Chapter Text

A small village cloaked in overcast skies sat upon a calm mountainside. All was still until several dragons of all things burst through the clouds and landed just outside the village’s walls. Four color-coordinated warriors dismounted from the otherworldly beasts and rushed into town, ready for a fight.

In the center of the village stood a fountain which had just been “conquered” by a little kid dressed in a hoodie with a charmingly hand-painted rib design, a tattered blanket cape wrapped around their shoulders and dirt stained jeans.

“Mwah ha ha! It is I, the child of darkness, spawn of the evil lord! Surrender your candy!”

The four ninja caught most of the villainous spiel as they ran into the town square. They exchanged confused glances before the blue one spoke up.

“Uh, did Garmadon turn into a kid or something?”

“Or maybe he has a son?” Cole speculated.

Everyone’s attention turned to Zane. “Not that I know of.” He said with a shrug.

But it seemed like the simplest explanation, given the child’s self-proclaimed heredity and their strange resemblance to the dark lord. Those sharp fangs, pointed ears, and the red tint to their eyes that almost seemed to glow in the shadows. There was definitely some relation between the two.

The child spoke again with slightly less confidence, as though not expecting to get this far into their candy takeover.

“Er... Er... Gimmie your candy or else I'll release the Serpentine on you!”

With another maniacal laugh for good measure, the child struck a villainous pose. Or at least, they would have if the townsfolk hadn’t pelted them with carrots, onions, and any other vegetables they could get their hands on.

“No! Not vegetables! That’s the opposite of candy!” Before the strange kid could retaliate to the veggie onslaught the biggest and strongest of the ninja grabbed them by the hood like a kitten by the scruff. They growled and tried to scratch at their captor but were kept just out of range of revenge.

“Unhand me!” They squealed.

The red ninja looked at the feral child in front of him with one brow raised. “What should we do with him?”

Jay was about to list off a hundred different suggestions when the kid suddenly went still. After a moment of awkward silence, he hesitantly spoke.

“It’s a weekday, so maybe he escaped class? Where do you go to school?”

For a moment it almost seemed like the kid was going to reply, but instead they snarled and started flailing again in another attempt to escape Cole’s grip.

“Perhaps it would be best to take him to sensei.” The ice ninja chimed in. “If he is a relative of Garmadon then he is also a relative of Wu.”

The other three nodded in agreement and Cole adjusted his grip on the kid to an underarm carry. Unfortunately for him, he underestimated the kid’s agility and in the blink of an eye they were free, leaving him with nothing but a bite mark on his hand.

Whoever this kid was, they were not normal. In their momentary shock none of the ninja managed to recapture them before they disappeared into one of the town’s many alleys and completely out of sight. Four ninja bested in stealth by an 8, maybe 9 year old. That was undoubtedly not normal.
