"could u fly to my room for 5 minutes i made u somethign cool"
"something"
"i promise it's sick"
"if u want to obv"
Well, today had been off to a boring, mundane start, so V didn't mind having something to do, especially if it was getting to see Cool Purple Thing.
V minimized Uzi's messages to her for the third time since she flew out as she - with some difficulty - made her way to Outpost 3. Sometimes she had no idea how she ever even said 'yes' to Uzi becoming her administrator, and as a result being able to communicate directly to her through her system. She'd call anyone delusional if they told her 3 months ago that she'd ever be willing to do this at all. That is, if she didn't feel like blowing them up to smithereens.
It at least helped that Uzi was someone she could trust for this, being an annoying, obnoxious, short, and nerdy gremlin, while also somehow being nice, fun to hang around with and argue with in good fun, and being rather adorable-
Nah.
Nah, nah.
...
It didn't help, however, that this blizzard was making flying a huge annoyance today, something that, as inconvenient as it was, added a layer of excitement to this whole venture.
This'd better be good.
...
She... had to admit that she was surprised she was getting anything at all. She had been extremely taken aback by Uzi's messages. So undescriptive and vague, yet they were for her. Uzi chose to make her something, which she hadn't felt in a long while, but what could it possibly be?
...
V felt a tinge of warmth as a mild blush briefly took over her visor, before it was stubbornly shaken off. Probably just some dumb prank, or something. Yeah, that sounds like Uzi.
...Uzi did seem rather excited herself though, as shown through the typo she made in a clear haste to send the messages through. Nervousness found its way into V's train of thought again.
...
There it is.
Outpost 3.
V gracefully landed near the main entrance, a cloud of asbestos forming in harmony with her touchdown. Retreating her wings, V made her way to the first huge door of many to the outpost, about to knock.
However, her fist stopped midair, a sudden, mischievous idea coming to her.
"Ehehehe..."
---
Come on, V. Uuuuugh...
Uzi was erratically pacing around her room. Tapping her visor with her fingers, her audio sensors were on overdrive as she waited for the familiar clunks of V's peg legs making their way to her room, for the knock to sound on the door to her room. V had only sent her a simple "K.", before leaving her to wonder about her whereabouts.
Pouting, her shoulders comically slacking, Uzi took out a little box she had contained in the pockets of her jacket, looking at it for the umpteenth time. Inside of it was a pair of round glasses, as brand new as Uzi could possibly get them to be, waiting to be put to their best use.
A bright blush showed on Uzi's face as she wiped a digital sweat drop off of her visor. Robo-god, I'm a frickin' mess, Uzi thought to herself.
She was sure she got the prescription right.
She was relatively sure she fumbled with them just right to suit V's farsightedness.
She was confident in everything except what V would think.
...Would she like them?
...
"Ugh, no, I've had this train of thought 6 times, shut UP!"
...
Say, now that she was snapped out of her thoughts, she couldn't help but hear a load of metal thuds overhead-
CRASH!
"OUWAH???"
The metal bars that connected the vents to her room burst from their position as V crashed into Uzi's room in a heartbeat, outstretching her arms as she landed on her peg feet. She smirked as she dramatically looked up at Uzi.
"Hey there, toaster," V said coolly, as if she didn't just nearly kill Uzi from the scare.
"V, you- I- What were you frickin' THINKING?" Uzi retorted, stomping towards V as she walked otver to her, her hands balled into fists.
"Wanted to surprise you."
"Yes- but- uuuugh... Fiiine, I could just, like, fix them later or something."
"Honestly, you could do with just keeping this shaft open. Will help me get to sneak in and see my favorite little toaster more often~" V purred, leaning down and bringing her face close to Uzi's, ruffling her bright, beautiful, purple hair with her hand.
Wait, what?
Uzi's visor was immediately flooded with a vibrant purple blush as she looked away.
...
V's visor slightly lit up, too.
"Bite me."
"Later."
V's familiar smirk came back to her.
"Aaaanyway, what'd you want me here for?"
"O-Oh, yeah, right!" Uzi's face immediately lit up as her hands wormed into her pockets, "I, uhh, always took notice of a certain problem you had, a-and I wanted to give you something to help with it. You don't have to like it, or whatever, I-I just wanted to make you something cool."
...
V was definitely positively curious now.
"Alright, let's see whatcha got," V said, a slight, genuine smile creeping onto her face.
Uzi took notice of this, her blush growing evermore vibrant.
"Uhhh, yeah, yeah, OKHEREYOUGO!" Uzi hastily finished, Holding out V's hand before slamming something onto it and nervously taking a step back.
V eyed the object in her hands. It was square, she knew that much, but her vision wasn't helping her much. Must be a box, she thought.
"Uhh, is there something in this?" V asked, pointing to the object with her other hand.
"Y-Yeah, open it."
"'Kay." V casually replied before beginning to fumble with it-
"A-ACTUALLY, could I, like, open it and show you myself?" Uzi suddenly interrupted, snatching the box from her hands and hurriedly fumbling with it.
"Uhh-"
V didn't even get to start her sentence before Uzi brought out the object, hurrying over to V.
"Uzi, slow dow-"
Uzi got on her tiptoes once close enough to V, before she pushed a mysterious, blurry object onto her face.
"Uzi! What is... this...
I..."
V took a good look at Uzi, suddenly able to perceive her far better than usual. Uzi eyed her, a wide grin now on her face.
"Cool, right?"
V took a good look around Uzi's room, now not even slightly struggling to make out every single little trinket and object that made it up.
Every pen.
Every fabric and object that formed a mess on the floor, like a painter's canvas with a bunch of colors randomly splashed onto it.
Every mad scribble on a paper on her ceiling, all connected together with a bunch of threads.
Every mysterious piece of machinery that she used to conduct whatever experiment was on her mind for the day.
And... Uzi.
Her vibrant hair, her smiling eyes, her posture, her emo jacket, all so visible.
V brought a finger to her visor, and felt...
Glasses.
Glasses.
"Soooo... What do you think?"
V barely even heard her, completely absorbed in her thoughts.
---
Thunder roared outside the manor as V was away and within it, gently dusting a bunch of ornaments decorating the library that she had been tasked with cleaning with a feather, all looking very homogenous.
She would always be able to make out the patterns on them relatively well from a distance, but this close, they all looked like blurry blobs, all the exact same, practically identical.
"'Ahoy, V!"
V turned as she saw Tessa approaching her from behind, her figure skipping towards her, a bright smile on her face. V smiled back.
"Hey, Tessa!"
Tessa's figure was growing rapidly blurry as she finally made her way to V, leaning down on one knee to her level.
"Work boring?" Tessa started brightly.
"A little, yeah, but I don't mind," V replied, bringing her hands together.
"'Right, 'right. Relief to hear that, at least! 'Kay, so, I'll cut straight to it, I kiiinda found you something I think you'll like," Tessa told V.
Oh?
"W-Wait, really? What is it?" V said, quickly growing curious.
"It's, umm... A-Actually, I think you should just see. Stay still."
Tessa fumbled with an object in her hands, before she gently nudged it onto V's face, slotting it into place.
...
Woah.
V was suddenly able to perfectly make out Tessa's face. Her bright, green eyes looked into V, and freckles were dotted on her nose and around it, like little stars in the night sky.
"They're a little... broken up, but I found these sorting through the dumps today," Tessa started, "You told me about not being able to see things all nice and well from up close, so I want to hope these will help. 'Course, i-if these glasses don't work, I'll look again for a better pair, but whatcha think?"
V glanced back at the ornaments, suddenly able to see all the patterns on them from up close. Zig-zags, curves, lines, you name it.
She looked back at Tessa.
And rushed to wrap her arms around her.
---
"Veee? Hellooo? You're kinda- Are you okay??"
V, choked up, was snapped back to reality, feeling a tear go down her visor.
"Dude, i-if it didn't work or something, I promise I'll get it right next time and like-"
V tackled Uzi into a tight hug, bringing the two onto the floor as she sobbed into her audio receptors, letting the tears freely spill.
"They're perfect. Th-Thank you, Uzi."
