Ed Mercer - Bisexual. The Orville subreddit tried to beat my ass for saying it, but he's bisexual. He just is. He has dated and shagged a few men in his life. Definitely shagged Gordon at least once at Union Point, even if they didn't quite get together-together after. Like maybe it was a one time thing, and one that they don't talk about, but there's still mutual lingering feelings from both before and after it.
Gordon Malloy - Bisexual. Has a huge crush on Ed, to be specific, been pining for him for years. Too afraid to get with him officially since he's a giant ball of nervous butterflies to date anyone that's not a simulation (love you Gordon), especially since Ed is his best friend. And especially since they began serving on the Orville together. He's enough of a man of duty to know Captain and helmsman may not be the best idea, but God, he wishes they could be together.
Kelly Grayson - Straight. Mostly straight. But has dated at least one woman in her life, prior to her dating and marrying Ed.
Claire Finn - Robosexual. Finds every computer on the ship she can find and fucks it- no I'm joking. Asexual. But fell for Isaac, android man was just too much of a giant sweetheart not to.
Claire Finn - Asexual
Isaac - Asexual. He can't feel attraction for the most part. But Claire was an exception, made him feel love and affection, in his own robot way.
John LaMarr - Straight. He just gives off heavy straight man vibes, if that makes sense.
Alara - Bisexual. Really I only say bisexual because she's canonically dated men, but she also gives the vibe of liking women to me. So bisexual. Especially if, maybe, she got so sick of insecure men and their insecurities about her strength, she turned to women more than ever. And had a great time.
Talla - Pansexual. I say girl likes it all. Get it, queen.
Bortus - Gay, obv.
Admiral Ozawa - Lesbian. I, I'm not quite sure how to explain it. But she just gives lesbian to me. Like, strict, tough, iron shelled lesbian. Like the kind of woman who would go into and do well in Marine Corp Boot Camp.
Admiral Thomas Halsey - Gay. He's gay. I just gotta say it. I imagined him as being gay, actually BEFORE I found out Victor Garber was gay. And now that I know that, oh Thomas is 100% gay. Like gay, and oddly, I also imagine him as divorced but he doesn't talk about it, don't ask me why. Also, may or may not have had a thing with Kelly's dad at some point. It didn't work out long term, but they were still besties afterward.
Admiral Howland - Hard to Say, But I'll Go With Lesbian. Granted, it's hard to say. We don't see much of her outside of Tale of Two Topas. I believe the only thing we really know about her, is that she canonically has kids, as Claire asks her if she does. She doesn't give me, as heavy lesbian vibes as Ozawa. And def not the same kind of lesbian as Ozawa. Like a much more gentle, loving cuddly woman, I think, outside of her duties. But I imagine if she has a spouse, said spouse is a woman. So, I'll put down lesbian for the sake of having an answer here, but again, it's hard for me to say which such little material.
(If you're wondering who I'm talking about, it's the Admiral who handled Topa's case in season 3, SPOILERS, and told Ed and Kelly, no you can't turn Topa back to a girl. And then when they did it anyway, or at least let Isaac do it, Howland is the one who went off on them and then at the end was like send her my best wishes, LOL.)
Admiral Tucker - Asexual. Maybe even repulsed, too. I don't know, he just doesn't look like he'd be much into dating, anything romantic. He's a fly solo kind of dude. Which I can respect.
Admiral Thomas Perry - Graysexual/Straight. Unrelated I was today years old when I found out his first name was Thomas - chat, we have two Thomas's in the Admiralty. It's just like, eh. Like, straight, but also not that prone to being attracted to anybody. Dedicated to his work, doesn't really date or get strong male urges. So, I would say, Graysexual, for the most part doesn't feel a lot of strong attraction. But when he does, it's to women.
President Alcuzan - Bisexual but Abstinent. Yes, I'm including a category for this character. I love his character in spite of how little we see of him, and why is story I'll tell some other time. Like Perry, Graysexual. He's the f*cking president, everyones below him. He goes out dating, that person is in a massive power dynamic relationship. And he understands that, how immoral it would be for them. So I headcanon him as like romantically and sexually abstinent. But if he weren't the president, bisexual with a preference for men. And unrelated, I also think he has childhood trauma.
(If you're wondering who I'm talking about, Spoilers again, he's the blue dude with the 3 sectioned black hair that gets kidnapped along with Halsey, Ed, and Charley in Gently Falling Rain and gets stabbed in the gut by Teleya. And the guy who offers the provisional seat on the Union Council to the Kaylon. Played by Bruce Boxleitner (I SPELT THAT RIGHT ON THE FIRST F*CKING TRY), who plays Alan in Tron, does the audiobook for The Orville: Sympathy for the Devil).
Teleya - Lesbian, the only man she ever loved was Ed, which was an exception.
