Work Text:
Class 2-A liked going places as a group. Now, they weren't all always together in one big mass, but it was very rare for there to be less than three of them anywhere, especially outside the school.
Today was no exception.
Despite the bad experience Deku had had last time they went on a class trip to a mall, they had decided it was worth a do-over. Once again, most of the class was there to buy everything they needed for summer training camp.
Deku had insisted he was fine, but Ochako and the rest of the class stuck around him anyway, just in case. The League might be gone, but they were not the only threat that existed.
They definitely weren't the only threat.
Class 2-A had been there for all of an hour when there was the sound of something breaking upstairs. Glass. To loud to be something small breaking inside a store. In the following shouting from upstairs, Ochako heard the word 'window' as well as the word 'villains.'
Immediately, everyone in the class straightened.
Without needing to be told, Ochako activated her quirk, taking both herself and the nearby Todoroki and Jirou into the air to see. As expected, there was a broken window in one front of one of the shops. Just inside the shop stood a man, grinning menacingly at the customers. He turned back to inside the store.
"If I can do that to the window without trying, imagine what I can do to you," Jirou said, repeating what the man must be saying. "Now hand over the money."
There was an explosive sound from behind and all three turned their heads. The front of another store had been blown up. Ochako had seen worse damage, but it would still be costly. A few people were on the ground, but Ochako couldn't see how many were moving.
Todoroki needed no prompting to propel himself forward toward the store. As soon as he was over the railing, Ochako canceled her quirk, dropping all three of them.
"Robbery," Jirou reported to the class once they reached the ground. "At least two people in two different stores."
"No cell service," Momo reported in return.
"I'll figure out why," Jirou said. "Kaminari."
He nodded and followed her away. As they were walking, there was a loud sound from further in the mall. A moment later, there was a forth sound.
"At least four people," Deku said. "Probably more."
They quickly divided in to groups before heading off to fight, ready to divide further as necessary. With Tsu and Kirishima, Ochako headed back upstairs to where Todoroki was fighting for triage. He'd gotten most of the civilians out of the store where the villain was, but not quite all of them. Kirishima took care of the last few.
After that, it was only a minute or two before Todoroki came back out. "He's frozen," Todoroki said. "I'll go help elsewhere."
"Good," Ochako said, checking a pulse. Present. Must just be unconscious.
Todoroki left.
Ochako didn't hear any more explosions (at least, none accompanied by Bakugou shouting) so she was pretty sure her classmates were dealing with their villains.
Once she'd confirmed that everyone was alive and likely to remain so, she stood up and looked around. Using Ochako's quirk, the group crossed over the railing to the store with the broken window, where Shinsou and Momo had taken care of the villain and were checking on the civilians around them. They were about to leave to check the rest of the mall when there was a loud commotion from downstairs.
Ochako leaned over the railing to see Deku on the heels of another villain, a couple other classmates behind him. Deku reached out with blackwhip and was about to make contact—
Then a second villain appeared between the two of them. His arm made contact with Deku's stomach. Deku was normally got at brushing off punches, but he fell to the ground instead.
Just as quick as he had hit, the villain backed up to stand next to his partner. Ochako and the rest of the group jumped over the railing to join.
Deku was clutching at his stomach with one hand and his costume seemed red around it.
Oh, God, no. Ochako ran forward as did her classmates.
Deku coughed and expressions of concern (verbal and facial) came from all around.
"It's just a little stab wound," Deku said, still on the ground. "I'm fine."
The class collectively called bullshit on that before turning back to the villain.
"You'll regret hurting him," Ochako said flatly.
Similar responses came from the rest of the students sans Momo, who had kneeled down to provide emergency care and was more focused on creating things.
"We'll fucking kill you," Bakugou said. Aww, Ochako knew he had a soft spot somewhere.
With that said, they all charged forward, making quick work of the villains. The fight was over in maybe ten minutes, at which point they were left with nothing to do but worry over Deku and wait for the police and ambulances.
And worry they did. They all surrounded him, talking non-stop, before Momo reminded them all of procedure and they all went to deal with the rest of the civilians.
Jirou and Kaminari had caught the villain interfering with communication a bit less than a minute before Deku's injury and gotten a civilian to call while they joined the chase, so the police showed up quickly, led, as usual when it came to matters involving 1-A, by Tsukauchi.
"Have I mentioned how scary your students are?" Tsukauchi asked that evening, having called as soon as work ended to complain.
"Yes," Aizawa said tiredly. "A dozen times."
"Good," Tsukauchi said. "We've been looking for that group for four months. Between all the different malls they've hit, they've gotten away with over two hundred million yen. Last hero who fought them is still in the hospital."
"They're very protective of each other," Aizawa said, which was an understatement, to say the least.
