It’s a new school year and Euijoo is super excited! He’s always been the studious, intelligent, academic weapon of his grade. Everyone is 100% certain he’ll be valedictorian with that GPA of his.
He spends all of his free time studying so he has a maximum of 4 friends. His friends are Shigeta Harua, Takayama Taki, Asakura Jo, and Murata Fuma.
Taki and Euijoo walk into the school together, eager to just go to their new classroom and greet their new teacher. “Who else do you think is in our class ?” “I don’t know, but I know Harua is in our class too!” “Sweet! This year is gonna be so academically perfect !!”
15 minutes later, the school bell rings and school officially starts. “Hello class! I am Ms. Kan, your homeroom teacher.” Euijoo is fully attentive, his whole undivided attention fully towards Ms. Kan, until the classroom door opens quickly and loudly, causing everyone’s head to turn to look at an unfamiliar face.
”Oh! You must be the new student!” He nods. “Alright class, we have a new student who just moved here.” “Hello I’m Wang Yixiang, but I go by Nicholas.” *Bows* “Wang…isn’t that a Chinese or Taiwanese type of surname ?” Harua whispered. “Yeah.” Taki says. Euijoo ponders. (“Why does that name sound so familiar ? I feel like I have heard that name before and he looks familiar too for some reason? Strange..”)
“Nicholas, you can take the empty seat beside Euijoo. Euijoo raise your hand.” He raises his hand and Nicholas walks over and sits down.
Nicholas puts his feet up on his desk and closes his eyes. Euijoo is busy taking notes when he glances to his left and sees the new kid sleeping. (“IS HE INSANE?? WHY IS HE SLEEPING ON THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL ALREADY??” “Pzz.” “Pzz.” “PZZ!” Still no response so he had no choice but to tap Nicholas’s shoulder.
“Wake up.” Euijoo whispered as he smacked Nicholas’s feet off the desk. Nicholas opens his eyes to see a conventionally attractive guy. He doesn’t respond, just does what he’s told to. (“Woah he has such sharp eyes holy. Wait, stop! You need to get back to studying!”)
Euijoo is gay, but it’s his biggest secret he swears he’s taking to the grave with. His parents are very strict and conservative so if they ever found out, he would be practically disowned. His friends always have had suspicions about him being queer, but Euijoo would always just say he was joking when in reality, he wasn’t. Nicholas was also secretly gay.
At lunch, gossip was all Eujioo’s friend group was talking about. “Wait so there’s a new guy in your class?” Jo asks, confused. “Yes! And he looks like he would so be Euijoo’s type…” “Hahaha! Absolutely!” “No!” Euijoo quickly said, face now flushed red. “I mean…he is pretty…” “Euijoo, are you sure you are self proclaimed straight ?” Fuma looks serious. “Alright I guess it’s finally time for me to tell you guys my sexuality. I am in fact not straight.” “Fork found in kitchen." “Taki!!” “Sorry, it was very blaring obvious bro.” “True…”
“Anyways, we are so happy for you Euijoo!” “Yes, thank you for being comfortable enough to share.” “We love you for you.” “Aww thank you guys.” Harua's eyes grow wide and Euijoo notices. “Is everything okay Haru?” “Behind you-” It was too late.
“Hey, can I sit with you guys? I haven’t made any friends yet.” Euijoo looks up and gets lost in Nicholas’s eyes, mesmerized how someone could look that beautiful. Fuma glances at Euijoo and bursts out laughing accidentally. Euijoo snaps his head at Fuma and mouths “Stop it!” “Uhm of course you can! Make yourself at home! You can even take the open seat next to Euijoo.”
As everyone talks, Euijoo carefully listens while observing. He listens to everything Nicholas says, looks how his face moves when he talks, his reactions to things, and his body language. “I was born in New Taipei City in Taiwan, but then my family moved to Goyang in South Korea when I was very young.” At that moment, Euijoo froze.
“Wait, you moved to Goyang?!?” “Yes?” “Did you go to Hyunsan Elementary?” “Yes. How did you know tha-” “OH MY GOSH YIXIANG?! It’s me Byun Euijoo!!” Nicholas malfunctions, but then it all clicked. “EUIJOO!? IS THAT REALLY YOU??” “Yes it’s me Yixiang!” They hugged each other.
Being in Nicholas’s arms felt warm and safe. “Okay so can someone fill us in, we are very confused.” “Right, so Nico and I were childhood friends when we lived in Goyang. Then, he moved away when we were in Grade 2 and we forgot about each other until just now.” “Genuinely, how did you forget such an uncommon name?” Euijoo flustered, stutters. “I-uh I don’t know honestly because you meant the world to me.”
Nicholas’s heart skips a beat, he feels the butterflies in his stomach. Taki squeals and claps his hands. “AWW Y’ALL ARE SO CUTE!!” Euijoo strikes a fierce look at Taki. “Both of your faces are red by the way.” “Nicholas, I know we just met, but do you think Euijoo is, I don't know, conventionally attractive?” Fuma teases. Euijoo puts his face into his palms, embarrassed. (“OH MY GOSH I AM ABOUT TO BE COMPLETELY HUMILIATED!!!”)
He glances at Euijoo, sees him visibly embarrassed so he quickly responds with “Yeah, he’s pretty cute.” Nicholas grins when he sees Euijoo take his face out of palms instantly and looks shocked. “Wait really!?” “Yeah.” “Are you also queer?” “Mhm, you?” “Yes…” “Welp Euijoo we just found your future boyfriend on the first day WOOHOO!!” “SHUSH!”
For the next 3 weeks, Nicholas and Euijoo become inseparable once again, just like how they were when they were kids. Nicholas even brought back Euijoo’s nickname “Juju.” Nicholas isn’t the brightest when it comes to school so Euijoo has been tutoring him and they have been going to Euijoo’s house everyday after school.
“Hello Mr. and Mrs. Byun.” *bows* “Good to see you again for the 100th time this month.” Nicholas chuckles. “I am just really glad I got to reunite with my great old friend Euijoo.” “You’re such a sweet young man. We missed you too because you always kept our son laughing as a child.”
“Anyways, we are gonna head upstairs now to study.” “Alright, happy studying.” Nicholas comes in and is surprised to see Euijoo’s room looking slightly different. “Woah you vamped up your bedroom?” “Yup, it was messy and I…I wanted to make it better for you…” The old short dresser got replaced with a shiny new tall dresser, the junky old grey bed sheets got replaced with Ponyo themed bed sheets, and his small crowded desk got replaced with a pretty white desk with shelves on top. There was also some new stuff like a carpet, affirmation posters on the wall, and a lamp at his desk.” “Do you like it?” “Of course, it's so clean and pretty Juju.”
“Now it’s study time, Nichol.” “Yeah, yeah.” Today’s atmosphere felt different, Nicholas wasn’t focused and had a lot on his mind. (“He really did this for me? He really is something…Also I left at 7 so I am surprised they finished building a whole desk and dresser.”) “And that’s how you solve this type of problem. Nicholas? Nico? NICHOLAS!” “Wait what!” Nicholas snaps out of it. “Did you really not listen to that whole long explanation I just told you?” “Oh uh sorry Juju…”
“Is there something on your mind?” “No, I’m fine.” He says coldly which slightly breaks Euijoo’s heart. “You know you can tell me anything right? I’m right here if you need to get anything off your mind, Yixiang.” “Alright…Did you really do all of this for me?” “That’s half true, I did it for myself because my room has looked like this for half a decade and I also did it for you because when you started coming over, I realized how my room looked very dark and depressing.” “But hey, at least when my room did look like that, you brightened up my room regardless.” “Aww you're so cute!!” “Stop it Nico!” Euijoo whined.
“Your parents must be so proud when they see you.” “What do you mean?” “They created beauty and brains.” “You’re funny haha.” “It’s true! Juju you are the most beautiful guy I have ever seen.” Euijoo blushes immediately and his heart feels like it is leaving his body. “The same goes for you too.”
Euijoo was looking way too good right now for Nicholas’s comfort. “Uhm can I ask you something?” “Sure, anything.” “Can I kiss you?” “What!” “You are irresistible right now Euijoo.” Euijoo looks into Nicholas’s eyes and he folds. “Okay, yes you can.”
Nicholas cups Euijoo’s jaw and kisses him. It was slow, but then turned intense. Euijoo tilts his head sideways to deepen the kiss. Nicholas had his hand on the nape of Euijoo’s neck. Euijoo was sucking the air out of Nicholas like no tomorrow. “Fuck, Euijoo.” Nicholas mumbled.
Euijoo got out of his seat and sat in Nicholas’s lap. Their tongues slid under the others. Nicholas then wraps Euijoo’s legs around him and throws him against the wall.
Their kiss was passionate and hungry. Euijoo wanted more and more each time. He had been waiting for this moment for so long.
Soon Nicholas and Euijoo become boyfriends and when Euijoo’s comes out to his parents, they surprisingly don’t care and support their son no matter what. When Nicholas told his parents, they also weren’t surprised and honestly were suspecting it for quite a while now.
They were both very happy to be both best friends and boyfriends !
