Chapter Text
The sound of the rain pattering on the wet pavement filled the air as the door of the taxi opened.
Date: January 19th, 2039.
Current time: 9:32 pm.
Every Wednesday, Connor and Hank had a routine. Connor would go to Hanks house and they would watch a movie. Usually a crappy, cheap one with bad acting and a bad plot. The kind of movie you would find at a thrift store for a dollar. Connor didn’t seem to care that much about the movie though, he mostly cared about the experience.
Ever since he was paired up with Hank all those months ago, he had changed. Of course, he still executed his function, but besides that he felt….more alive. Not too long after, he became a deviant..not to anyone's surprise. Hell, the android already had human traits way before he actually became one. Although, the entire thing scared him. What if Hank didn’t care for him anymore, what if the only person he actually formed a bond with left him for something he couldn’t control. But to his surprise, Hank didn’t mind at all. They hugged, and Connor couldn’t have felt any better. That was back in November, and now in January, he hadn’t changed his opinion. Which is why, as he found himself 32 minutes late to this tradition, he panicked.
Quickly hopping out of the taxi, he walked, his pace fast, up to the lieutenant's house. He knew Hank wouldn’t mind that much..but that feeling still gnawed at him. The fear in his body clouded his judgement, and he knew he just needed to see him and apologize. That would get this weight off of him.
Almost instinctively, he dragged his hand up and knocked on the door gently, one time. He stands there, waiting. Nothing happens, not a single sound even present. He knocks again, a bit impatiently this time, his hand firmer than last time. The rain still poured down, faint drops trickling down the back of his suit-jacket. Before he could even drag his hand away from the door, the faint sound of Sumo barking jolted him up-right, which put him on edge. The sudden sound contrasted the silence of the area around him, and he couldn’t help but feel uneasy. As he started scanning the area out of instinct, he noticed something. The sound of Sumo's barking seemed distant. Distant? Why would he sound far away if he was barking at Connor and the door? Wait. Sumo wasn’t barking at the door, he was barking at something inside of the house. His LED which was originally yellow turned a deep red, his legs locking up. Was Hank ok? That question rang in his mind as he took a deep breath. He needed to find out what was happening in there. Expecting it to be locked, he firmly grabbed the handle and pushed open with force to try and break the lock, but to his surprise, the door was unlocked. The sudden force jolted Connor forward, landing him on his knees in Hank's house. Clearly not expecting it, he let out a huff. The sudden movement didn’t surprise him much, his head was way too active. New questions heavy in his head. Why didn’t Hank lock the door, why was it so quiet inside besides the sound of Sumo barking? Was Sumo actually barking at the door, and not something inside? Was Hank okay? Different questions without answers whipped around in his head, but his thoughts were soon pushed down as he dragged his eyes up.
