Work Text:
Luke comes home from filming, kicking off his Converse and setting his black bag down by the door as it closes behind him with a 'clack'. He stretches the stiffness out of his body. Running around for 12 hours sure was energy-consuming. Today was the longest he'd spent on set filming for this series. His lack of sleep due to such fluid shooting hours was catching up to him.
On some days, it was as bad as receiving calls the night before informing him that the next shoot was at 6 am, or, as early as 8 o'clock as he and Andrew are lying in bed about to get ready for their date, when Luke would find out that he'd need to shoot an important scene that night, in 19 hours at a ridiculous hour like 3 am, which would leave Andrew pouting and burying his face in his pillow for the rest of the morning. And as a result, Luke would end up returning home the same day drained.
However, luckily for Luke, today wasn't some absurd o'clock and he'd managed to return home on the same day he'd left, except barely. Better than not though. Also, since set was nearby - only half an hour away, thankfully - after any gruelling days, Andrew would be waiting for him at home with open arms.
The apartment is completely silent. Usually, when Luke comes home after Andrew, Andrew would rush to the door to greet him and showering him with kisses. But, the only noise you could hear was the clock ticking and the sound of the refrigerator running. Shrugging it off, he assumed Andrew would be sleeping. He'd returned late anyway.
A glance across the dim hall to Andrew's study, which had the door left ajar and a small amount of light beaming through, was enough for Luke to know he was in there.
He tiptoed over to the door and peered his head in to find Andrew hunched over his desk, head in his folded arms. Books and textbooks are messily scattered across the desk, his laptop home screen illuminating the room, and a notebook and pen neatly tucked into the corner. Sitting on the floor by his feet are multiple empty mugs with rings of black coffee stains at the bottom. Luke chuckles to himself.
As he approaches the desk, Andrew's eyes flutter open, like on instinct, and glances up. A tired smile stretches across his face. Luke holds out his arms, inviting Andrew in for an embrace. Andrew gladly accepts, rising from his desk to match Luke's height (although he's slightly taller), wrapping his arms tightly around Luke's slim waist. Burying his face in the crook of Luke's neck, he inhaled the familiar, homey scent that would comfort him on bad days.
Luke plants a soft kiss on the top of his head, "Tired?" He asks, barely over a whisper.
"Mhmm," Andrew murmurs, "Very. You're back late, it's almost 12 o'clock."
"I know. Filming went on longer than expected. Many retakes were needed and I think everyone was exhausted."
"I see... Don't overwork yourself. You need to rest." Andrew nuzzles further into Luke's neck.
"Haha, okay. I'm sure filming will wrap up quicker next time," Luke laughs softly, "That tickles."
Silence envelops them as they stand like that for a few minutes, Luke rubbing Andrews's back, tracing the bumps of his spine.
"Do you want to talk about it?" Andrew's voice is muffled with sleep.
"Nah, tomorrow. I'm way too tired to think about work right now. But.. I'm not too tired to watch a movie."
Last weekend, they'd planned to watch one together today after Luke returned home, but Andrew had already fallen asleep at his desk.
"No, let's watch one." Andrew's lips quirk up and Luke can feel Andrew's teeth faintly against his skin.
After a few moments, he jerks his head up and pretends to rub the sleep out of his eyes. Suddenly, Andrew was more aware and awake than he was 10 seconds ago.
It was about time the weekend had approached and they could finally spend some quality time together. Recently, almost all of their interactions had been brief. With both being swamped with work, unable to catch a single break. Finding time alone together was difficult and and waiting was starting to get unbearable. Getting to Friday felt like an eternity had passed. Although their usual, daily lives was fun, it gets to a point it isn't all sunshine rainbows. Like when you're drowning in regret of not kissing your boyfriend goodbye that morning or reminding them that you love them. This week had felt like it had dragged on forever.
Luke takes Andrew's hand and guides him over to the couch and grabs the TV remote from their coffee table in front before sitting down. Andrew plops down next to him and lies down, head resting in Luke's lap. He lies facing the TV in front and shifts his long legs, which almost don't fit the length of the couch, up on the space next to them.
"What do you wanna watch?"
Andrew turns his head to see his lover. "Whatever you want."
"Okay, I'll see if there's anything new out that we haven't seen."
At this point, they've watched everything. Usually, Luke tells people he likes action, but Andrew knows he'll enjoy watching anything. Andrew prefers science fiction, but to be honest, he'll watch anything to spend time with Luke. He's not really fussed.
Pressing the Netflix button, they scroll through hundreds of familiar movies, occasionally spotting new ones. When choosing films, they always end up getting distracted and find themselves laughing at ridiculous movie titles and summaries that sound awful. After a while of searching, they find something to agree on.
Since it was already quite late they decided a shorter movie was the better option which was only an hour, compared than usual 2 hours plus. An actor they were fond of was starring in it. One of Luke's future dreams was to work on any production with her. Now, he had a greater chance since joining the film industry compared to when he was a teenager, when he would stay up late binge-watching shows she featured in as inspiration. They both agreed she was an excellent actor with amazing talent; this kind of opportunity was certainly rare. Andrew was obviously rooting for him, and just that fact alone made it feel like nothing was impossible.
Darkness fills the room as the movie begins and the iconic movie production intro plays.
Luke reaches to his side of the couch and grabs the blanket that's draped over the side and covers Andrew with it. Andrew caresses Luke's leg as a way of showing his affection back, silently thanking him.
Luke's lips curve into a smile, butterflies fluttering in his stomach. No matter how much they touch each other, Luke will never get used to Andrew's sweet, gentle love. He combs his fingers through Andrew's soft brown waves. His hair is always so fluffy, like the fur on a cat's stomach, and Luke loves it.
Andrew's chest rises and falls as he concentrates on the movie intently, the screen's reflection in his wide pupils.
Even though the film had only just started, Luke was completely distracted, unable to focus on it at all. Instead, his eyes trace Andrew's features. His sharp jaw, the bridge of his straight, pointy nose and his captivating eyes that were like emeralds that affectionately gaze into his everyday.
Andrew glances back at Luke, then shifts, so his whole body is now facing him.
Luke freezes. An awkward laugh escapes his throat, "What are you doing?"
"Just admiring the better view. What are you doing?"
Luke chuckles, flattered, shaking his head slightly. He cups his boyfriend's face with one hand and leans down to plant a kiss on his plump lips. Andrew melts into it, threading his fingers through the hairs on the back of Luke's head, pulling him closer.
"Mmm," Luke moans against Andrew's lips as the kiss deepens.
They part, gazing into each other's eyes, pupils wide like black pools.
Andrew, who was now hovering over him, had his hands supporting himself at each side of Luke's head. A moment of silence passed. It was clear what was going to happen next.
Slowly, Andrew bends down to reach Luke's lips, ghosting over them with heavy breaths, before crashing them together again. Teeth clack and audible moans fill the room, both starving for each other's touch. Most of their kisses were hungry and sloppy, but none were for anyone else's view, so it didn't need to be executed like on set. No need for perfection or performance, just human.
Luke wraps his arm around Andrew's neck, nails digging into his clothed back. Red marks would definitely appear tomorrow. Tongues swirl and hot breaths mingle, burning with desire, desperately begging for more. Being tangled up with one another just wasn't enough, they craved more.
Then gunshots from the TV interrupt them. An intense action scene with guns, blood and chasing disrupts their passionate make-out session, causing them both to turn to the side with wide eyes to see the movie playing before them and burst out laughing.
Andrew lets his body rest on top of Luke's, shoulders shaking as he chuckles into the crook of his neck. He's not heavy but not light either. Just right for Luke. Their bodies fit so perfectly together, slotting like a puzzle piece, like Ying and Yang.
"We're not watching any of this, are we?" Luke giggles, fumbling around for the remote due to his restricted vision.
"Hah, definitely not."
