Work Text:
Rui was standing behind the counter, constantly looking at the clock. His fingers tapped impatiently on the counter. "Almost time for me to leave. Finally."
5 minutes. 4 minutes. 3 minutes. 2 minutes.
Rui made sure the vase on the front counter looked good, and then began to leave.
Most unfortunately for him, someone burst through the door. A little shorter than Rui, blonde, and as Rui was about to discover, very loud.
"I NEED FLOWERS! RIGHT NOW!" The man yelled. "SOMETHING FOR MY SISTER! SHE JUST GOT OUT OF THE HOSPITAL AND I WANT TO MAKE HER HAPPY!"
The man looked at Rui, and his face turned red. Interesting.
Rui sighed, and quickly put on a smile. "Well, you've come to the right place for that! Does your sister have a favorite flower? Or perhaps, you want the bouquet to have a meaning?"
Stupid customers coming in a minute before closing.
The man thought for a moment. "Make it have a meaning! One meaning I, your brother, am very happy you can do stuff again!"
Rui nodded. "Got it. Want to tag it?"
"Yes! From Tsukasa Tenma, and to Saki Tenma!"
Rui exited from the counter, motioning for Tsukasa to follow him. "A bouquet to show love for your sister. You seem like a good brother."
"Only the best for her!" Tsukasa looked at the flowers Rui was grabbing. "You seem like a very good flower shop person!"
"After this, I'm going home." Rui took the flowers, wrapping a band around the stems, and placing them in a bag. He slapped a tag onto the bag, writing 'Tsukasa Tenma' and 'Saki Tenma'.
Rui then handed the bag to Tsukasa. "There you go. Have a good day, and I hope your sister enjoys them."
"Thank you, sir!" Tsukasa paid for the bouquet, and left.
Rui's smile dropped almost immediately. Finally.
He clocked out, and went home.
The next day when he went in for work, he found Tsukasa there again. "Hello, Tsukasa."
Tsukasa's smile was as bright as it was yesterday. "Hello, employee person! I was wondering if I could get some flowers for myself this time!"
"Why, of course. What kind of flowers?"
"Any that are orange or yellow!" Tsukasa pointed at his hair. "I want a bouquet to look like me!"
Rui got the flowers, and handed it to Tsukasa. "There you go."
The entire month, Tsukasa came in everyday. And everyday he would get a new bouquet.
Tsukasa was on his now daily walk to the flower shop. The guy who worked at the counter was cute. Rui. Tsukasa knew his name from the name tag he wore.
Today, Tsukasa decided it would be an amazing time to finally ask Rui on a date. It was love at first sight. He was perfect.
He entered the doors yet again.
Rui looked at Tsukasa, already moving to the flower section. "What is it today?"
Tsukasa didn't respond for a few seconds. The nerves were getting to him. "...I want a bouquet perfect to ask someone out! Fill it with your favorite flowers! I trust you!"
Rui did just that. He handed it to Tsukasa. "There you g-"
Tsukasa got down on one knee, handing the bouquet to Rui. "WILL YOU GO ON A DATE WITH ME?!"
"...What?"
"A date! I want to go on a date with you!"
Rui stood there for about a minute in complete silence. Then a small, living smile appeared on his face.
Tsukasa was quite...charming, in his own special way.
"I'd love to."
