To Y/N:
By the time you’re reading this, I’ve already left UA. I’m sure you know what that entails. The reason all of this is happening is because Shigaraki is trying to steal One For All. I can’t bear the thought of getting you everyone caught up in my mess. It’s my battle to fight after all, and I don’t want to drag you guys along with me.
I’m sorry, Y/N. I haven’t forgotten what you told me. I know you’re strong enough to handle yourself and that you won’t be a liability to me, but this isn’t about whether you can handle yourself. I simply want you to stay in a safe and comfortable environment. So please, don’t come after me.
Trust me, I know what I’m getting myself into, and I know exactly what I’m doing.
I love you.
Izu
Y/N didn’t know whether it was rainwater or tears that blurred their vision as they leapt through the air, the oxygen solidifying beneath their feet. Izuku’s muddy green cloak billowed out behind him, covering his face along with any trace of emotion that Y/N was trying to track.
What the actual hell is his problem? This is exactly what they had been trying to prevent.
Trust me, I know what I’m getting myself into, and I know exactly what I’m doing.
Then why the hell did he look so drained of life? Like death itself had tolled him over? Hell, he barely even looked human anymore.
Y/N stretched out a hand, disturbing the air and creating a gust of wind so strong that it would’ve knocked them off their feet if not for their air shield. Below her, the rest of 1A were calling out to him desperately, using their quirks to slow him down.
Deku stumbled backwards through the air, crashing into Y/N as they held him tightly.
“Let me go.. Y/N..”
Y/N grumbled.
“Well, aren’t you romantic today?”
“I can’t.. Stay here..”
Deku struggled out of their grasp, attempting to speed into the distance—but not before Y/N blocked him with an air wall.
“You’re a lot sloppier when you’re tired, Izu. You should know better than anyone that you can’t outspeed my quirk.”
God, what did he eat that made him so stubborn? All they wanted was for him to see how much they cared.
He held so, so much on his shoulders, more than anyone else they knew. And despite that, they knew that he would certainly try to hold more if he could. He was so stubborn that he couldn't even see how drained he was.
“I'm fine.”
Y/N glared at him.
Fine where? His whole body was drained of life. He looked like he'd forgotten how to smile. He held so much pain in his heart that it could shatter him to pieces.
They leapt toward him, restraining him with makeshift vines and hurriedly pulling him towards the ground before he could escape. They gestured at Bakugo, who walked over and held tightly onto Deku’s restraints.
The rest of the class looked at him with both care and concern, noticing the extent of his weariness. His clothes were basically covered in mud, and he looked like he hadn't slept properly in days.
“Deku—” Bakugo started. But Deku interrupted him, his eyes focusing only on one person.
“Y/N…”
The person in question scoffed. They almost wanted to scream. The boy they loved was standing in front of them with such a drained look, they wondered if it was even possible to be so physically and mentally drained. It made their chest tighten in ways they couldn't explain.
“Izuku.”
They acknowledged his words, but they couldn't say a thing. So instead, they hugged him.
They ran up to him and hugged him tightly, vaporising his restraints in the process. He smelled of dirt and grime and probably week old clothes, but they didn't care. All that mattered was that he was safe in their arms.
The rest of the class was tuned out to them, and the only person who existed in this moment was him.
And when they felt his arms wrap tightly around them, they knew that he felt the same.
“I'm sorry.” He started.
“I'm so sorry.”
Y/N shushed him, patting his head the way they always did to calm him down.
“I have so many things to say to you, but none of that matters right now.”
They untangled herself from his arms, looking at him with pure, unadulterated care.
“Welcome back, Izu.”
