Chapter 1: To Be or not To Be

Chapter Text

“BOOMIE? GET-GET OUT OF THE WAY!” Galaxy screamed, his altered voice echoing in his throne room.

“Are you insane? YOU THINK I'm not going to get revenge for Stormz?” Boomie asked back, confused as to why Galaxy was invis and had a voice changer.

“Revenge? Oh, were you a friend of his or something?” Slushly snapped at number four. He too wore invis and a voice changer. He stood atop number 3’s throne. The memories flooded his mind and made his skin boil.

He didn’t want to think about it.

“Student, actually. He-taught me everything I know,” Boomie replied to the impersonator, his voice bleeding with anger.

‘Use that anger,’ Boomie could hear Stormz say in his head.

‘If you’re going to fight with your emotions, you might as well use them to your advantage,’ Boomie thought about his past training. If he couldn’t live up to have the title of Vanguard number three, he could at least kill the person that’s wearing his skin.

“Oh, well, if you’re his student you might stand *some* chance against me,” Slushly chuckled, his eyes creeping to the corner of the room. Old cobwebs laid on the floor, not yet cleaned up by the new vanguard.

He came here looking for Vanguard one, but how could he pass up the chance to meet the new number three?

“Boomie, get out of here, I know you want to get revenge for Stormz but I-…”

‘If you wish to finish claiming this title, you must rip the shield off of his body’ Mugm’s voice throbbed in his head.

He needed this. At this moment, HE was the impersonator, not the stranger in front of him.

Boomie grabbed Galaxy by the arm and lifted him, forcing Galaxy to make eye contact.

“Im not leaving.” Boomie said through grit teeth. Even though Galaxy was invisible, Boomie knew how to stare into his soul.

Slushly clicked his tongue and fiddled with an arrow and snapping in it in half,

“Are you two done over there? Because I have another vanguard I need to kill and you’re kinda wasting my time…” Slushly’s voice dragged on.

Boomie wrapped a pink ribbon on Galaxy’s arm, “There, now I can tell you two apart.”

Galaxy pulled his arm away and punched him with index, scrambling his inventory.

“You need to go-“

“Okay I’m done waiting,” Slushly threw division, hooking onto one of Boomie’s horns and swapping places with him. Slushly lunged in and sliced at number three, lacerating their arm.

“Oh shit,” Galaxy cursed, throwing an ender pearl towards the center of the room. He sees how this player was able to kill Stormz, they were hella strong.

“G-STORMZ!” Boomie shouted, almost saying Galaxy’s name. He winced at himself calling Galaxy by Stormz’s name, it was the only one he could think of. He ran towards Galaxy, disoriented from Division, and threw down some potions.

Boomie was going to fight no matter what.

Slushly swapped with a breeze rod and soared above the two, preparing to drive a mace through the student’s head just as how he has with the mentor. Boomie reacted quickly and sharply held up his #4 shield. Boomie rolled back from the impact and swiftly brought himself to his feet.

Galaxy clutched his arm and shoved a healing potion down his throat, he couldn't see the blood that he felt pour down his arm due to the invisibility, but he could feel the streams of wet warmth on his skin. He shouldn’t have used Index on Boomie. He was stupid for that, he was better than that. He needed to get his shit together and kill this guy.

[quick intermission]
Boomie’s command block item! (Entirely fanmade and not cannon)

Lance: a goat horn, when played in game it makes boomie’s reach infinite. This means he can attack, break, and interact with anything from any distance.

In this fic, This gives Boomie telekinetic powers for about 10 seconds, cooldown is 6 minutes
[back to the story]

Slushly followed his mace hit with several swings from his sword. He had hope that this student would put up a good fight like his mentor.

Boomie tried his best to parry, analyzing the mimic’s attacks and reading his sword movements.

Galaxy started to run in from behind, managing to tear open the target’s back.

Galaxy prepared another attack, swinging his axe up high.

Slushly swapped with Boomie again, causing Galaxy to almost cut Boomie’s arm off.

Slushly turned to face the two, he couldn't help but laugh.

“You two having some trouble there?” Slushly joked, backing up and taking a sip of regen.

Boomie grunted as he dropped his shield to the floor, he mechanically poured regeneration on the wound and it started to stitch itself back together. He had dealt with worse, the training Vanguard had put him through after he couldn't live up to Stormz… it was brutal.

But it was all for this very fight. The chopping and regenerating…the beatings, the scars, they were all for this fight.

Galaxy didn't even look at Boomie and instead charged straight for the doppelgänger, going for the offense and forcing the figure against a pillar and trying to shove his sword to the figure’s throat.

“Woah there, no need to get feisty!” Slushly replied, pushing himself and number three off the pillar and continuing to parry the blows. Slush couldn’t understand why this person was chosen to be number three, their skill barely matched Stormz. The only thing Slushly could notice was how mechanical and precise all of their movements and attacks were. They had most likely been trained by someone else.

Slush and Galaxy’s swords glided against each other, sparks flew from the impact. Slushly thrusted Three back and windcharged once more into the air.

Boomie took a deep breath and blew into the goat horn, his arms filling with a tingling sensation once more. He used his telekinesis to pin the impersonator to the ceiling of the bunker, long enough for his partner (non romantic) to stand up once more.

Slushly groaned, “Well that’s new! And kinda overpowered…”

He remembered fighting P&Q with, him. They couldn’t be killed unless killed at the same time.

‘I wonder how he managed that.’ Slush pondered.

Through Boomie’s invisible grasp Slush was able to hook onto v3, swapping places and spearing him in the shoulder, pinning number three to the ceiling.

Galaxy let out a cry as he felt warmth leaving his body and dripping to the ground.

He can do better, he needs to do better, this isnt what Mugm trained him to be.

The tingling sensation in Boomie’s arms faded and left Galaxy hanging on the roof.

“Fuck this,” Boomie cursed as he lunged in on the imposter with his spear, grazing them on their side.
He took out his axe and would've killed the person had they not worn a helmet. The blow dented the netherite helmet, leaving a distinct gash on it’s left side.

Slushly grabbed Boomie’s axe in a panic, trying to twist his arm. Boomie retaliated and landed a punch on the killer’s head and kicked them in the gut.

Galaxy trembled in pain as he frantically poured a regen pot on his shoulder and pearled down to join the fight.

Slushly grabbed the student’s leg and threw the deer to the ground. Pulling on his horns with his foot on his back (think like that one gojo and Hanami scene in jjk).

“AUGH-H-HEL-P” Boomie cried, shouting for Galaxy’s help.

“Boomie!” Galaxy gasped, still shaking from the burning in his shoulder. He ran quickly and tackled the target to the ground, putting them into a headlock. Galaxy pulled down hard on the other’s throat, feeling their blood pump in their veins.

Boomie’s head slammed against the floor, breaking his nose. His head throbbed from the killer pulling on his antlers, enraging him even more.

Stormz always told him to shorten them, in case of something like this happening to him.

He should have listened.

“Okay, okay!” Slush muttered, underestimating the new v3. To be fair, they did catch him off guard.

Boomie got up, adrenaline boiling in his veins. He ran over and kicked the killer in the crotch.

He was going to play dirty. He was going to make this player pay.

Galaxy tensed his arms as much as he could, his shoulder still leaking warmth. ‘Come on Come on Come on’ he said to himself.

Slushly curled in from Boomie’s hit, his vision blurring and his airway started to close. He swiftly switched from trying to get out of the headlock, to hooking number three with division. He gripped number 3 even tighter, turning the tables and drawing his sword.

Galaxy panicked in his switch in positions, his vision immediately going dark.

Boomie was getting tired of the swapping, it was getting annoying. He took out his spear once more, and started to stab at the intruder once more.

Slushly was about to slit number three’s throat before having to stop to avoid Boomie’s spear. Slushly grabbed Boomie’s spear by the tip, warm fluid dousing his hand. He winced in pain as he threw the spear away, tearing it from Boomie’s grasp.

“What the fuck,” Boomie cursed in confusion. He had never seen someone do that before. He wind charged in the air, trying to smash the imposter.

Slushly shook his hand, crushed a health potion in his grasp, broken glass flying to the floor. He noticed the student’s attempt to mace him. He shifted number three up, using them as a meat shield.

Galaxy’s eyes watered as he saw Boomie’s pink hair fall down from the ceiling.

Boomie could only move so much without hurting himself. He gasped as he smashed down on Galaxy’s right shoulder.

Galaxy tried to scream as he felt his collarbone snap. His strangled gasps only came out as the target continued to choke him.

He couldn’t go like this, he was better, he was better, HE WAS BETTER….

Galaxy’s world slowly went dark.

Nufuli flew down into Stormz’s lair. Mew had told him that a player named Galaxy had killed her and took index. She said he needed it to become vanguard three. Nufuli didn't want to believe her. Maybe Galaxy’s uprising is the reason Stormz joined the restrictors, he didn't know. He came to the city looking for answers.

He stared at the red and black halls decorated with the number three banner. He put on his chestplate and started to sprint as he heard noises coming from a room down the hall ahead of him.

He stood in the foyer, watching in confusion as he saw two invis people with number three’s on their shoulders on the ground. One seemed to be choking the other out. There was also another player, pink hair and deer-like antlers.

One of them had to be Stormz.

Boomie picked up on the new body in the room, snapping his head to look at the player.

“Nufuli?” Boomie muttered in shock. This was the person Stormz told him about. The one who held the book of knowledge and the one who Mugm wanted to replace Stormz with as V3. Stormz himself talked about his fights with Nufuli and how, if he didn’t have dilation he probably would have died. He even overheard Mugm talk about him once, and how he was impressed with Nufuli’s fighting abilities.

Slushly dragged his gaze to match with the student’s.

“Oh. You’re here,” Slushly growled, immediately letting go of Number three and standing tall. Wow all his targets in one place, how nice. What was that bastard doing here anyway.

“Oh hello Stormz, and-“ Nufuli hesitated. He took out his unrestricted book. He wasn't expecting to find Stormz, then again it is the City of Life. Stormz had caught him at a bad time, but now. He was ready for a fight.

Boomie froze like a deer in headlights. What was he supposed to do? As much as he prided himself as a good fighter—hell even one of the best, he had no idea how he would stand against Nufuli.

Wait a second. Did Nufuli say Stormz? No. No, he’s lying. He has to be. No why would Stormz do this. No, he wouldn’t. Not to him.

Unless it was a test. Maybe even punishment for not gaining his title as V3. But why would he be trying to kill Galaxy? Maybe it was a good thing he didn’t get the title as v3…

“You ready for a little rematch? I came here for—heh—a different reason but, I think I have time to spare,” Nufuli replied, memories of what Stormz had said in Mew’s mining civilization burned into his skull. He was going to kill Stormz for what he did to Slushly.

“Oh? Well, Evpark did say he unrestricted you…I mean I was here doing a little bit of…well-uh training you could say with my student Boomie here and his friend. But I'm ready for a rematch,” Slushly played into the name of vanguard three, remembering that’s what Nufuli saw him as.

“Yeah, he did. You still have, uh, division? Yknow, the one that you ripped off of Slushly’s body?”

Boomie knew that name. Slushly. Stormz has said something about Slushly and him having an undocumented command block item named division.

'Speaking of which, where was Dilation, Stormz’s clock?' Boomie thought.

“How about we quit chatting and I show you” Slushly drank an Invis potion and swapped with a wind charge he threw at the “hero”.
