Chapter Text

I think I’m going to kill this guy.

Of course Blackrock’s favorite nepo-baby just so happened to spill coffee on the laptop with my presentation I’m presenting in 4 hours FOR THE TEN MINUTES I WAS ON MY LUNCH BREAK. Subspace’s eye twitched in frustration. I can't let Medkit outdo me, the great Subspace T. Mine! If he’s going to play dirty then why shouldn’t I? He deliberated for a moment before an idea finally struck.

“Fitting.” He chuckled to himself.

So instead of making a presentation, the great Subspace T. Mine proceeded to spend the next two hours building something to get payback on that four-eyed freak. It was an unnecessarily complicated marble machine that wrapped around the entire width of the lab. Its only function, pour coffee on the next inphernal who opens that door.

Subspace crouched behind the counter and waited; waited for longer than he probably should have. After an excruciating period of time, the door swung open. He jumped up from behind the counter to rub his victory in Medkit’s face. Subspace’s glee slowly faded into horror when he realized the inphernal standing in front of him was, in fact, not Medkit. Instead, the drenched inphernal standing before him was Telewarp, his longtime friend, if you could even call her that.

“What.” Warp said more as a statement than a question.

“WARP?! WHAT COULD YOU POSSIBLY BE DOING HERE?” Subspace gritted with forced enthusiasm.

“Subspace. Why.”

“WHY WHAT? OH THAT??? I HAVE NO IDEA WHERE THAT CAME FROM! SILLY ME! HAHAHAHA! BUT LET’S NOT LET THE HIGHER UPS KNOW ABOUT THIS YEAH?”

“Sub-”

“WHY DON’T YOU GO BACK TO YOUR ROOM AND CLEAN UP?” Subspace frantically ushered her out the door. Well, looks like I have to reset the ENTIRE contraption because one KLUTZ decided to barge in. I just have to hope Medkit doesn’t come back soon.

Sighing, he began the painstaking process of resetting every gear and lever. After a tedious and finger numbing process, the only thing left was to add the cherry on top, a scorching cup of coffee.

Medkit was not excited to go back to the lab he shared with Subspace, in fact he had been avoiding it all afternoon. He had accidentally dumped boiling coffee on Subspace's laptop, and he hadn’t gotten a chance to clean it up. Subspace was definitely going to ruin his week if he didn’t make it up to him, if not worse. So he hoped optimistically that if he allowed Subspace to present his project with him, he could at least partially negate his wrath. But the conference was arriving fast, and if he didn’t talk to Subspace now he wouldn’t get a chance to before he had to present. So, reluctantly, he made his way back to the lab.

While stiltedly strolling in the direction towards his lab, he was delighted to see his good friend and colleague Warp walking his direction for the other end of the hall. Walking or storming? That can't be right. Warp is the calmest inphernal i know! What could have possibly mad her so mad?  Maybe he really did need to update his glasses prescription.

As she approached he realized that, no, he did not need to get his eyes checked. Warp was mad, like REALLY mad. She stormed passed him dripping of contempt.

"Aren't you just a ray of sunshine?" He called teasingly.

Warp shot back with a venomous glare and continued trudging down the hallway. Weird.

After a few more minutes he reached the lab. Medkit took a deep breath and tentatively pushed open the door. He only caught a quick glance of Subspace attempting to balance a cup of steaming coffee on the doors mantle before he toppled over like a collapsing Jenga tower.

Subspace plummeted with unceremonious crack. The coffee he'd been holding followed shortly, not only soaking himself and Medkit, but also managing to hit Subspace in the back of the head. Pain surged from where his face had collided with the floor

"Ughh..." Subspace heaved groggily.

"Are you ok??" Medkit said whilst scrambling to his feet. All Subspace could do was make a pained groan in response.

Medkit braced his hands under Subspaces arms and picked him up from his dejected position on the floor, setting him against the wall. Blood streamed down from Subspaces nose getting all over his carefully maintained uniform.

"Phuck. Looks like you broke your nose." Medkit muttered and crouched down to his level. Subspace did not like the genuine note of concern in his voice.

"Thanks for pointing out the obvious." He spat back.

"Here let me heal it." Medkit said, reaching for his nose.

"No!" Subspace hissed, whirling his face away. "I don't need help from the likes of you." He wriggled desperately to attempt to escape Medkits grip.

"Can you stop being a brat!" Medkit snarled. "Stop moving and let me fix it!"

After a few minutes of being unable to push Medkit off, he finally conceded and let him heal it. Medkit gingerly realigned his nose to the correct position and began to use his crystals to heal Subspace. The pain slowly dissipated. What a showoff. Eventually it was practically good as new. Once Medkit had deemed the healing up to his standards, he pushed himself back onto his feet and looked around at the machine spidering across the lab.

"Subspace... what is this." Medkit asked, exasperated.

"What does it look like?" Subspace retorted. "I made it in order to dump coffee on you as payback for my ruined laptop." After a moment he added, "Look how that went."

Medkit just blinked at him in confusion.

"What!" Subspace barked. "Why are you making that face at me!"

To his dismay, Medkit's face shifted from confusion to something close to amusement.

"You do realize you could have just... put the mug on the doorframe?"

Subspaces face flushed crimson. "I-I-Well-" He stuttered.

Medkit just laughed and reached out his hand to help Subspace up. "Let's go get cleaned up. Then after we can both present my project." After a second he teased, "Don't worry, the Higher Ups don't need to know."
