Chapter Text
This is the story of Cal, a boy who grew up in the middle of a jungle island, deserted and unsure of his past. He dreams of becoming a Sailor. He toils day and night building a ship with components from around the Jungle. Life in the Jungle is not easy, and a stream has become his only source of food. Through trial and error, he teaches himself how to catch fish with a spear and uses the heat from a geothermic spring to make a cooked dish. As time goes by, his memories become mixed and distorted and he is unable to deduce the time of events. The only constant contained within his mind is his desire to one day sail to a safer place. He eventually creates a form of pottery to secure the deck of the ship. He uses many pieces of wood to create a scaffold. After a year of effort, the ship is complete. He is taken aback by his creation. However, as he looks at the ocean, all he can see is the endless abyss. He would have no way of knowing what would be out there or if there was even any land to find other than his jungle island. He then considers the thought that the sun couldn’t possibly simply rise and set just for his existence. He sets sail. An hour into his journey, his island disappears. Two hours in, he has lost his bearings. There would be no going back. Days and nights pass. He has accrued a stockpile a collection of fish, berries and wild game. They were the only proof that the island that he lived on wasn’t just a delusion that he had dreamed of. Countless days pass. He has run out of food. His hope has perished. He falls asleep on his boat, feeling irrefutable anger at his existence. All of his effort was for nothing as he falls asleep from what he believes is the last time. Asleep, time is nothing. He drifts in the endless void of unconsciousness. Nothingness. Eternality. The would have thought of it an improve from his older living situation, if he was awake to think. Time passes. He feels his body and knows that his soul hasn’t left his human vessel of a body. The rocking of his ship has stopped. The constant of waves has been appended to with the bellowing of birds. He has succeeded.
