Work Text:
It was the weekend in Pomfiore, which means the dorm is holding a tea party of sorts. Much to a certain lavender haired boy's dismay. Epel was dreading it since he didn't want to deal with Vil yelling at him for posture, his accent slipping, among other things. There was nothing else to-do but accept his fate. Dressing in the dorm uniform was frustrating, tying the Obi properly was tedious but doable by himself (thankfully) due to the amount of times Vil has made him do it and undo it.
Walking down the long hallways was always slightly creepy to him, the feeling of being watched never truly going away until he enters the tea room. He takes his seat near the center of the table, hoping Vil doesn't notice the slight shaking of his hands on the table.
The bright lights of the chandeliers were reflected off of the silver tiered treys, the gold trim on the tablecloth looking like it's shining even though it's just regular thread. Every trey was filled with little cakes, sandwiches, scones, and other things Epel couldn't name. Half of the foods he's never had before(probably because he's skipped these gatherings) so he was wondering what to eat.
"This is the Earl Grey, this is the Darjeeling, and this is the White Tea." Vil said pointing towards three different clear pots of the leaf water.
"There are other options for you too choose from if you so wish, this is just bear minimum for what should be provided however. We can now begin." With Vil's statements over he takes his seat at the head of the table and pours himself some of the Darjeeling.
Epel didn't really know the difference between teas so he just picked the one closest to him, which was the one Vil called Earl Grey. He was able to pour it without any issues(thank seven) and started on taking some treats for his plate.
Rook suddenly appears behind him, his hand was on Epel's shoulder.
"Monsieur Pommette, you may only take a small amount of the treats."
He's annoyed by the the rule. Wouldn't it make more sense if Ah could just take what Ah want now instead of later. He thinks, but doesn't say out loud because he knows better.
The rest of the event goes rather well, Epel makes a few mistakes but less then his usual(Rook and Vil staring at him like he would die after one more mistake was excellent motivation). When it's over he takes Ruggie's advice and tries sneaking some of the treats into a container in his bag.
By whatever miracle he wasn't caught so he just sneaked his way back to his room. That feeling of being watched still following him all the way back, he was thankful there was nothing else to do till dinner, but that was in the cafeteria which meant he could hang out in his room for a little bit.
His roommates were out doing sevens knows what, but that meant he had a little bit of time to try catching up on some the missed episodes of his show. After changing into just the school dress pants and white button up he lays on his bed and pulls out his laptop from underneath the bed. The snacks in the now open container laying next to the screen.
One of the first things he grabs from it was a small, round, red cookie looking thing. It had a jam filling, based on the scent it was apple flavored. Before he could take a bite he heard the door lock click. Hurrying to get rid of the evidence he through the lid on the container and slid it under his bed. When the door opened he was able to greet his roommate with a smile and a wave.
"Welcome back. I thought you were with the other two doing some shopping."
"We were, but James forgot his wallet and I had to go back and get for him." Annoyance laces the reply.
It takes less then ten seconds for the roommate to get the wallet and leave. Relief at not getting caught floods through Epel's body, now that he knows they won't be coming back for a while.
He leans back over the edge of his bed too reach for the container only too realize he slid it to far to be able to reach from this position. Begrudgingly he gets on floor and reaches for it, fingers brushing against the item. Once he finally is able to get a grip on the lip of the lid he slides it towards himself.
Climbing onto the bed again he opens back the tab for his show and goes for his second try of the apple flavored confection.
"Oh mah seven!" The treat was sweet but not in an overpowering way, the apple jam was almost as good his family's.
Everything about the little round snack was perfect. At some point he stopped paying attention to his show and started organizing the stolen sweets. He counted how many he had of each and calculated how long this would last until the next tea party. By the time he finished the first episode was finished and he had to start it from the beginning.
After dinner in the cafeteria was over he changed into his pajamas and "went to bed"(read: faked being asleep until his roommates went to bed). When everyone fell asleep he pulled out the laptop and treats and began on the rest of his show and was watching with the blanket over his head as a makeshift tent so as to not disturb the sleeping people with light of the device.
He reached for another one of the macarons(he learned the name during dinner), not taking his eyes from the screen. Patting the almost empty container for a few seconds before finally looking away from the device.
"Shit!" The whisper shout was one of sadness.
The lack of the sweets left in general was a surprise but the lack of macarons was shocking and disappointing. Next time Ah'll steal more, might buy some more too. The plans were already swirling in his head.
"Monsieur Pommette, you know it's bad to stay up this late."
"AHhhhh! What the actual fucking seven!" He pulled the blanket off his head, this time he was not whispering, half the dorm probably heard him but the fact that Rook Hunt was standing at the foot of his bed with an open window not far away, was the most terrifying thing one could actually experience.
