was driving like a madman.
Leon saw the biker coming closer and she was definitely a girl. When she removed her helmet he stared at her for more than a second. She was drop dead gorgeous. Leon babbled some words that didn’t make sense at all, the girl frowned and Leon thought maybe it would’ve been better if he didn’t left the R.P.D., he took a sight.
«You were going way faster than the speed limit» he managed to say.
«So?» she bended over the steer, resting on her palm.
«I need your driver license and the assurance.» Leon said firmly.
She grabbed the documents from the duffle bag and handed it to Leon.
Leon read rapidly the driver license.
Claire Redfield
02/04/1979
Redfield. It sounds familiar.
The license was valid and she wasn’t underage, he also checked the assurance and everything was fine.
«Okay, everything is good, you can take your documents» he gave them back when he opened his mouth she interrupted him.
«So officer Kennedy, can i go?» Leon almost jumped but then he remembered he had a label pinned on his shirt.
«Yes but I have to ticket you, you were driving too fast»
Claire came closer to Leon, he stepped back.
«Come on please, my brother is also cop!»
«No family discount» Leon replied, she grunted.
Leon scribbled on his notebook and handed her a ticket.
«Shit, Chris is going to kill me».
«I could also report you for cursing in front of a officer, but I won’t».
Claire Redfield murmured a “thank you” and went back to her motorcycle.
«Drive safe!» Leon shouted while she was wearing her helmet.
«Thanks, you too» she replied sarcastically while driving off and passing the city limit.
Leon smiled to her boldness and returned in his cruiser.
The rest of the shift had been quite peaceful. Leon thought of Claire Redfield.
That “Redfield” sounded familiar but he couldn’t remember, maybe he was just tired, but he was sure that for some reason he had to remember that last name.
At the end of the shift he drove back to the R.P.D., while he was leaving the car key in the main hall some of the members of the S.T.A.R.S. entered.
Albert Wesker was walking with Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield.
Chris Redfield.
Chris Redfield.
Leon thought of Claire saying «Chris is going to kill me». Leon froze while realising.
He had ticketed Chris Redfield’s sister.
Claire Redfield got ticketed by a rookie. How did she know he was a rookie? He was way too kind, he wasn’t sharp like her brother Chris. Claire also thought that the officer Kennedy was pretty hot. He had blond hair and blue eyes, he seemed a bit clumsy but not in a bad way.
When she returned to her brother’s apartment he was sleeping on the couch, Chris was holding a beer and the television was still on.
«Hey Chrissy» Claire nudged his leg with a feet. Chris woke up abruptly and looked at her still standing in front of him.
«Guess who’s back» he said still sleepy. Claire swooped on the seat next to him.
«Was everything good during the road?»
«Yeah, but i got ticketed at the gas station.» she wrinkled her nose. She knew what he was going to say. How fast were you going? Were you drunk?
«How fast were you going? Were you drunk?» he was clearly upset, but he managed to not scream.
«No, I wasn’t drunk. I was going a bit faster than the speed limit» Claire rested her cheek his brother shoulder and yawned. She was really tired, and still pissed for the fine.
«Who was the officer? Rooney?» Rooney was a guy who wandered around Claire every time she was at R.P.D.
«Luckily not, it was the first time I saw that guy»
«Do you know his name?»
«I read the label, but I don’t remember, maybe it was Kensington». She lied. She remembered his name. She remembered it clearly.
Kennedy.
She didn’t know why she lied to her brother, she didn’t like it.
«I’m going to sleep» she gave a peck to Chris.
«Gross» he commented, but a little smile cracked on his face. She went upstairs and entered in the room she settled as her bedroom.
Claire lied on her bed and dropped off.
She slept all the morning, when she woke up she found a sticky note on the fridge.
I LEFT YOU SOME MONEY FOR THE GROCERIES. DO NOT SPEND EVERYTHING
Chris
P.S. PAY THE FINE!!!!!!!
Claire smiled. Chris could be a bit bossy, but he cared so much about her.
Claire payed the fine, got something at the supermarket, and got back to her brother’s house.
She checked the emails on the computer, Chris bought it some months before but she used it to study when she was at his place.
A new email popped up, it was from Dave Bucky. She sighed. Her boyfriend, or better her ex-boyfriend. They broke up a month ago, and yesterday night he was knocking at her dorm in college. This was the reason she abruptly got off from her place, she literally escaped because she didn’t want too see that asshole. She drove in the middle of night to Raccoon City.
She opened his message.
Please Claire, don’t ignore me. I know i’m not perfect, but I miss you and I need you. Please sent me a message back.
She ignored his message. “I’m not perfect” No fucking way, he cheated on her and had the settle to cry. She never told Chris, he would beat his ass, and she didn’t care so much, she just felt disrespected.
Dave was her first boyfriend, they had been together for four months, she always had the feeling something was off, she should have cared more of her boyfriend, right? It wasn’t she didn’t enjoy their time together, it was she had never been jealous of any girl trying to approach him. She thought it was because she wasn’t unsure of herself, but in the moment she found out he cheated, the only thing she felt was anger because she had been humiliated. She would never let anyone else make her feel this way.
She closed the emails with a sigh. The only thing that mattered at the moment was the degree she was studying for.
