Lioness' Warm Embrace

Summary:

"If you want to be embraced so badly, how about I embrace you?" she asked.

While Gen had first rejected the idea of getting a 'hug' from Kohaku after he tried to trick Amaryllis, he's surprised when he receives the offer of a hug from her again, claiming she wants to proof she can be gentle.

Swoon June 2026 Alt Prompt: Rarepair

Work Text:

Gen knew it was kind of a scummy thing to do when he told Amaryllis he was the Master of the island after seeing her throw herself at Soyuz and Senku when thinking they were said master, but he couldn't help but try.

After all, what kind of regular guy wouldn't want an embrace from a lovely lady?

Unfortunately Amaryllis caught herself before she hugged him, already realizing he was trying to trick her and sheepishly laughing it off.

Kohaku on the other hand wasn't so amused.

"If you want to be embraced so badly, how about I embrace you?" she asked, her smile anything but friendly.

"I'll pass. You'll break every bone in my body." he shuddered at the mere thought.

What he didn't expect however was for after they prevented the villagers from Amaryllis' village in starting a riot and were following her to her home, for Kohaku to grab his wrist and stop him.

"Hey, how come you were acting so frightened earlier? When I said I'd hug you? Does hugging me really disturb you that much?" she asked with a pout, catching him off guard.

"Eh? Ah, it's not necessarily anything against you, Kohaku-chan. It's just that with your strenght, you can be a bit too forceful at times." he answered carefully, not wanting to upset her more.

"Hey, I can be gentle!" she protested.

"Somehow I doubt that..." he muttered more to himself then her, remembering all the times she'd beaten up Chrome and Ginro, he himself being lucky enough to have never angered her enough to recieve the same treatment.

"I can! Here, I can proof it right now, come here and give me a hug!" she then exclaimed, jumping in front of him and holding her arms wide open.

"E-Excuse me?" Gen stopped and stared.

"Give me a hug! I'll proof I can be gentle and you did want a hug, right?" she repeated herself.

Gen stood frozen, not sure how to respond, as on one hand he did want a hug earlier, if technically from another girl, but on the other, this was so sudden.

Then he saw the look on her face.

She had a strange mix of hopefulness and worry on her face.

She was worried at being rejected, not just for a hug but as a girl.

Now that wouldn't do. Even if she'd accidentally hurt him, he'd bear with it.

"Oh dear Kohaku-chan~ Knowing you want to hold me so bad really makes my heart flutter~ I'm honored!" he sang, making a show of twirling around and clutching his heart.

Kohaku giggled at his antics before stepping forward and throwing her arms around him, pulling him against her.

The hug was tight, but not painful at all.

In fact, it felt really nice.

Kohaku, despite her strenght was still surprisingly soft and comforting.

He carefully wrapped his own arms around her waist and hugged back, feeling her nuzzle his shoulder.

He felt warm inside and out.

After a couple moments they slowly pulled away and stared at each other.

Was it just him or was she blushing?

She looked pretty cute like that, but then again, he'd always found her kinda cute.

"Well then, looks like you proved me ong-wray, my dear. This lioness can be gentle after all." he said softly.

"Ugh, don't you start calling me a lioness too. I already get that enough from Senku." she scoffed, rolling her eyes before grinning again.

"But I guess I did proof you wrong! Now what did you think?" she asked and he was pretty sure she was teasing so naturally he couldn't help but smirk.

"I think I still got a hug from a beautiful girl after all and I definately won't mind possibly getting another anytime soon. Now, we should catch up with the others." he told her, delighting in seeing that cute blush again before rushing to catch up with the others.

He wasn't lying when he said that.

He really wouldn't mind getting hug from Kohaku again.
