I Don't Have a Name for it

Summary:

Tom Ryder had become increasingly insufferable.

To be fair, that was often the case with the actor, but lately it seemed to be more than usual.

Which was saying a lot.

For a little over a week now, Tom had been talking non-stop - gushing really - about his boyfriend.

Notes:

Hello, gosh its been so long since I wrote something with the intention of posting! Nothing too crazy kept me away, really just the fact that I moved cross country and now exist in Alaska haha

In any case, a little tidbit of lore behind this: Colt and Ryland were separated as kids and have yet to reconnect as adults.

I did get the idea/base plot for this fic from Marcipher over on TikTok! People asked for a fic, and I decided why not see what the brain can write.

Name taken from the Steam Powered Giraffe song by the same name!

Reminder that I do not own PHM, Fall Guy, or any of the characters, I'm just thrilled we can play around in the universe.

Absolutely NO AI was used in the creation of this fic.

Please be kind, I havent written things to post in months lol

Chapter Text

Tom Ryder had become increasingly insufferable.

To be fair, that was often the case with the actor, but lately it seemed to be more than usual.

Which was saying a lot.

For a little over a week now, Ryder had been talking non-stop - gushing really - about his boyfriend. His amazing and handsome and so perfectly smart boyfriend that was a teacher and had a doctorate and was just all around the best.

Ryder had even gone as far as to go on multiple tangents about some science thing he'd been taught, proudly explaining that his future husband could teach anyone, even a high school dropout like him.

Colt Seavers was nothing if not a curious man.

He was admittedly interested in seeing what poor sap Ryder had convinced to date him, but wasn't exactly committed enough to question the actor about it directly, though whispers around the set confirmed that said "super hot scientist boyfriend" would be making an appearance on set soon, so perhaps he'd get to meet the poor bloke one of these days.

That would be a problem for another day, Colt decided.

An early meeting with the stunt team - they were doing two major stunts, the car flip and a jump - and Colt was finally ready to deal with whatever the day threw at him.

After coffee, of course.

He should have known something was up when he walked up to craft services and the womn behing the counter looked at him oddly.

"Two coffee day?" she asked, head tilted, already reaching for a cup. "Or did Ryder steal it from you?"

If the first question hadn't confused him, the second certainly did. Colt blinked at her - Emma, his brain supplied - a blank look in his eyes as he tilted his head.

"Why woul-"

"Seavers, I saw you over in costuming just a few minutes ago, why aren't you ready, final checks start in 30 and you aren't even in costume yet."

Paul huffed, annoyance filtering through his voice as he tapped him on the shoulder and the stuntman looked at him, yet another evident look of confusion crossing his face as one of the assistant directors came up. Emma leaned over, sliding a black coffee across to the man before sliding across an iced sugary concoction that had Colt blinking at her in confusion before he turned his attentions to Paul.

"What do you mean, I got here 20 minutes ago, I had the stunt meeting and Jody said I had a few minutes so I'm gra-"

His voice trailed off as he turned to face Paul fully, something else catching his eye past the other man.

Tom Ryder was striding across the set, already in costume and make-up, laughing brightly at something a person next to him said, though they were partially obscured by the way the actor responded, hands waving animatedly.

Colt tried to shift, to hide behind Paul, but he was clocked near immediately if the way Ryder shifted his focus their way, grin widening as he bounded over, the second figure dragged along behind, as if he had no say in the matter.

"Seavers! Good to see you, I wanted to introduce you to m-"

The words were drowned out by static as the other man looked up and it was like looking into a mirror, a face he knew better than his own staring back at him, familliar eyes wide behind thin framed glasses.

"-lt? Colt!"

He blinked, breath catching as his twin froze, deer-in-headlights as Ryder glanced between them, delight on his face before Colt was distracted by the fact that his little brother was here, was hugging him, was trying not to cry.

"Ry?"

Colt's voice was soft and Ryland nodded, face pressed into his shoulder as he shook.

"I missed you so much, I'm sorry I didnt write like I promised i-"

Colt kept a tight hold on his twin, comforting him as best he could, sneaking a glance at the actor.

Ryder had gone still, head tilted as he watched them, for once in his life, silent.

Notes:

Hope you enjoyed!! While this is not the first foray into writing for PHM/Fall Guy, it is the first one I'm kinda good with posting, so I hope you like it!

Leave a comment, I try to respond to them all, and thanks for reading <3
