The (Un)official Rules of Dr. Grace's Time on The C.O.I. Towship

Summary:

Due to a cosmic anomaly potentially caused by a certain Blood Ocean Entity, The C.O.I. Towship now has an unexpected guest from another universe and/or timeline: Dr. Ryland Grace.

The following are rules Dr. Ryland Grace and Personnel are expected to follow regarding Dr. Grace until he is hopefully returned to his home.

Yes I also caught the bloodymary bug but dont worry this is gonna be a separate fic and not a 3rd chapter in the og story. I know not everyone likes the fics/ship, I get it, theres a lot of fics for the ship rn that its a bit overwhelming, so to make it easier its not gonna be 100% "canon" to the main series. if I make any future fics within this series with Bloodymary in it, you guys can just ignore it lol. I have a few idea on what I want to write next but they may take a bit to fully make them.

Also one last thing, im not a scientist, I made shit up as I went regarding the explanations of some of the things regaring the astrophage, if your looking for something peer-reviewed by a NASA scientist you already know where to look lol. Enjoy!

Work Text:

  1. As the crew is aware we have an unexpected visitor from another universe and/or timeline: Dr. Ryland Grace. His existence is not to be mentioned to the C.O.I. Council as they will most likely remove him from the towship and reduce the chance of furthering research of the Blood Ocean.

  2. If Captain Ava finds out that this information is leaked in any way you will be sent for Conviction Realization (Yes, this means Blood Ocean expeditions, not surveys.)

  3. It is unclear how long Dr. Grace will be staying with us or if/when he is allowed to go back to where he came from by the Blood Ocean Entity, but we are to treat him like a part of the crew

  4. If Dr. Grace has questions regarding research or rules about the ship, be honest to him he has not had to deal with the Quiet Rapture in his universe and/or timeline

  5. Dr. Grace is expected to follow prior rules and regulations for the towship

  6. Dr. Grace is not allowed to find "loopholes" around towship rules

  7. Dr. Grace is allowed to study the findings and documentation found in SM-13 black-box and assist other researchers in experiments on the blood

  8. If impromptu meeting with C.O.I. Council members occur, hide Dr. Grace or explain that he is a former Eden Convict under Conviction Realization

  9. Dr. Grace is not to be sent on expeditions under ANY circumstance

  10. Dr. Grace is allowed to complete experiments/studies on Simon to find any potential answers regarding his mutations and connection with the Blood Ocean Entity

  11. Addendum: Dr. Grace is now banned from performing experiments/studies on Simon

    • Inciting Incident: Dr. Grace and 2nd in Command David were found dangling Simon off the side of the towship by a rope tied around his legs. When questioned Dr. Grace explained that he wanted to see if only specific parts of Simon’s body would change if put under the blood. Dr. Grace explained that 2nd in Command David gave him the idea after David’s prior “fishing attempts” using Simon.

  12. Simon is not to blindly follow Dr. Grace’s inquiries/ideas just because he is a doctor

  13. Personnel are not to refer to Captain Ava as "Mars Royalty"

    • Inciting Incident: Dr. Grace and 2nd in Command David had compiled a list of differences between the timelines (Nicknamed the "How Fucked Are We" board.) At some point it was found that Captain Ava was a distant relative of Eden and First Mars Colony Founder: Mark Watney. Later resulting in 5 crew members trying (and failing) to have Captain Ava explain her family lineage, earning them sanitation duty for 2 weeks.

  14. Prior Eden convicts are not to have Dr. Grace explain Mars Colony/Eden Founder Mark Watney in his timeline to "compare notes"

  15. Stop asking Dr. Grace about C.O.I. Founder Eva Stratt

  16. Personnel are not to give “spoilers” about the future, Dr. Grace’s timeline is significantly different compared to ours (e.g. Space colonization, foundation of Eden and C.O.I., soon to be world leaders, etc.) telling him our history will do nothing to effect events in his time

  17. Personnel are not allowed to try and get Dr. Grace to swear

  18. Dr. Grace is not allowed to explain memes from his timeline/universe

  19. Personnel are not to recreate memes from Dr. Grace’s timeline/universe

  20. Dr. Grace is not to talk to personnel like they are children

  21. Dr. Grace is not to record “video logs” using security cameras on ship

  22. Reminder to personnel that all equipment is considered irreplaceable and should NOT be thrown when angry your idea did not work

  23. Dr. Grace is not allowed to talk to Jack without a 3rd party (Simon doesn't count)

    • Inciting Incident: Dr. Grace started a discussion with Jack, topic unknown, leading to a 2 hour argument rivaling Simon’s prior arguments with Jack

  24. Dr. Grace is not allowed speak to David without a 3rd party (Again, Simon doesn't count)

    • Inciting Incident: See: The Rope Incident

  25. It is advised that personnel do not give Dr. Grace existential crisis regarding the Quiet Rapture

  26. Do not tell Dr. Grace that the entity at the bottom of the Blood Ocean is: God, our Lord and Savior and Simon is it’s very petty messenger

  27. Simon is not to tell Dr. Grace that the official name of the Blood Ocean Entity is the “Blood God Prick” or any variation of the phrase

  28. Do not scare Dr. Grace with pictures of "Ellie" aka The Blood Eel

  29. Dr. Grace is not allowed to mention "Me-Burgers" for the rest of his stay on the towship

    • Inciting incident: Dr. Grace was not a fan of nutri-bar rations on towship, stated he missed “Me-Burgers” when asked he explained what they were he made 3 crew members vomit and 1 faint

  30. Do not ask Dr. Grace about Earth, specifically Antarctica

  31. Dr. Grace is not allowed to play the children's game: Green Glass Door with the towship crew

    • Inciting Incident: Dr. Grace on his downtime decided to play this game with other crew members, result of this game delayed expedition by 3 hours because personnel refused to move until they figured out the "trick"

  32. Not everything needs to be done "for science"

  33. Dr. Grace is not to put personnel in the corner with a dunce cap if they frustrate him

  34. Dr. Grace is only to be called Dr. Grace or Grace per his request do not call him:

    • Glasses

    • Blondie

    • Gracie

    • Graceless

    • Graceful

    • Angel

    • Cosmic Anomaly

    • Walking Paradox

    • That Guy

    • Simon's soon-to-be Husband

    • Rock Whisperer

    • Spare Parts

    • Emperor Comatose

    • Proof God doesn't know what the fuck he’s doing

    • The Blood God Prick’s new chew toy

  35. Whistling is temporarily banned, Dr. Grace can speak in music notes

    • Inciting Incident: Crew member was whistling while on shift, Dr. Grace had begun to laugh hysterically confusing everyone on board. He later explained that the tune was the equivalent of a Pebble (term used for infancy stage of species: Eridian) trying to form it’s first sentence and cussing the entire time.

  36. Dr. Grace is not to touch the X-ray gun or SM-15 whatsoever

    • Inciting Incident: Nearly another Radiation Gun Incident, See SM-13 Expedition for details

  37. Dr. Grace has drawn a picture of a circle with sticks in it calling it his "Emotional Support Rocky". Same rules apply to Simon’s dog pictures: don’t touch

  38. Do not let Dr. Grace touch the Astrophuel reserves even if he asks politely to see them

  39. Dr. Grace is not allowed to create names in relation to Blood Ocean findings

    • Inciting Incident: Dr. Grace had found that the blood in the ocean contained a significant amount of Astrophage (See the Project: Hail Mary of 33 EIC for further information) but evolved in a way that causes a cancer-like growth that effects the DNA of organisms (R&D is still researching why Simon can shift between these stages), when naming this strand he just referred to it as Astrophage 2: Electric Boogaloo (It was later renamed to Carcinogenetic Hemoglobin by R&D)

  1. The nutri-bars given for food are that only, food. Do not use them for anything else

    • Inciting Incident: Dr. Grace was informed that the nutri-bars were made up of the microbes used to prevent the Astrophage Plague of 33 EIC. He then proceeded to throw said nutri-bar into the blood ocean. Unsurprisingly one small nutri-bar will not effect several thousand miles of mutated human blood contaminated with Carcinogenetic Hemoglobin

  1. Dr. Grace is not allowed to put on puppet shows using samples retrieved from expeditions

  2. Dr. Grace is banned from piloting the towship

    • Inciting Incident: Dr. Grace was left alone for 5 minutes with the controls, told not to touch anything. Take a fucking guess what he did

  3. As a reminder personnel are not to instigate pairing crew members onboard towship (See: The Date Incident) this includes Dr. Grace

  4. No, not even if it’s painfully obvious

  5. Personnel are not to ask Dr. Grace about his opinions on Simon

  6. Simon is not to show off any part of his transformation process to Dr. Grace

    • Inciting Incident: Simon had returned from expedition, while waiting for his body to reform properly, Simon told Dr. Grace to look at him and proceeded opened his still reforming mouth, showing Dr. Grace the left side of his face splitting open, revealing his 2 sets of teeth. To those curious Dr. Grace’s response was a weak “Oh”.

  7. Personnel are not to take bets on Simon or Dr. Grace sleeping with each other

  8. Personnel are not to yell "just fuck already" when Simon and Dr. Grace are talking

  9. Not every conversation between Simon and Dr. Grace is flirting

  10. Personnel are not to sleep in any part of the ship other than their assigned room (Dr. Grace this is specifically about you)

  11. Personnel are not to sleep in each other's rooms

  12. If Dr. Grace is found asleep in R&D Area or break room, Put him in his room, not Simon’s, you're not subtle

  13. Dr. Grace is not to ask Simon to bring leaf and bark samples from expeditions to "study the blood tree” and “have Simon explain the tree." Dr. Grace you're not subtle either

  14. Crew are not to make sign of days gone by without an “Bloodymary incident” (where did that name come from?)

    • Inciting Incident(s): Dr. Grace and Simon have a habit of staring off into “space” while the other is talking, so far this countdown has not even made it to 1

  15. Addendum: Disregard rules 43 and 44, Dr. Grace can you hurry the fuck up with your feeling regarding Simon before the towship mutinies already?

  16. Crew, Simon and Dr. Grace are not allowed to request Captain Ava to officiate a wedding (Dr. Grace you’ve known each other for 1 month at most)

  17. Simon is not to try and have the Blood Ocean Entity to officiate a wedding (How would it officiate a wedding Simon? It still doesn’t even know what grass is.)

  18. Dr. Grace is not to ask Jack to weld rings (unsurprisingly Jack will say no regardless)

  19. Do not run towards Dr. Grace he will run away

  20. If someone asks for Dr. Grace’s location do not say he's in the walls

  21. Dr. Grace is to abide by his universes scientific ethical requirements

  22. Dr. Grace is to abide by his universes Geneva Convention

  23. Dr. Grace is to abide by his universes OSHA Regulations

  24. Dr. Grace is allowed to do what he wants :)

  25. Disregard the prior rule Dr. Grace is not allowed to borrow Captain Ava’s computer under no circumstance

  26. Dr. Grace is allowed to use any equipment and perform experiments on Simon again also they are married

  27. Disregard the above rule as well, Dr. Grace is now grounded until he can behave

  28. Captain Ava is mean >:(
