Work Text:
A eleven year old newly named green ninja Lloyd was scrolling on Kai's Instagram profile after stealing his phone and found a confusing add. It was for something that looked like a parade with rainbow colours and certain colours mixed and mingled. There were images of people kissing too, but they were behind other big rainbow stuff. The image was for some type of event happening next week and was tagged LGBTQ+ which Lloyd did remember was a insult or slur at his old school.
Lloyd saw Kai entering and he logged out of Instagram. "Hey green bean can I have my phone back?" Kai asks him and Lloyd gave it back, but asked. "Kai can I ask a question?" Kai raises a interested eyebrow. "Yeah sure," he answers sitting next to Lloyd since he seemed nervous about the question. "Why are people against others for no reason?" It seemed to be a good place to start. He didn't want to go straight into his question since he didn't want Kai to get mad at him. He remembers one classmate who asked about LGBTQ+ and was locked in detention for a entire day. He already caused Kai enough grief by just being the green ninja and didn't want to cause anymore.
His honouree big brother took a moment to think about that. "Well there are lots of reasons, but in my opinion it's someone's ego and pride," Kai answers and Lloyd looks at him because in the picture pride was in big letters and the people in the picture seemed happy, but he had seen villains who were happy to have him locked in a cage.
"Some people can be jerks because they have big egos and their pride gets in the way of admitting that they're jerks. Sure it's okay to have a little pride now and then, but if you have too much pride than your no better than the people you say are jerks and are wrong," Kai explains to Lloyd. "It's because of pride humans can be mean and even hateful, so you need to be Hubble and see things from their perspective," He finishes explaining. "Sooooo? Prides a bad thing?" Lloyd asks. "Yeah it's one of the seven deadly sins. It's okay to have some pride, but don't let your pride get in the way. Too much pride can be dangerous and trust me I know that feeling of being too prideful I could be a jerk sometimes," Kai chuckles at his own joke.
He looks back at the small blonde who looked lost in thought. "You okay Lloyd?" He asks and Lloyd nodded. "Yeah thanks Kai," Lloyd chirps before leaving confused.
So pride is bad? But the people in the photo seemed pretty happy because they seemed free, but Kai just explained how pride was something evil and bad, so what's he supposed to think?
Next day
Lloyd decided to go ask Cole about this pride thing, who was cleaning up after his own training. "Hey Cole?" Lloyd asks and the earth ninja looked at him as he finished up. "Yeah green bean?" Lloyd pauses, thinking before he asks. "Is pride a bad thing?" He asks innocently. Cole thinks for a moment. "Well, it depends, but in my personal opinion, pride is something you should be proud of and should never hide. If someone's a jerk to you about it, then who cares, you're happy, aren't you?" Cole answered, and Lloyd was even more confused now.
Kai said pride was bad, but Cole said it was good. Each had very good reasons for their views, but Lloyd was not sure about this answer.
"That's all, green bean, or do you want to ask anything else?" Cole asks. "Umm well I saw this parade that's meant to happen in a couple of days. Can I go?" Lloyd asks. "Oh, you mean the LGBTQ+ pride parade? I was going to go anyway, so I'm sure I can get you out of training to come with," Cole winks with mischief, and Lloyd can't help giggling. "Thanks, Cole," Lloyd hugs him before he hears Uncle Wu calling for him.
"Better go see what he wants, we can talk about this later," Cole said, and Lloyd nodded, going ahead and leaving. But he still had some questions, and Cole thought he already knew everything about this LGBTQ+ stuff, yet he still knew nothing about it. He was the green ninja, though he could not look dumb about stuff that seemed to be obvious. Who else should he ask?
Jay
The next day the green ninja was having his half hour of down time with Jay when he decided to casually bring it up. "So Jay why are there so many rainbow flags? And why would people hate them?" Lloyd asks. Jay does not even look up from his comic book. "Think every colour on the flag is meant to represent sexuality, gender, or something like that," Lloyd tips his head to the side confused.
There were only two genders right? And the word sexuality sounded familiar, but he could not put a name to the meaning. "Sexuality?" Lloyd asks. "Yeah like if you aren't 'normal'" Jay finishes.
Lloyd wanted to ask more, but then Jay, being Jay, kept talking.
"I honestly hate the rainbow flag because it's so old fashioned. Like I get what it's for and all, but it doesn't really feel inclusive to me, but they still use it! It represents gay very nice and all, but that's way I don't like it. They should just take it down and put up the better flag in my opinion," Jay said and Lloyd assumes he means the Ninjago national flag.
He didn't clarify, though, because now he had another question. Gay? He remembered the boys at Darkly's, and teachers called other boys that name as an insult. "So the flags are bad?" Lloyd asks. "Well, I just mean it's old, and there are so many other sexualities that I just don't think are properly represented on it, and that it's way overused. I don't feel represented with that one," Jay said.
There was that word. Sexuality, and when he said normal, he sounded sarcastic, but he talked about the rainbows as a bad thing? He was getting really mixed signals about all of this.
He was about to ask more, but then Jay noticed the time and got up. "Oh, it's late, time to go to bed, little man," Jay said and got Lloyd to bed. The small green ninja still didn't completely understand this, but he decided he would ask more later.
Nya
Lloyd goes over to Nya in the auto shop the next day after his morning training and she smiles at him as he approached. "Hey Lloyd could you pass the screwdriver?" Nya asks and Lloyd did so before she buried herself in the sonic radars engine.
"Hey Nya what's sexuality?" Lloyd asks. Nya pauses for a moment thinking. "Well it's a form of defining yourself. How you perceive certain things about yourself, and how you identify them. It's not a bad thing, but it's tricky sometimes," Nya explains. "Tricky?" Lloyd questions.
"Well yeah. It's not easy identifying your sexuality, and it's always hard coming out of the closet. For some, it's harder and for others easier, but it's always tricky. It depends on their specific situation," Nya explains as she appears back from the depths of the engine. "Is gay one of those sexualities?" He asks. "Yeah, it was one of the first," Nya answers. "First?" Lloyd asks questioningly.
"Oh yeah, there are lots of others. Well, I shouldn't say first. More like it was the first coined term, I guess? Like so many, because you think you're one sexuality, but then there's another that's really similar that you aren't sure about which one you are. Like Kai for example, he's been blabbering to me lately about how he isn't sure if he's bisexual or pansexual. For him, it's a big deal, and he wants to figure it out before the parade tomorrow, but there's really no rush to figure it out; he's just being Kai, which means he's being an idiot. You could figure it out young, or figure it out when you're old, and there's no rush to it. Cole learnt he was gay when he was fifteen, but I read about this lady who figured out she was Lez in her sixties," Nya told the little boy.
Nya made more sense than the others, but he was confused when she said her brother didn't know if he was bisexual or pansexual. What did those words mean, and what did they have to do with Kai? And what did it mean when saying Cole was gay? What did Lez mean? He was about to ask more when the back of the sonic radar suddenly exploded, making Lloyd and Nya jump.
The samurai groans in annoyance. "Hey, Lloyd, could you just go ask Zane if you have questions about this stuff anymore? I would love to keep explaining this, but I don't want something to blow up in your face," Nya said, and Lloyd's eyes lit up.
Zane! Of course, he was super smart, and he could answer his questions because he's a nindroid!
"Thanks, Nya!"
Lloyd said walking off with a grin.
Zane
After dinner he found Zane in the kitchen making sugar cookies, but Lloyd pouts seeing they were only just going into the oven, so he could not steal any.
"Hey Zane your smart, what does gay and pride mean?" Lloyd decided to ask the two questions he had the most about since they were the topics he was the most unsure about and build on that. The ice nindroid took off his oven mitts before answering him.
"Well, gay means happy or joyful while pride means a feeling of deep pleasure or satisfaction derived from one's own achievements. You never want to be too prideful," Zane said. Lloyd frowns because so far he's been told they are both very good things. "But what about the sexual stuff?" He asks innocently. That word seemed to be the basis of all his questions in some way or another. Plus it was the main word in bisexual and pansexual so it's got to be the main meaning behind everything.
Zane pauses though and he glitches nervously looking at the innocent and curious boy's face. "I uh? Pardon Lloyd?" Zane asks for him to repeat. "What about the sexual stuff and all that? I think that's the answer to all my questions. Could you please explain it to me in detail because no one else is giving me any straight answers," Lloyd pouts a little at the end.
Zane becomes a bright blue and stutters glitching. "I-I umm, ask Wu!" Zane quickly said than books it out of the kitchen. "Hey! I wasn't done I have questions!" Lloyd chases after the white ninja who got to his room. "Sorry Lloyd I need to charge myself now," Zane closes the door to his room and locked it. Lloyd kicks it.
"Awww, you don't need to charge," Lloyd complains like the child he is, but Zane does not respond on the other side so Lloyd stomps off to the living room.
Wu
After arriving in the living room and pouting on the couch Lloyd finally let's out his frustration out loud.
"Ugh! This would be easier if someone let me have a phone," Lloyd pouts, but at that moment Wu walks by. "Hey uncle Wu what's sex?" Lloyd asks his uncle innocently shortening the word since he had trouble properly saying the last part. Wu pauses in his tea drinking and turns to Lloyd worriedly.
"Where did you hear that?" His uncle asks concerned. "Well I was on Kai's phone and saw people kissing and," Lloyd began when Wu scowls. "You are too young for that and it is not important to your training. Besides it is your bed time," Wu points Lloyd to his bed room and Lloyd groans in annoyance walking off while Wu took off towards Kai's room.
"Kai Ash Smith! I am removing your phone privilege's!" Uncle Wu yells for the entire household to hear. Kai was literally on his phone texting when Wu came in and snatched his phone from him. "Hey! What did I do!?" Kai complains trying to get his phone back. "You know what you did," Wu scowls at him before leaving with his phone and Kai in utter confusion.
"Jeez drink the last bag of white tea and he gets so grumpy," Kai said pouting.
Day of the parade
Lloyd got dressed in his causal clothing and waited outside Cole's door. He got impatient though and started knocking loudly until Cole opened it. Lloyd had too take a moment of taking the earth ninja in.
Instead of black colors he was dressed in every color of the rainbow. His shoes were previously Kai's red sneakers that fit him, his jeans were a royal blue, his belt was orange and yellow that he seemed to have painted himself, his shirt was covered in splattered paint of millions of colors, and he dyed his hair a rainbow color too.
"Just wait another second green bean still got to put the tattoos on my face," Cole said than thought of something. "I got some extra if you want," Lloyd liked the idea of getting a temporary tattoo so he nodded excitedly and Cole smiles amused by him and let him into his room and connecting bathroom.
On the counter top there were a bunch of flag shaped temporary tattoos and some were shaped in hearts.
"Yeah have your pick. I accidentally ordered too many so I got plenty to spare," Cole said. Lloyd looks at them all and the wide array of patterns and hearts. "I don't know what they all mean, though," Lloyd said, assuming the colours meant something.
"Well, this one means you're bi," Cole said, pointing to one of them as an example. "Actually, that's pan," They both looked behind them and saw Kai, who had temporary cheek tattoos and a tank top with summer shorts. On his left cheek were yellow, blue, and hot pink, while on the right cheek were blue, darker blue, and a darker shade of pink.
"Still unsure?" Cole comments. "Yeah, I just know my interests, but not entirely sure on which one, so I thought to just do both," Kai shrugs and then looks at one of the temporary tattoos.
"What about this one green bean?" Kai picked one up that had a rainbow on it, but at the end it had a triangle with light pink, light blue, and white before some brown and black stripes.
"Oh, right, the new pride flag that would be perfect for you, green bean," Cole said, smiling. "But isn't pride bad? Kai, you said so yourself that pride was bad, and so did Zane," Lloyd said. Kai looks confused before he remembers their conversation the other day. "Oh that. This is different. I was talking about how if you have too much pride you can get cocky and overzealous. This type of pride is just another term for LGBTQ+," Kai explains to him.
"And what does that mean?" Lloyd asks. The black and red ninja seemed surprised and looked at each other before back at Lloyd. "You don't know what it means?" Cole asks. "Well at Darkleys it was always used as a mean name or for taunting, but I don't know what it means, or what the flags mean, or what bisexual means, or pansxual, or gay, or sexuality," Lloyd continues when Cole slows him down.
"Hey, that's okay, not to know what it all means. I can barely keep all the flags straight myself," He said and Kai snickers. "You're anything but straight," Cole rolls his eyes, good-naturedly.
"It just means you have different interests. I'm romantically interested in only guys while Kai's interested in both genders romantically," Cole explains, gesturing to himself rather than Kai. "Yeah and the pride parade is people celebrating it and who they love," Kai finishes.
"So it's like Valentine's Day?" Lloyd asks. "Yeah only a lot more inclusive and sometimes there's free sweets," The little boy's eyes lit up at the idea of sweets. "So the parade is about everyone loving everyone?" He asks. "And loving yourself," His adopted older brothers both said at the same time.
"Now come on, let's get these tats on," Cole said, picking up the ones Kai had chosen. "But I just like girls. Even if they have cooties, except Nya she's cool," Lloyd said. "And that's okay. The pride parade is about love for all, with no one left out except the haters," Kai said with a grin, and Lloyd can't help sharing it. "Besides your young so you don't need to choose anytime soon," Cole said as he stuck some rainbow flags to his cheeks.
Lloyd happily giggles as Kai put the updated version of the pride flag onto his two cheeks.
"Is uncle Wu and Zane okay with it? When I asked them what sexual meant they got mad and Wu took Kai's phone," Lloyd explains. "Why did you ask what sexual meant?" Cole asks. "Because it was in all the words," Lloyd said. "That's why Wu took my phone?" Kai complains. "Honestly Lloyd we don't know either," Cole lies so he didn't have to explain it.
"Now come on and hurry up or we'll be late," Kai said eagerly dragging the two boys out and too the hallway where everyone else was waiting.
Jay was smiling and wearing his normal casual clothes with a blue, white, and pink striped flag like a cape. When he saw Lloyd's cheek tattoos, he smiled widely. "See? That's the flag to go," he said.
"Huh?" Lloyd asks confused. "The new pride flag. I love it so much better since it offers more than romantic interest," Jay smiles. Nya came out wearing a pink, yellow, and blue shirt, like one of Kai's cheek flags. She kisses Jay's cheek as Zane follows her out, wearing black-and-white attire with a pin on his shirt that has an upside-down rainbow V, carrying a bag full of differently decorated, colourful cookies.
"Everyone ready? Wu has already gone ahead," Zane informs, and they all nod.
"Yep lets go," Cole said and picked Lloyd up and placing him on his shoulders.
They walked to the parade that was already well underway. It was in the middle of a large park with side walks and a parking lot so it was the perfect place for a even like this. Too Lloyd it looked more like a rainbow carnival with balloons and streamers decorating the streets and people of all ages having fun together.
"So Lloyd? What do you think?" Cole asks, smiling up at the boy on his shoulders. "It looks awesome! Can I go down now so I can check it all out?" Lloyd asks.
"Sure thing," Cole puts the boy down and he happily runs off. "I'll watch him you guys go have fun," Kai said running after his adopted little brother.
Lloyd stops outside a booth that has two girls manning it with a bunch of colourful art supplies. "What's this?" He asks. "This is a make-your-own-flag craft. It can be any flag you want with anything you want on it," One of the kind ladies explained to him.
"Can I join?" Lloyd asks. "We'll you need to pay some money," The other lady said gently. Lloyd pouts but then Kai came up. "How much?" he asks. Lloyd hugs his torso as Kai paid for him before he goes over to a workbench with other kids his age and a little older.
Kai watches him draw on then glue together two plastic flags to a long popsicle stick and drew green on the hilt. Once he was happy with what he made he ran back over to Kai smiling wide.
"Whatcha made their buddy?" Kai asks getting down to eye level with him. "I made this!" He happily held up his homemade flag of all their ninja colours, but he definitely made green a prominent by taking up two extra stripes of it in different shades and put his initials in gold on the bottom.
"That's awesome little man," Kai ruffles his hair and held his hand as they walked away to check out other parts of the pride festival.
Lloyd saw ice cream and he pulls Kai along to go get some. "Come on Kai!" He pleads. "Lloyd Zane already bought," Lloyd gave puppy dog eyes. "Okay fine, but it's our secret," He agrees. It was a hot day so Kai got them both some ice cream.
Looking at the vendor Lloyd was unsure if they were a boy or a girl because their clothing was more towards a guy, but their face looked girlish. They had on the same flag Jay did, but this time as a shirt.
Leaving Lloyd asked. "Kai? What does the flag Jay wears mean?" Kai answers while eating his ice cream cone. "It means your transgendered. That means you were born one gender, but you feel like a different gender. Jay for example was born a girl, but he feels more comfortable as a boy and that's how he sees himself and he feels happier that way," Kai explains.
"So Jay's a girl?" To Lloyd that wasn't much of a surprise since he did always think Jay's scream sounded girly, but other than that there was no proof. "Well I'm not the best at explaining it to a fault, but he was born a girl and felt happier as a boy," Kai explains to him. "But? How come he doesn't look like a girl?" Kai answers by saying.
"Like everything else. There's a pill for that,"
Lloyd pauses in his ice cream and thinks questioningly. His mind didn't dwell on it though because when he looked up he saw Kai had paused to stare at something. Following his gaze he saw he was looking at Cole from across the street who was currently stuffing his face with the cookies Zane had brought licking the icing from off his fingers.
Lloyd quickly put two and two together and a large smile grew on his face. "You like Cole don't you?" Kai becomes as red as his trademark colour. "N-no!" He stutters.
"Kai and Cole sitting in a tree K-I-S-S," Lloyd sing songs. "Quiet you little green gremlin!" Kai shushes him still really red.
Lloyd giggles and then he saw one of his old school mates, Brad, with a group. "Hey Kai? Can I go talk to Brad while you make out with Cole?" Lloyd teases. "What, no, I am not," Kai starts, but Lloyd yelled.
"Hey Cole! Kai's got something to tell you!" Lloyd yelled to the black ninja who looks up with a face stuffed with cookies making his face just as colourful as the rest of him.
He started walking over and Kai glares at Lloyd only to find he had already run over to his friend.
Kai scowls only to turn and found Cole right in front of him wiping the rainbow from his face. "Yeah Kai? You having fun? Because I am. Call me a sap, but I love any event that has to do with love," Cole says happily. Kai's red face can do nothing, but blush and nod.
Meanwhile Lloyd had found his old friend Brad who was with his aunt. "Hi Brad!" Seeing Lloyd Brad smiles from his otherwise bored expression. "Oh hey Lloyd what are you doing here?" Brad asks. "My family's here celebrating. I'm here because I was under the impression I would get free stuff," Lloyd explains to him. "Did you get any?" Brad asks. "Well my brother bought the stuff, but I didn't have to pay for it so it's free for me! Except the ice cream the vendor over there is giving vanilla away for free and the best part it's rainbow coloured, but still tastes the same," Lloyd held up his scoop. "Ooh that sounds nice. Auntie Karen can I go get free rainbow ice cream with my friend?"
Looking at the lady she was in her early forties with a expensive suit, shoes, pale but tinted skin like genes, and a really ugly hair cut. She took one look at Lloyd and sneers at him.
"No Brad! We've talked about this! We do not associate with the fags!" She scolds him. "But Lloyd isn't a fag he's my friend," Brad said. "What's a fag?" Lloyd asks. "It's what they call people like them," Brad points to the crowd and Lloyd saw he was pointing to those nice ladies at the crafts booth kissing.
"But they're happy?" Lloyd said because to him that's what was supposed to matter. Looking around everyone seemed so happy to him except for this group here that looked like protesters the boy saw on tv sometimes.
The stuff on the boards were really mean and harsh with stuff like.
Your fags for gags
You will suffer in damnation
Hetro is the only way to go!
May the FSM's glory save your dammed souls!
Brad's aunt Karen suddenly left to go do something urgent leaving the two to talk. "So what's your opinion on LGBTQ?" Lloyd asks.
"Eh, I honestly don't care. I'm only here because my parents couldn't spring for a paid babysitter. So what about you?" Brad asks. "Well I still think girls have cooties and kissing in general is gross, but there's still that vendor giving free ice cream so," Brad dropped the banner he was holding for his aunt.
"Let's go,"
The two children walked off and Brad got a scoop of vanilla ice cream in rainbow colours for free.
On their way back Lloyd saw that the anti-pride group was talking to Gale Gossip, specifically aunt Karen.
"Yes and when I am mayor I shall make sure these type of sinful events are prohibited. Fags should not exist because FSM made female and male relationships only so they may bring forth the next generation," Karen was saying like she was talking about how sorry she felt for LGBTQ+ people.
"Your aunt's running for mayor?" Lloyd asks Brad who had just finished his ice cream. "Yeah my parents hope she doesn't win because she's already a annoying pushover," Brad said as he finishes the ice cream.
"IF YOU DON'T LIKE GAYS THAN STOP MAKING GAY BABIES!"
The two boys turned their heads to see Nya had been the one to yell that and was laughing with her boyfriend right next to her. Karen's face turned enraged for a moment before composing herself even though she still had her fists clenched. She turns back to Gale Gossip and said sweetly. "And I will fund the proper education to todays young such as my young nephew here," Karen looked down to properly use Brad to help herself, but found him nowhere.
"Over here aunt Karen!" Brad waves and the cameras were turned to the two boys. Gale and her camera man instantly rushed over to the two with Karen following suit. The news reporter put her mic up to the boys. "What do you think of your aunts campaign?" She asks Brad. "I'm honestly bored, but a nice trans person gave me free ice cream down the road with my friend Lloyd so I'm having fun now," He said pointing to Lloyd. "Brad," His aunt hissed, but everyone ignored him.
"And what about you Lloyd?" Gale turns her attention to him. "I got a question for ms Karen," Lloyd said and Karen said sweetly. "Yes sweet little boy?" she asks. "So you believe only boys and girls should love each other so they can have children and LGBTQ+ can't love each other because than they can't have children, but what if a girl or boy is infertile can they still marry the opposite gender?" He continues. "Yes that is all true," Karen says proudly. "But then wouldn't they also be wrong like your saying because they can't have children naturally either? Wouldn't FSM hate them too?" Lloyd asks.
Karen's face when from smug and polite to pale and dumbfounded. "That is a good point young man what do you have to say?" Gale looks to Karen who had a mouth opening and closing like a extremely stupid fish. Lloyd was just smiling innocently while Brad covers his laugh with a cough. She then got really red in the face and Brad said. "Hey you should go," "Okay see ya later Brad," Lloyd said waving goodbye as he returned to Kai's side who was stuttering around Cole while blushing madly. Cole was just listening and smiling at Kai like he found it all really cute.
"If you wanted a date all you had to do was ask," Cole winks making Kai stop his stuttering. "Did you know your really cute when you stutter? We can talk details about it later, but for now want to see the fireworks with me later?" the earth ninja asks. Kai blinks before smiling wide and nodding. "Yeah I would enjoy that with you," he said shyly. Cole smiles and kisses his cheek and Lloyd makes a gagging noise behind them. Cole looks behind them and suddenly he saw a vendor selling rainbow cake.
"Back in a flash!" He said than ran over to the stand and leaving Kai behind who was smiling lopsided.
"Aren't you meant to be the cool flirt?" Lloyd cheekily asks getting a light push from Kai. "Shut up or I'll give you extra hard training," the red ninja said with a laugh and a blush.
Later
Lloyd happily waits for the firework show to start. He was sitting next to his uncle while Cole and Kai sat close to each other tentatively holding hands while giving each other shy looks.
"Hey Lloyd," Said boy looks over at the voice and saw Brad. "Mind if I sit with you? Aunt Karen ditched me after you roasted her," Brad said. "Can he uncle?" Lloyd looks at Wu who nodded approvingly. "So what happened?" Lloyd asks as Brad sat down.
"Well after you left she had a break down and started screaming at me that I told you about her being infertile. I honestly had no idea about that, but looks like you hit and sore spot and completely shattered her way of think since you basically said in her logic FSM hates her and will send her to the cursed realm. Anyway someone was filming her yelling at me and calling me some stuff and now it's everywhere. She ran off to talk to my uncle who's her political manager or something leaving me behind. My parents can't pick me up for another half hour though so thanks for letting me hang around," Brad explains with a thankful shrug.
"Hey guys!" Everyone saw the rest of their group approaching with each of them having something from the parade.
"Yo Lloyd! I saw the video of you roasting that hypocrite! That's gonna be on the news for awhile," Nya laughs. "And man that video of her yelling at a kid and threatening them is gold! I couldn't breath I was laughing so hard," Jay laughs as they sat down on the blankets.
Lloyd smile's proudly when Cole yells. "Hey they're starting!" And right on cue the firework display started.
Everyone in the park woos and aws at the firework display that offered colours and shapes with one of them being a heart. Looking around Lloyd saw Nya and Jay kissing while Kai and Cole were holding hands and leaning on each other happily. Zane was handing Brad a cookie who happily took it and Wu was merely enjoying the show.
Lloyd didn't understand everything about this LGBTQ+ stuff, but what he did know was love is love and that's something he'll never question.
