Sensei... We are homeressu...

Summary:

A story of a dude who used a summoning ritual to take himself to Kivotos. (Not a self-insert)
Now in the form of a student, she finds herself with nothing to prove her existence, not despairing she decides to first make camp in Kousagi Park, luckily for her, she comes across the experts in homelessness.

Tagging along as the honorary 5th member of the RABBIT Platoon, she'll find herself involved in a few rather unexpected situations, especially with how quickly the plot is going to move with her in it.

This is my first time ever writing a novel, let alone a fan-fiction. Any mistakes or logical inconsistencies, feel free to point them out. I also tried to make the characters have personality but I'm not great at adding filler so hopefully they'll get some soul in the future chapters. Oh and that title, I'll probably leave it as is but as a beginner writer, I'm not sure how long I'll be able to keep the homeless gimmick up ('w')

Chapter 1: Kousagi Park and the Homeless Squad

Chapter Text

As I take in the clean air around me, as I see the concrete walls surrounding me, as I see the cars just outside of this alley.

I come to the realisation, I've done it.

"Yes... Yes! I'm here! Finally!"

I have spent the last two years attempting to transport myself to Kivotos, from miraculously surviving encounters with truck-kun to demonic rituals in the middle of night...
I have finally achieved my goal!

But before I take my first step of my new life lets think about what got me here...

###

"Alright... According to the instructions... Here, here, and here"

With the materials in place, I allow myself a creepy laugh, even if the last hundred rituals failed, this one will surely work.
The last thing to do is light the candles.

After lighting the ten candles in a decagon formation, I stand in the middle of the ritual and chant the words I know all too well,
"We thirst for the seven wailings. We bear the koan of Jericho."

Patiently waiting the required twelve minutes, I notice a faint glow forcing it's way through my closed eyes.
Not knowing if it's due to the ritual or otherwise, I force my eyes shut in case it interupts the ritual.

Eventually the glow disappears and I let out a tired sigh,
"Another dud, huh"

Opening my eyes and getting ready to clean up the materials, I suddenly realise that the old wooden attic I was in had turned to an open sky, concrete walls and of all things, a large halo lording over the area.

###

"So, now that I'm here, let's save the world!"
Or so I said, but now that I've calmed down, my voice sounded a bit high pitched there.

Giving myself a once-over I notice some strange things...
It seems I've become a Student rather than a Sensei.

"Well, as long as I'm in Kivotos, that's not my problem!"

Might as well get used to who I am now.

Firstly, my clothes.
A black hoodie, a simple white short sleeved T-shirt, dark grey cargo shorts... That's it?

Second, my pockets.
Nothing?

Lastly, my body.
I seem to have light pink hair if the strands on my face are anything to go by. Judging by the vending machine next to me, I should be around 153cm tall.
Smooth skin, slender figure, just overall beautiful, yep, sounds like a gacha game character! Though there is barely anything on the chest... Should be fine, I wasn't going to use them anyway.

With that out of the way, I seem to have no phone, wallet, ID or anything.
If I know anything about webnovels, this body has been made specifically for me without any background or otherwise.

First things first, let's get out of this alleyway.
Taking my first step in Kivotos, I lead my way out of the alley I 'spawned' in.
Truly, even at night it's a breathtaking scene.
Though there are few people on the streets, cars still come through, bars are still open and you can hear the boisterous atmosphere even from here.

However, I've come to the realisation, I have no identification, money or even a smartphone, meaning I can't do anything at all.
"Areeeee..?"

###

After walking around for a while, this place is certainly D.U, even at night the Sanctum Tower is clearly visible, and it seems I've come across my home for the foreseeable future.

Kousagi Park.
The same very park that RABBIT Platoon lives in.
I'm not too sure what point in the story we are but they're probably asleep right now anyway.

After walking around the park for a bit I find a good bench to sleep on, it's out of the way and long enough to fit my entire body.
I'm barely managing to stay awake for even a bit longer after lying down, I guess I was more tired than I thought.

"With that... Good night..."

###

Morning it is, the sun is shining, the birds are chirping, joggers are giving me weird looks.
A wonderful start to my new life.

Getting up off my new bed I decide the first thing is to get a job.
From walking around town yesterday, I found some good places that I wouldn't mind working at.

Now! Forwards charge!

###

Walking out of the last convenience store on my list with my head down and arms swaying I realise just how hard it is to live without identification...
I applied to 23 places, sure 4 of them didn't need new hires but the rest didn't give me a chance once I said I have no ID.

Work seems to be out the window, if even construction sites wouldn't take me, I doubt anyone will.
Money... From stealing? Join a delinquent gang? Oh wait, I don't even have a gun to use...

By this point I've walked back to my bed in the park and am now in Auguste Rodin's "The Thinker" pose.
With my hand on my chin, I certainly look like I'm pondering the universe's secrets but really I'm just trying to stop my stomach from grumbling.

Then, it hit me.
Why not just ask the rabbits how they live? They're my senpai in homelessness after all.

Jumping off my bench and giving fright to the nearby citizens I immediately begin running around Kousagi Park trying to find them.
Luckily I didn't need to run for long as I heard the oh so common sound of gunfire in this ever quiet park.

After making my way through the park I catch someone's voice across the wind.
"Just surrender! We're sick of coming here every day!"
"Then don't come here!"
It seems two students are having a "calm" verbal discussion through megaphones.

And as I turn the corner I see what the commotion is about.
My homeless senpai are being assaulted by Valkyrie officers, of course, the battle is in the favour of RABBIT Platoon.

As someone with no gun and not knowing how strong my halo is, I decide to wait it out.
Finding a good spot in the grass to lie down I flop on my side and give my best example of a Greek emperor being fed grapes.

"We'll be back!"

It seems that in the time I spent lying down and perfecting my pose, the Valkyrie students have already run off.
Having just lied down I don't want to bother getting back up, thankfully the RABBIT Platoon are already on their way over to me.

"Hey, the one lying down weirdly, what's your business here?"
Or so Saki says, clearly finding my beautiful form strange.

"Well well, if it isn't my senpai, you can't even recognise your own kouhai?"

"Kouhai? But we're still freshmen??"

"Non non, kouhai in homelessness!"

I seem to be getting four pairs of blank stares coming from their direction, strange.

Since no one seems to be saying anything I guess I'll speak up again...

"Ahem... I-I mean, you are homeless right? I am too, since very recently. And I am starving, please give me food"

RABBIT Platoon immediately meet eyes with each other, truly, their bond is strong to be able to communicate just with their eyes.

My arms are beginning to hurt from all this posing, please respond?
Thankfully it wasn't long until I heard a sigh from Saki.

"Alright... Follow us, but don't try anything"

Quickly jumping up from the ground, I follow them as they lead me in a diamond formation to their base.

As we walk, Miyako eventually asks a question.
"So, what's your name anyway?"

This caused a falter in my step as I realised I have no name here.
"Uhm... I'm not quite sure?"

"What does that even mean?"
Met with a weirded out look from Miyako and curious glances from the other three I seem to have no choice but to give an excuse...

"Uhh w-well, I really just don't know? I don't think I've ever had a name..."
That'll do it! They might think I'm pitiable but I'm already homeless so what of it!

But it seems it had a bit more of an effect than I thought it would...
Both Saki and Miyako's eyes widen in surprise as they whip their heads around to me, the whole platoon stopped dead in their tracks leading me to bash my nose against Saki's back.
"You... Have never had a name? At all?"
Miyako said this then sharpened her eyes and nodded at Moe behind me.
In a moment I was lifted in the air by Moe, who was a full 10 centimeters taller than me.

"Ano... W-What's going on right now?"
My confusion would've been visible from an outside perspective as Miyako and Saki begin rummaging through my pockets, it didn't really matter to me because there's nothing in them anyway.

It seems they had finished their search when Miyako gave Moe another nod and I was allowed back on the ground.
After fixing up my clothes, I saw the group of four whispering to each other while glancing my way.

Might as well blank out while I wait...

"Hey, wake up! Don't die on us!"
I was abruptly taken out of my space-gazing from a certain pointman shaking me like you would a crane game.

"Ah, ah yes?!"

"Ah good, thought you passed away on us there"
Saki seemed to sigh in relief at that. These girls truly have active imaginations.

"Someone with no ID, no money, homeless and most of all, no gun... How could we let someone like you starve, that would go against SRT's justice!"
Well, I'm sure I could find some food by digging around in the trash but I'll keep quiet for now.

Moe reached into her pocket and took out a lollipop.
"Here, I have plenty more, this should take your mind off the hunger for now"

Diligently sucking on the lollipop I noticed that the girls aren't surrounding me in formation anymore, perhaps I'm no longer treated as a potential threat, truly devastating news.

It only took half a minute to reach their camp, they seem to have it quite good compared to my bench of operations.

"Miyu, get some of the MREs we were saving for later, we'll have them now"
I heard Miyako say as I was lead to a table with benches.

"Sit here, we'll get you some food and water, make yourself at home"
And so I sat, Moe sat down as well but she doesn't seem too interested in talking.

"So, where's your gun?"
Or so I thought.

"U-Uh... I've never used one..."
That's no exaggeration, Japan has some of the strictest gun laws and I didn't have enough money to take up Airsoft as a hobby, I needed Pyroxene you see.
Moe's mouth was wide enough to bite my head clean off. I didn't think it'd be that shocking but on second thought it makes sense as Blue Arch-
"PERFECT!"
Well, that yell certainly cut out my thoughts.

"Hehehe... If you have no preferences then it'll be easier to show you the joy of explosives!"
Creepy breathing ensues... I'm sorry Moe but if you look like that it'll just scare me away from explosives...

"Moe! Stop scaring the newcomer!"
Saki, who had warmed up the MREs, shouted as she brought them to the table with Miyako and Miyu in tow.

"Sorry, sorry. But isn't it interesting? No gun, no name, no history, not even a phone? It's like she came from some ancient ruin!"

Before the conversation could go on I quickly interrupt.
"Heheh... But enough about me, what a-about your group? I don't even know your names"
Of course, I do actually know them but it'd be strange to, considering SRT's secrecy.

"Oh, I'm Saki, the pointman of RABBIT Platoon, that's Miyako, our leader, Moe, our demolitions expert and hacker"
Uhh, I guess the trope of forgetting about Miyu is actually real.

"I-I'm Miyu! T-The sniper..."
Miyu's unexpected shout caused the other three to snap their heads to her in surprise, clearly having forgotten she was there.

"Sorry Miyu..."
"It's fine..."

After giving a long glance to Miyu, Saki turns back to me with her hands on her hips and a proud expression.
"With that out of the way, we've decided to let you stay here for now!"

Moe, seemingly out of the loop quickly looks up with a slightly shocked expression.
"E-Eh? I didn't hear anything about that... Not that I disagree..."

Miyako cuts into the conversation.
"We discussed it while heating up the meal, however, if she's going to stay here she'll need at least a nickname"

"How about just Five? Honorary fifth member of the RABBIT Platoon."
"Five? That's just a number, she needs an actual name!"

Knowing that this will turn into a foolishly long discussion I quickly speak up.
"Five! F-Five... That's fine with me..."

Saki nods with a smug expression as if saying 'I knew you'd like it' while Miyako subtly shakes her head.
"Alright, if it's fine with you... Welcome to the team, Five"
