Chapter Text
‘I can’t believe this is finally happening, the dream is becoming a reality!”
The thoughts of one man with a rather ambitious dream seemed to dominate his focus. This man, who seemed to be in his late 20s, was a tall fella with tan skin, dark colored eyes and dark brown hair that was styled with swept bangs. He wore an orange uniform and a long-sleeved white shirt tucked-in underneath. He is also dressed in a pair of black short pants, with white sneakers with brown socks.
This man was Trevor McGregor, one of two aspiring hosts for this new reality show project that they finally managed to get a green light to shoot! This was a long time in the making, but the struggles to get these producers to bite on their vision was well worth it and with the location of Camp Tipiskaw in Canada, now it was time to begin scouting for the right cast.
Soon, Disventure Camp would take the world by storm! Or, so they hoped anyway.
Trevor entered their own little studio for this, as he seemed to see another man sitting by what seemed to be some monitors on a desk with several envelopes on display; some already opened with some CD cases to the side, others yet to be revealed.
This man, who also seemed to be in his late 20s, was a moderately tall individual with pale skinned man with short black hair and dark olive green eyes. He wore an identical orange uniform with the same white t-shirt tucked underneath. He also wore a pair of long black pants and sneakers with brown socks. He seemed to pull a CD out of the drive and sighed to himself, setting it and the file by it aside.
“Another dud. I think this girl’s voice alone might cause ear bleeding to the…oh uh hey Trevie~” The man said as he shifted from his insult mid-sentence to his affectionate nickname for Trevor as the latter blinked before he frowned.
This was Derek Johnson, Trevor’s co-host and his best friend. And while the pair had shared this dream since their college days, how they went about it at times couldn’t be more different.
“Derek, I should remind you we do need a cast of 14 players for this. If you reject everyone for every little problem you see, we’ll never get to shooting.” Trevor said as he enjoyed Derek’s company, he really did but if Trevor was a bit too optimistic or even silly for his own good, Derek could be the more jaded opposite.
Derek rolled his eyes at this with a sigh. “Look, I get it but like come on man. We are trying to make a smash hit here, something that can really get the world wanting more and stick it to the McLane monopoly of reality TV. Something that could last for years and years, that ain’t gonna happen if we cast a bunch of dull flops out the gate.” Derek said in his defense of his more critical eye to these audition tapes.
“Believe me, I know, but this is all so…exciting! I just don’t want to waste this chance by getting a bit too nit picky with who we are looking for. Oliver went through a lot of trouble to make these files and collect these tapes from across the world, so we should try to see the potential in those, not just their faults okay?” Trevor asked, making mention of their experienced intern as Derek of course knew they did have to start considering casting some people but felt the pressure to not blow this.
“Alright, well, maybe this one will be a winner.” Derek said as the hosts glanced at the file of their next application.
Applicant-018
Name: Gabrysia “Gabby” Nowak
Label: The Explosive Girl
Age: 20
Gender Identity: Female
Nationality: Polish
Occupation: Unemployed
Sexuality: Lesbian
“Explosive huh? Well that has me excited already.” Derek said as he and Trevor were curious on that one alone, sliding in the CD as soon enough the video began to play of the audition itself.
They soon came face to face with a visual of this dark-skinned young woman with dark olive-green eyes and long, silky, curly brunette hair; a section of it tied with a red ribbon into a large bun. She wore what looked to be a tie dye red-colored t-shirt with visible lines and a heart pattern over the chest. She also wears some blue pants that had some small rips on the ends and by the knees. She seemed to complete her look with a pair of brown sandals and a beaded necklace colored like a Lesbian flag.
She was resting on a tree branch of all things, up high as she held a camera with one hand using it to film herself which was a bit crude but Trevor could sort of respect the unique POV admittedly. What did catch the pair’s attention was the rather excited gleam in this woman’s eyes and the wide smile she seemed to have as the personality seemed to radiate even without a word being spoken.
But she wouldn’t be silent for long.
“Hello! Oh this is just so exciting, I never auditioned for a reality show before! I hear they can be so exciting, all the drama, the challenges and this one is a camp so I knew I had to apply for this. I get a chance to be closer with nature! I wonder what kind of animals I’ll see and..!” the young woman spoke out, as she seemed to ramble a bit about the exciting possibilities perhaps only just now realizing she had yet to introduce herself.
“Sorry I uh tend to lose track of what I say, sorry just so excited for this opportunity. My name is Gabby! Born and raised in Złotoryja, the pride of the province of Silesian Voivodeship in Poland. I’ve never traveled much so this chance to go overseas and seeing the beauty of this Tipiskaw sounds like a dream!” Gabby said, as she seemed to at times rock her camera a bit in hand almost forgetting she was recording herself which Trevor seemed to worry over but Derek found quite amusing.
“I hope you’ll consider me for this show! My father has been wanting me to go out and socialize since I’ve been staying with them again, and I figure this could be a good chance to get a fresh experience and maybe make some friends! I don’t have many or well any of those admittedly…” Gabby said, her face frowning a moment before it snapped back to that excited smile of sorts. “...so I am hoping for this fresh chance to make some new ones. I also could use the money, I may have sort of hurt my ability to find a job given the recent protests, but I will always stand up for innocent animals being treated inhumanely!” Gabby cried out though as her expression shifted to a bit of a passionate fury, the camera flipped out of her hand as her eyes widened as she quickly leaned forward to catch it with both hands before it fell out as she dangled from the branch; her legs wrapped around it as she hung upside down as she seemed to look at the camera and gave a bit of an awkward chuckle.
“A-anyway, I hope you’ll consider me for your show! Bye bye!” Gabby said waving before the video ended as Trevor and Derek had a bit to mill over with this one.
“So, what do you think Derek?” Trevor asked a bit curious as his partner seemed to rest his chin on his hands facing the monitor before sitting up on his seat as he seemed to smile.
“I like her, she has this wild girl energy about her and seems like she’ll be a mess at camp, but make for excellent TV.” Derek said already having some visions in his eyes which Trevor seemed to chuckle at.
“While I don’t root for anyone to crash and burn, I do have to agree. Sure she might be a bit eccentric and that could be a concern but she is so…animated. She seems to have this vibrant personality to her and her love of nature could be perfect for the camp setting.” Trevor admitted a bit, and as the pair exchanged a look they seemed to reach a mutual decision.
“Alright then Gabby, welcome to the Purple Raccoons~” Trevor declared with his stamp of approval.
