Stars should’ve kept us far from each other

Summary:

After Red and Purple defeated the Imposter, they don't know what to do next. Their situation is awful, and it's just an understimation. Will they breakdown in the face of a powerful corporation? Will their friendship be repaired? Will they find out where the imposters origin from?

Or these two broskis get to fix their friendship while wandering in space, also this happens in Rodamrix original animation bc i tought its funny. Also bc i hate Mira. Also yeah they won't be lovers cuz i just can't see them this way, buti can totally see them in qpr :D

Notes:

Yeah Purple will be a bit suicidal at the very start so ppl who can get triggered should uh mb not read but they 100% should stay safe. Wait no. EVERYONE should stay safe. Yes. Except these two beans. They gonna suffer.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: If happy ever afters would exist

Chapter Text

The day was saved. The imposters are dead. Shouldn't that be enough for them to be happy? Were they ever happy? What is being happy at all? They forgot how it feels. The last time was before all of this.

"Hey, you alright?" the other crewmate spoke… their coworker now, huh? Purple doesn't even know if they trust Red that much at all to call them so. "As alright as someone who's whole crew just died can be"

They don't deserve the truth.

Not after that.

Not after not caring about any of the deaths until it was too late.

They don't deserve to know that Purple would much rather die than stay here with them. Because, now they MUST stick together. There's no back down now. They both are gonna run away from the Mira HQ without anybody being there to help or trust them. Because nobody is gonna believe in what they know. Because nobody will believe the truth. Just like always.

Well, at least they had the ship, which was big enough for them to not meet, Purple hoped. They needed a pause, they had to calm down. Both would be big privileges regarding their current situation. A broken ship, a dead crew, and the only place they could land on was gonna kill them if they show up.

A thought of a similar direction seemed to haunt the other crewmate too, since Red asked carefully what they were going to do now. “I… don’t know… maybe we can find a place where we can stop?” Red knew Purple long enough to see the very hidden uncertainty in their voice, but decided to dismiss it. They both had zero idea what to do. “I don’t think I can safely land the ship anywhere not near Mira HQ- At least, I've never heard about any other stations where we could land.” No matter how much they hoped the captain wouldn’t say that, Purple knew that Mira had made sure that the ships couldn’t stop just everywhere. These bitches.

“So what are we doin’ now?” This time Purple demanded an idea from their coworker. After a small and awkward pause, the captain spoke up with a final decision. “I think we should fly towards the direction of earth- there’s still a minor chance that we’ll find a place to land- Or our fuel goes out before we even arrive”

So there still was hope, huh? It didn’t really lighten Purple’s mood. Right now they felt like the existence alone was hell, and the existence by Red’s side was even worse. But they didn’t have a choice, did they? They loved living life, but not this kind of life. They dreamed about changing the corporation and secure truth being communicated to the fellow humans when they first got an internship. Well, look where it got them. On a broken ship, wishing for their death, being unable to reveal ANY of the truths they learned. No one would let them to theTV or Internet with all that knowledge. They were simply too dangerous.

“You sure you’re ok?” Why must they be so ‘caring’? Purple knew Red was pretending or just trying to play it safe since they had to spend a while together now. But somewhere deep inside, a part of Purp hoped that the captain really cared for their well-being, that not all the parts of the Red they knew and liked had perished due to the influence of Mira on them. They choosed to push this idea down. Red didn't have anything good left in them.

“I’m fine.”

“...”

“I can leave you alone if you want. I have to make a new route for the ship anyway.”

After some moments, Purple considered that. “Okay, get the ship working. I’ll be taking a breath in the cafeteria.”

How ironic huh?

Taking a breath

When they are in fucking cosmos with no air.

But they still needed a pause. This was the best way to express this.

The cafeteria seemed much bigger than usual. Maybe it was because of the void replacing the constant chatting of crewmates, or maybe because the walls got higher, or maybe because even a room seemed dangerous now. Purple didn’t know which was the exact reason to make their anxiety blow up. The symptoms were all familiar. The headache, the blankness of their thoughts, the need to fidget something. This time it was their hat. They kinda liked it, it reminded them of the better times. Of someone they tought was a friend

Purple looked out of the window, staring at the stars radiating a cool light into the nothingness. Other times they would say there's no time for looking at the glowing giants, but now they just stare at them. Their brain needs time to process all that happened. So maybe they would find a way out. So maybe they will not be alone again. Maybe the memories of the things that occurred here would fade. Maybe they could live a normal life. Maybe they could even find someone who they would be comfortable to be close with. Maybe the world will get better.

Hah.

HAH.

DO YOU EVEN HEAR YOURSELF?

DO YOU REALLY THINK THE WORLD MIGHT GET BETTER?

NOTHING GOOD WILL HAPPEN HERE.

THERE’S NO WAY.

You perfectly know this Purple.

This world is built on lies and indifference.

No one cares.

“Hah”

“HAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAH!?”

“HAHHHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHHAH!?!AHAHHAHAHAHUHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHHAH!?!!?!”

Purple combusted into laughter. They were so desperate for change. They needed the world to move. They couldn't just live with the feeling of being lied to at every corner. They hated it. But a small bean can't change it. How pathetic. They tried. But even their only friend ever turned against them. Oh how they hated them now. Red was a traitor, a threat, a danger since the moment they got to see the real Purple. They never should have made that mistake.

Pathetic.

Red turned their face to the monitor showing their original target. Silently, they took off the autopilot and turned to the direction of Mira HQ. It won’t be easy. But heck they felt much better being honest with themself. It felt like a giant mountain fell from their shoulders. They just hoped to find at least some other people who would agree with their point of view. And hopefully they won’t be like Lime. This would be wonderful.

They turned the engine on and hoped for the best. Hopefully they will get along with Purple more- maybe even like they did before. Before the incident. Before all of this started to go wrong. Maybe they could be friends again. Red hoped so.
