“You know I never really asked… what are all the keys on that carabiner clip for?” Hearts pointed at the jumble of keys on the side table. The one near the door that they took off the street.
Kokichi shrugged at that, “I dunno man. . . I’m Lying! Of course I know~” He got up from the couch and went over. Grabbing the carabiner clip and sitting back down with Hearts. Opening the clip and pouring all of the clips between them.
“Sheesh, when’s the last time we cleaned up all these keys?” Kokichi picked up a silver key that had something sticky on it. “Ew..”
“Isn’t that the key that Bells got when he worked at Taco Hell?” She said with slight surprise.
“Definitely, it smells more of lost hopes and dreams than what radiates off of Saihara.” He said, rolling his eyes as he threw it to the side.
“That should be burned”
“Definitely,” Kokichi agreed as he picked up another key. This was going to take a while, sorting through the..
“one, two… seven… twenty, twenty one… thirty one.. forty three keys!?”
“Forty three?” Hearts said in surprise. That was way too many keys for anyone to possibly need.
“Yup, so many random ones too,” Kokichi looked at the key he was holding. “This one is the key to the laundry mat that closed down a few months ago.”
“Didn’t you take that one from the owner? He chased you down a block or two.”
“No, that never happened.”
Hearts looked at Kokichi in confusion, “then when..”
“I lied, that did happen”
“Fuck you.”
“Awww, I love you too!”
Hearts shook her head and flopped backwards on the couch. Annoyed at her boss for being a little bitch. She got back up after a few seconds and scanned over the keys.
“What’s that one for?” She pointed at a weirdly shaped key.
The key sat there, black in color with a red accent in the middle. An eye maybe? Who knows, but it was like the key was trying to draw you in.. take you and make you use it?
“Probably for a costume,” Kokichi shook his head. “Probably one I stole from Tsumugi or one that Swords found at a charity shop.”

“Wanna get ice cream?”
“Yeah, let’s go.”
Hearts and Kokichi get up from the couch before Kokichi pauses. Looking down at the stack of keys before facing Hearts again.
“We should take the weird key to throw at a toddler”
“Hell yeah!” Hearts grabbed the key and put it in her pocket.
While Kokichi went to grab his coat, Hearts went to the stairs. She looked up at them and thought. Should she go up or should she text? Maybe she could yell up.. yeah, that seems right.
“Hey! Guys! We are gonna go get ice cream! If you don't get down in five minutes you have to pay for yourself!”
After a few moments a loud thud was heard before one of the doors opened. Spades and Swords came out of the room at the same time. Pushing each other as they tried to get out the door. Swords fell down and Spade stepped over him and came down the stairs. Swords followed quickly after Spades.
“Coming,” Spades hummed as he walked over to grab his shoes.
Swords grumbled as he followed Spades to get his own shoes. “Stepping over me like that.. so nice..”
“Oh shush you two! We are getting ice cream, paid by boss!”
“I never—“
“Paid by boss.”
Kokichi shook his head and opened the door, waking out. He didn’t wait for his gaggle of oversized children to follow him. The three quickly made their way out the door, with Spades last as he locked it.
“Are you really still mad about me pushing you?” Spades asked, looking at Swords.
“Yes! That was so mean!” Swords whined. Crossing his arms and looking away from Spades
Spades sighed and looked at Swords with a little guilt.
“Sorry..”

“It’s.. okay,” Swords mumbled. “I guess..”
“Okay you two, stop arguing before people start to think this is a Yaoi fanfic.” Kokichi waved the two of them off.
It took a few more minutes for them to arrive at the ice cream parlor. The bell on the door rang as they entered the shop. It wasn’t that full but there were a good few people in there. Hearts and Swords scurried up to look at all the flavors, followed by Kokichi and then Spades walking over behind them.
“Oo! Strawberry..” Hearts sighed, basically drooling as she looked at the flavors.
“And Rocky road…” Swords said with his face almost against the glass.
Kokichi had his eye on the Chocolate ice cream before looking at Spades. While he wasn’t saying anything Kokichi could see him eyeing the Birthday Cake ice cream. He takes note of that and walks over to the cashier to order.
“Hello, what can I get you today?” The cashier asked with that customer service voice.
Kokichi tilted his head slightly as he stared at the cashier. “Can I get four cones? One strawberry, chocolate, rocky road, and birthday cake..”
The cashier nodded and awkwardly spoke “that will be.. uh.. ¥1284”
“Mmm.. I won’t pay for that”
“Then yo—“
“That was a lie” Kokichi giggled as he placed down the money for the cashier.
The cashier groaned and took the money. Putting it in the register before going back to get the ice cream. The cashier came back with two of the cones, the chocolate and birthday cake.
Kokichi took them and handed the birthday cake flavor over to Spades. Spades nodded in thanks to Kokichi. As they stood there waiting for the other two cones, Hearts tilted her head. She took the key out of her pocket and hummed.
“I forgot about this”
“What is that?” Swords asked.
“Don’t know, probably a costume piece or something,” Hearts shrugged. She paused before tossing the key to the side. “I have no use for this.”
They all looked over where it went. It accidentally hit a child on the head. Hearts brought a hand up to her mouth to stop herself from laughing. Before the key opened.. something. Like a portal maybe, definitely opened to somewhere not good though. It looked red and hot.. is that hell?
The four teens just stared as the portal took what kid and the parents he was with before quickly closing.
Hearts leaned over slowly to lick Kokichi’s ice cream before he pushed her away. They all silently looked at each other and then slowly at the cashier. Who stood there with the two cones, also just confused.
“Uhm.. here’s your ice cream. Have a nice day”
Hearts and Swords took their ice cream and nodded.
“You too”
The group walked out of the shop silently before Kokichi broke the silence.
“We are definitely throwing keys at kids again.”
The others nod in agreement
“Yeah,” Hearts sighed. “Lets!”
Swords snickered at that before Spades smacked him across the head.
