Smoke and winter

Summary:

Yuji thought he had the perfect life: a loving Alpha, a beautiful pup, and a warm home. But when Satoru starts drifting away toward Suguru and his daughters, Yuji is left picking up the pieces of his breaking heart and his son’s sadness.

At the park, Sora finds an unlikely friend in quiet little Uraume. And Yuji finds himself drawn to Uraume and his intimidating, crimson-eyed father, an Alpha who looks at him like he actually sees him.

Sometimes the family you need isn’t the one you started with.

Work Text:

Yuji was happy. He had a loving, attractive husband, a sweet and gentle son, a stable life, a spacious and welcoming home. He didn’t have a single thing to worry about. So, he was supposed to be happy, right?

It hadn’t always been like this. There was a time when Yuji had been truly happy; maybe during the first few years of their marriage, or the early days after his precious baby was born. But that wasn’t the case anymore, and he hated living with the weight of that knowledge.

“Mom…?” His little boy’s soft, sleepy voice pulled him out of his trance. Yuji set the cup of cold coffee down on the kitchen counter and turned to see his son. The small, slender figure was rubbing his tired eyes, a yawn slipping from his lips.

“Sora, sweetheart, what are you doing up, baby?” Yuji said, doing his best to hide the tremble in his voice as he walked over to his six-year-old.

“Dad’s not back yet?” Yuji’s heart clenched so tightly he feared it might vanish. Even though he was so young, Sora was incredibly perceptive, and that hurt Yuji deeply, because it meant his little boy couldn’t innocently look the other way like most children. Instead, he understood abandonment and pain far too early.

“H-he’ll be home soon, I’m sure. He must just be really busy. But that doesn’t matter, right now you need to get back to bed, young man.” Yuji smiled, but the smile never reached his eyes. He scooped his son into his arms and carried him back to his room.

“Can I sleep with you tonight?” The boy looked up at him with those blue eyes, the same ones he shared with the man who had once been his greatest love and his greatest weakness.

“Of course, sweetheart.” Yuji whispered, pressing a kiss to the boy’s forehead before changing course toward his own bedroom. The room had almost lost the warm touch of his husband.

There, in bed, with his little boy curled up against his side and fast asleep, Yuji let his mind drift back, remembering when everything had started to fall apart.

His Satoru had once been an attentive and loving man, always tuned in to whatever he or their pup might need. But things began to change when Geto Suguru, Satoru's best friend from years ago, with whom he had lost contact, returned with two little girls in his care. Suguru had asked Satoru for help raising them. Yuji had never been against it.

He had felt genuinely happy, even more in love with Satoru, when his Alpha stepped up to support his Omega friend and the two little girls. During the few times they all got together, Yuji had been warm and welcoming. He baked cookies and delicious meals for them, introduced his son to the girls, and hoped they could become friends.

But then the family visits grew fewer. Satoru started spending more and more time at the house he had bought for Suguru and the girls, under the excuse of “helping out.” Yuji wouldn’t have minded, if it weren’t for the nights Satoru didn’t come home at all. And when he did, he carried the scent of rain, blueberries, and jasmine all over him.

Then came the excuses. Every time he was supposed to spend time with Sora, something came up “I have to pick up the girls from school,” “Maybe next time, the girls have a recital,” “Suguru needs my help today, later, okay?” And more. Yuji was exhausted and hurt. He knew his little boy was too.

Only he knew how many nights he had comforted his baby, wiping tears from those little eyes until they were red and swollen, until Sora finally cried himself to sleep from exhaustion.

Yuji was done. He was pulled from his thoughts when he heard the front door open. He carefully adjusted Sora so he wouldn’t wake up and slipped out of the room. In the living room, he found his husband taking off his shoes. Yuji’s nose wrinkled in distaste at the foreign pheromones rolling off him.

“Satoru.” His voice cut through the quiet night. The tall man turned and looked at him.

“Yuji? What are you still doing up?” he asked, as if he had simply come back from overtime and not from another Omega’s house.

“What am I doing up? Ha. I’m sitting here like an idiot waiting for you. What’s wrong with you? Sora barely even sees you anymore. I barely see you. It’s always ‘Suguru this, the girls that.’ Have you forgotten we’re your family too?” The Alpha’s expression soured, a grimace pulling at his lips.

“Not this again, Yuji. We’ve already talked about this,” he said irritably, pinching the bridge of his nose.

Yuji said nothing. He still couldn’t believe this was the same man he had once fallen in love with, the one who had once sworn loyalty to him. His smooth, unmarked mating gland ached worse than ever.

“...Fine. I hope you don’t regret this, Gojo.” he spat coldly, turning on his heel and heading back to the bedroom where his little boy slept peacefully. Satoru stayed rooted in place. Even during their arguments, Yuji had never used his last name, let alone in that tone.

He let out a heavy, tired sigh when he heard the door close and the lock click. That meant he’d be sleeping on the couch tonight. At least he had made sure to buy a comfortable one.

“Come in.” Yuji opened the door to the office and stepped inside. A grimace crossed his face. He was grateful he had put on a scent blocker that morning; otherwise his bitter scent would have already filled the room.

It was supposed to be Gojo’s day off. The day he was meant to spend playing and bonding with Sora, and instead he was using it to work. “What do you need, Yuji?”

Yuji did his best to swallow the growl threatening to rise in his throat. He took a deep breath and approached the desk with papers in hand.

“Sora has school field trips and events that need your signature. He asked for it himself.” Satoru didn’t even look up. “And also the div—”

A cheerful children’s ringtone cut Yuji off.

“Yeah? Sugu? What’s up? Oh! Princesses! Yes, yes, it’s my day off, don’t worry~” Yuji’s frown deepened.

“Are you going to sign or not? And the divorce papers too.” Yuji’s voice was drowned out by Gojo’s on the phone. The Alpha took the papers and signed them without even glancing at what they said.

“Of course! I’m on my way, my girls!” A smile Yuji hadn’t seen in a long time spread across Gojo’s lips, all for another Omega and his daughters.

Angry, Yuji turned and left the room.

“See you soon~” Gojo hung up. “Sorry, Yuu. Now, what did you nee-.” Gojo found the room empty and an uncomfortable feeling settled in his chest.

Yuji was exhausted. He had given Satoru so many chances, countless chances, to fix their relationship. And when he grew tired of that, he had given him chances to fix his relationship with Sora. His little boy who desperately needed love and attention from his Alpha father.

And he had failed. Time and time again.

Sora’s school art exhibition that Gojo had promised to attend? He had to watch the girls.

The trip to the park Sora loved so much? He got held up at work.

The movie night Sora had been planning for days? Suguru wasn’t feeling well.

And so many other excuses just like that.

At this point, if those girls started calling Satoru ‹Dad› Yuji wouldn’t even be surprised.

“He’s not coming, is he?” Sora asked, listlessly stirring his cereal. By now it was probably soggy and disgusting, and Yuji knew his baby hated it that way.

“I don’t think so, sweetheart.” Yuji stopped lying to his son. He stopped covering for Satoru. He was tired, and so was his little boy. He took the bowl of cereal and threw it away. “We can go to your favorite park together and get ice cream. How does that sound?”

Sora’s face brightened a little, a small smile forming on his lips. “Yes, Mommy, please.” Yuji’s heart melted with tenderness. “Then go put on your shoes, baby.” Sora hopped down from the chair, and Yuji heard his quick little bare feet pattering against the tiles as he ran.

They went to the park. It was a beautiful, spacious, well-kept place with all kinds of playground equipment for the children and shaded benches for the parents. Yuji watched with quiet joy as his son laughed and played with the other kids. These small moments, when his pup was happy and forgot about his father’s absence, made Yuji incredibly happy, even as they filled him with a deep, aching sadness.

“Mom! I made a new friend!” Sora ran over, beaming, holding hands with a boy who looked even smaller than him.

“Oh? Is that so?” The little pup’s name was Uraume, according to Sora. Uraume had beautiful snow-white hair that reminded Yuji of winter, cut neatly just below his ears in a rounded style with straight bangs that softened his otherwise indifferent features. His eyes had a faint violet hue, like wilted flowers trapped under ice, and his pale skin perfectly complemented those traits. He was a very beautiful, charming little boy. Yuji guessed he must be albino.

He offered the small boy a soft, warm smile while Uraume was still holding his son’s hand. “I’m Yuji, Sora’s mom. It’s nice to meet you, Uraume-kun. Thank you for being friends with my pup.” Uraume’s eyes widened, then softened, his porcelain cheeks flushing a delicate pink.

“The pleasure is mine, Yuji-san” the boy replied in a soft yet steady voice, executing a perfect little bow. Yuji was surprised by the boy’s impeccable manners, and Sora couldn’t have looked happier.

“See? I told you! My mom is the sweetest and most beautiful in the world. I knew you’d like him.” Yuji didn’t quite understand, but the two little boys seemed to understand each other perfectly despite having just met.

“Uraume.”

The voice cut through the air like restrained thunder, deep, heavy, so weighty that Yuji felt it vibrate in his chest before he even looked up. It wasn’t loud. It didn’t need to be. There was something in that dry, firm, dangerously calm tone that demanded attention.

Then the scent hit him.

Thick and warm.

Like smoke, charred wood, and dark spices mixed with something metallic. A wild, masculine scent that wasn’t trying to be pleasant and yet was overwhelmingly captivating. Yuji had learned to recognize Alpha scents years ago, but this man’s was completely different from Satoru’s, which he had grown so used to.

Gojo smelled like bright winter. Like cold sky after rain, sugar, clean wind, and that impossible freshness that used to calm him, though lately it was tainted with rain, blueberries, and jasmine.

This man didn’t.

He smelled like danger.

Like stifling heat. Like something ancient and dominant that made Yuji’s instincts tighten for a split second, as if his body recognized another predator before his mind could catch up.

Yuji finally turned his head and understood why the pups had gone still.

The man was enormous.

Taller even than Satoru.

Yuji had never seen an Alpha taller or more striking than his own. Gojo was like a brilliant storm. An impossible presence to ignore because he filled everything with light, noise, and playful arrogance. This man, on the other hand, was elegant darkness. Heavy and suffocating. Like staring at the shadow of a beast right before it strikes.

The dark suit hugged a broad, solid body beneath the fabric, disheveled in a strangely refined way. It was a deep wine-colored two-piece suit; the jacket was open, revealing a black button-up shirt underneath. The shirt was undone enough to show part of his chest and the beginning of dark lines that climbed across his skin like ancient markings.

And yet... he was absurdly attractive.

Not in the flawless, almost unreal way Satoru was. His attractiveness was dangerous. Cruel. The kind of man who make your instincts scream «stay away» while your eyes begged to keep looking.

His reddish-pink hair stood up messily in a way that somehow suited him perfectly, and the black blindfold covering one eye only made the visible one stand out more, sharp, heavy, with an intensity that made you feel pierced even from a distance.

Yuji swallowed almost unconsciously.

There was something animalistic about him.

Something that reminded Yuji that, although Satoru was the strongest Alpha he knew... this man was too. Only he felt less human. More like a perfectly dressed beast.

“Father,” the snow-haired boy replied, pulling Yuji out of his stupor. This man was the father of this adorable little snowball?

“I told you not to wander off.” Yuji wanted to shrink into himself. He felt like a small child next to this massive man. Then, as if his thoughts had been heard, the man turned toward him, and that single visible scarlet eye fixed on him.

“O-oh! Um, nice to meet you, sir. I’m Yuji, Sora’s mom, Uraume’s new friend’s parent.” The man stared at him intently, as if looking straight through his soul.

“Ryomen Sukuna. The pleasure's mine, Omega.” The Alpha didn't smile, didn't react, he just simply stared at him, that make Yuji shiver. But the attention didn’t last long; the man turned back to the two pups who were chatting, seemingly oblivious to the strange atmosphere between the adults.

The Alpha watched attentively as the pups kept their hands joined and Uraume easily carried on a conversation, a small smile on his lips. Yuji caught a faint flicker of surprise in his gaze, though it was barely noticeable.

“What elementary school does your pup attend?” The question caught Yuji off guard, nearly making him jump. Still, he answered. “..Private Jujutsu Elementary Academy.” The Alpha gave a slight nod.

“Good. Uraume, say goodbye. We have to go.” The pup seemed to wilt at the words, his little hand squeezing Sora’s tighter. Sora, unlike Uraume, didn’t stay quiet.

“Why does Ume have to leave already? Can’t he stay a little longer?! Pleeease!” Both Yuji and Sukuna were equally surprised, though it showed more on Yuji’s face. Sora seemed to be speaking for both of them.

“Sora, sweetheart..” Yuji began, only to be cut off by a nasal chuckle followed by Sukuna’s voice. “Pff— brat. Uraume will be going to the same school as you. You’ll see him every day.” This brought pure joy to Sora’s face and surprise to Uraume’s. “But if we don’t leave now, that won’t happen.” Both pups looked alarmed, so after a quick goodbye, their hands separated and Uraume walked over to his father.

“Goodbye, Sora. Goodbye, Yuji-san.” Uraume waved his little hand while the other held his father’s large one. “Later, brat. Omega.” The Alpha’s farewell was rougher, but not hostile or dismissive.

Sora waved enthusiastically from Yuji’s arms, who smiled softly.

“You made a new friend, my love. Are you happy?” Sora’s eyes seemed to hold entire galaxies. “I’m so happy, Mommy! Uraume is amazing and really smart, and his dad is amazing too, and really, really big, and and—” Yuji let out a loud laugh, one he hadn’t released often lately, his cheeks turning a noticeable pink. Sora went very still.

“Sweetheart? What’s wrong?” Yuji asked after catching his breath. “It’s just.. you look happy, Mommy.” Yuji wanted to cry. It meant his son noticed when he was hurting. He hugged his little boy tightly and closed his eyes, as if trying to etch the moment into his memory forever. After all, coming to the park had been a good idea.

“Time to head home, pup.”

“Yes, Mommy!”

The days flew by, and park visits became part of their routine faster than Yuji had expected. Sora, who used to constantly ask about his father, now asked about Uraume. He’d get all excited and cling to Yuji’s sleeve the moment it was time to go to the park, knowing he’d see his friend.

Sometimes when they arrived, Uraume was already there waiting for Sora, with Sukuna beside him. The massive Alpha sat on a bench under the shade of a tree while little Uraume read quietly next to him, until his eyes lifted and met Sora’s. Then the pink-haired boy would run toward him like an overexcited puppy and drag Uraume off to some corner of the park.

Yuji and Sukuna never really interacted. For them, it was enough to sit on a bench and watch the two pups play. They barely exchanged words unless absolutely necessary. It was entertaining to see the contrast between the children’s personalities and yet how well they got along.

Yuji began to love their park outings. He loved the overflowing happiness on Sora’s face when it was time to go see his friend. He loved preparing snacks for when the boys burned through their energy and needed a break. He loved Uraume for unknowingly giving his little boy his happiness back. He even loved the silence, the quiet company, and the warm feeling of sitting beside Sukuna in complete silence.

“Mom! Come, comeee!” Sora squealed with a grin, grabbing one of Yuji’s hands while he was still seated on the bench next to Sukuna. Yuji laughed, and then Uraume came over too, taking his other hand and tugging gently.

“Alright, I’m coming!” Yuji let out a soft chuckle and stood up, following the two boys.

Sukuna watched in silence, his visible eye fixed on the image of that Omega playing with the two pups. Uraume had never wanted to interact with other children, let alone other adults, he would hide behind him. This was new, seeing Uraume so comfortable with other people besides him.

Sukuna couldn’t help but wonder internally what kind of idiot Alpha would neglect an Omega like that. An Omega like him. So sweet and attentive that he worried about a pup who wasn’t even his. Sukuna could see what Yuji thought he was hiding so well, the sad look in his eyes when watching the two pups play. The sad, sour edge to his pheromones that he believed were completely neutralized. The smooth, unmarked mating gland with no trace of a bite.

He could easily pass for a single Omega with a child from some fling, but the ring on his finger made it clear to Sukuna that he was married.

But he never asked. It wasn’t his problem. What mattered was that Uraume was learning to interact and socialize better with others. And so far, it was working. For him, that was enough.

Soon it became clear that despite their completely opposite personalities, the boys adored each other.

Uraume, who barely spoke or interacted with other children, would wait quietly for Sora before doing anything. Sora, in turn, seemed to instinctively understand when the smaller boy felt overwhelmed or tired.

Once, Yuji saw Sora interrupt his own excited rambling just to take Uraume’s hand and ask softly, “Too loud?”

The white-haired boy stared at him with those violet eyes before giving a small nod.

Without another word, Sora carefully pulled him away from the noisy children and led him to a quieter part of the park, under the shade of a cherry blossom tree.

Yuji’s chest ached fiercely at the sight; he nearly felt tears sting his eyes.

Sukuna had long noticed Uraume’s behavior around Sora and Yuji. The fact that his pup, who only seemed to socialize with him, could feel so comfortable with that Omega and his son genuinely intrigued him. What was different about them?

The Alpha sat down beside Yuji on the bench, one leg crossed over the other, his piercing crimson eye following the boys.

“He usually doesn’t like other kids,” Sukuna said suddenly.

Yuji blinked, nearly jumping off the bench, then glanced at him sideways.

“Uraume?”

A low hum. “At best, he tolerates them.” Despite the harshness of the words, Yuji sensed something strangely tender hidden beneath them.

“He likes Sora tho” Yuji replied softly.

Sukuna’s gaze lingered on the boys a moment longer before shifting to him. “...Clearly.”

Yuji still wasn’t used to Ryomen Sukuna looking at him.

Everything about the Alpha was overwhelmingly intense. Not just physically, though that alone was enough to make most people nervous, but his presence. Sukuna occupied space effortlessly. Calm and silent. Like someone who had never doubted the world would part to let him through.

And yet, with Uraume, he was unexpectedly attentive. Small, subtle things.

The first time Yuji noticed, Uraume had tripped while running after Sora. Before Yuji could even stand from the bench, Sukuna was already there.

Not in a panic. Not overly affectionate. Just calm and attentive.

A large hand steadied Uraume with ease and skill while the other brushed dirt off his coat.

“You’re fine,” Sukuna murmured calmly as Uraume blinked up at him. The boy nodded softly. Then, after a brief pause, “Watch where you’re going.” Uraume nodded more vigorously and whispered a soft “Yes, sir” before running back to play with Sora.

Maybe Yuji had stared a little too long. Because it painfully reminded him of someone. Or perhaps.. of what Satoru used to be.

The school year started soon, and his boy was incredibly excited. Sora had been practically vibrating with excitement all morning while Yuji tried to fix his uniform and tame his messy pink hair that was so much like his own.

“You need to stay still, baby,” Yuji whispered, almost letting out a chuckle.

“I am still!” the pup replied in the most serious voice he could manage.

“No, you’re not. I’ve already fixed your shirt three times.” The little boy pouted playfully.

“I’m excited, Mommy! I’ll see Uraume every day!” he burst out, trying his best to stay still. “Will we be in the same class? Will he sit next to me? And what if, and what if—” Yuji sighed fondly.

“Calm down, sweetheart. I’m sure you’ll be together.”

Moments like these with his little boy had become easier. not perfect, but easier.

Sora no longer cried at night waiting for a certain presence like he used to. Now he smiled more. He laughed more. And that made everything worth it.

The atmosphere at the elementary section of Private Jujutsu Academy was lively. Many little ones were running around, luxurious cars were pulling up to drop off children, and important-looking people were having casual yet formal conversations.

Yuji held Sora’s hand as the boy bounced with excitement the whole way.

“Ume!” Sora’s little voice rang out before he let go of Yuji’s hand and ran toward his friend, who was getting out of his father’s luxurious car. Yuji smiled at Sukuna and received a slight nod in return.

“Good morning, Ryomen-san, Uraume-kun” Yuji greeted warmly.

“Good morning, Yuji-san.” Uraume performed the little bow Yuji had grown used to.

“Omega.” Yuji gave a small start; he still wasn’t used to the title.

“Oh, right.” Yuji held out a bento wrapped in a white cloth decorated with snowflakes to Uraume. “Look, sweetheart, Sora told me you’re a bit picky with food, so I wanted to make a super special snack for you.” Yuji crouched down to the boys’ level and handed each of them their respective bentos. Sora’s was wrapped in a pastel yellow cloth with little dessert decorations.

Sora looked like he might burst with happiness. Uraume looked surprised, cheeks flushed. Sukuna, for his part, couldn’t stop staring intently at the Omega and the bento in his pup’s small hands. Yuji simply felt happy to show a little bit of his affection and gratitude.

“Thank you, Mommy!” Sora launched himself at his mother for a hug, encouraging Uraume to do the same. The boy hugged Yuji for the first time, though more shyly. “Thank you, Yuji-san..” Uraume murmured in a soft little voice. Yuji felt moved and pulled both boys into his arms.

Sukuna simply watched everything attentively in silence.

“Wait up, girls, not so fast!” Yuji and Sora froze in place at the familiar voice. Sukuna even frowned.

Yuji awkwardly released the two boys and stood up quickly, unconsciously moving closer to Sukuna, though not close enough for it to mean anything. Sora took Uraume’s hand and squeezed it gently. The perceptive boy, much like his father, seemed to sense something was wrong and quietly exchanged glances with the red-haired Alpha.

Yuji watched as Satoru crouched in front of two girls with a carefree smile, gently adjusting Nanako’s hairpin while Suguru laughed beside him. The sight hurt far less than it used to. The realization hurt even more. Because there had been a time when seeing Satoru care for another family would have shattered him. Now Yuji only felt a distant exhaustion.

Sukuna noticed, of course. The Alpha noticed too much. His gaze shifted back and forth between the white-haired Alpha and the black-haired Omega, the pieces clicking together in his mind like a puzzle.

“You look tired,” Sukuna said in a low voice he knew only Yuji would hear over the noise.

Yuji blinked, startled by the sudden comment. “...Do I?”

“Yes.”

Blunt.

Direct.

Strangely indifferent to politeness.

Yuji laughed softly, though there wasn’t much humor in it. “That obvious?”

Sukuna watched him for a long moment. “You hide it well from the kids.”

The words hit him deeper than expected. Because Yuji tried. Every single day. For Sora. Always for Sora.

“..Thank you,” Yuji murmured before he could stop himself, Although he didn't really know what he was thankful for. Something indecipherable flickered briefly across Sukuna’s face.

Then Satoru approached.

“Oh… what an unexpected surprise.” Satoru finally seemed to notice them. Behind him came Suguru with the two girls, Mimiko and Nanako. They quickly approached Sora; the boy looked conflicted but treated them politely and even introduced Uraume without letting go of his hand.

Gojo looked genuinely surprised, his eyes shifting between Sora among the pups, who had not run excitedly towards him. and Yuji standing stiffly and uncomfortably. Then his gaze landed on Sukuna. The air grew tense and oppressive, cold recognition between two Alphas who seemed ready to mark their territory.

Gojo.” Sukuna spat. His expression had lost all calm or indifference and was now creased in a frown. Gojo’s smile widened, but it wasn’t any friendlier; his brow was equally furrowed.

Ryomen.” The white-haired Alpha released the name like venom. “Didn’t expect to see you here.”

“Likewise.”

The tension was palpable in the air. Yuji was sure others around them could feel it. He should have imagined Gojo would show up with Geto’s daughters. He should have left immediately. Suguru looked alert but less hostile.

Yuji blinked, glancing between the two Alphas. “You know each other?”

Gojo let out a laugh devoid of humor. “Unfortunately.”

Yuji noticed Sukuna’s eyebrow twitch slightly. “Gojo’s company enjoys sticking their nose into projects that don’t belong to them.”

“Funny.” Satoru replied enthusiastically. “I was about to say the same thing.”

Yuji wanted the ground to swallow him whole.

“Mom! Everyone’s going inside now.” Just like that, the hostile atmosphere between the Alphas seemed to vanish. Sukuna and Yuji turned almost simultaneously toward Sora and Uraume, who looked excited to go in.

Sukuna sighed and ruffled both boys’ hair. “I have to go now. Goodbye, Uraume. Brat.” Then he turned to Yuji. “Goodbye, Omega.” And he walked away, completely ignoring Satoru.

Yuji smiled softly as he said goodbye. “See you later, Ryomen-san.” The pink-haired Omega turned to the children and kissed both on the forehead. “Have a good day, little ones. I’ll pick you up later.”

And just like that, Yuji turned around, gave a quick polite nod to Gojo and Geto, and walked away, leaving the two remaining adults confused and unsettled.

Yuji’s day, aside from that awkward morning encounter at school, was pleasant enough. He spent the whole day thinking about Sora, about the papers and documents he kept in a folder in his drawer that no one else touched. About what that decision would mean for his life and Sora’s.

Though his mind was a whirlwind, he cleared it by doing what he usually did. Cleaning, organizing and cooking. They were domestic tasks, but they made him feel warm and comfortable. He had never been a very instinct-driven Omega. Even his first nest had been a disaster compared to others, but sometimes he could let himself go.

Once everything was spotless and in its place, he started preparing dinner. He made Sora’s favorite meal and, almost unconsciously, prepared a portion for Uraume too. He didn’t understand why the pup had been occupying so much of his mind lately. Maybe because he had always wanted a big family?

Yuji had wanted more children. Satoru knew that. But the Alpha only wanted one, so after Sora, whenever they had sex, Satoru never forgot the condom. Until eventually sex or any kind of intimacy between them simply stopped happening.

Yuji let out a bitter laugh. Was this what his seven-year marriage and nine-year relationship had become?

When the food was ready, Yuji checked the clock. It was almost time to pick up Sora.

Sora and Uraume stood side by side, both waiting for their respective parents. They didn’t have to wait long before Yuji appeared, approaching them with a warm smile.

“Mommy!” Sora shouted before launching himself into his mother’s arms. Uraume would have watched calmly from his spot if Sora hadn’t dragged him along, so both pups ended up in Yuji’s arms.

“Hi, sweethearts. How was your first day of school?” he asked. Sora’s eyes sparkled with excitement while Uraume offered a small smile.

“It was amazing, Mommy! There were so many other kids, and everyone introduced themselves. I helped Ume introduce himself. We did some activities and the teacher gave Ume two star stickers for being so smart! I got one! And during lunch everyone started asking about our lunch because it looked so pretty, and—” Yuji laughed and kissed his precious boy’s forehead.

“Slow down, love.” Sora let out an embarrassed giggle. Then Yuji looked at Uraume. “And you, Uraume-kun? Anything to share?” Uraume seemed to think carefully before answering.

“It was a pleasant afternoon. I enjoyed the time I spent here, and I had fun with Sora.” Yuji was always surprised by the boy’s vocabulary, he spoke like a little adult. But he was happy for him, so he kissed his forehead too, making the pup cheeks flush.

“Omega.” Yuji gave a little jump and looked back to see Sukuna standing there. Yuji wondered when the Alpha had arrived, since he didn't hear him.

As Yuji stood up from his kneeling position on the ground, he gave Sukuna a gentle smile. “Ryomen-san, good afternoon.” Yuji then looked back at Uraume and Sora, who didn’t want to separate.

“Sora, love, Uraume has to go home now.”

“No! Ume’s coming home with me. We have homework to do!” Yuji sighed in amusement and turned to Sukuna after seeing the hopeful looks on the boys’ faces.

“Alright, let’s go,” Sukuna said, turning and heading back to his car. Yuji and the pups smiled and hurried after him into the Alpha’s car.

Notes:

I'm experiencing a bit of writer's block right now, so if anyone has any ideas on how I can continue the story, I'd be happy to hear suggestions.

Yes, Gojo is a jerk in this story (I love him, but someone had to play that role)

I don't know if this will have many chapters, as I don't like to drag things out, but I also don't want to rush Sukuna and Yuji's development.
