Chime. Chime. Chime.

Three distinct ringings. To anyone else, it was just the wind rustling the small brass bell hanging by the balcony window. But to me, that specific number had always felt like a quiet, secret signal from the universe. Three chimes meant a beginning. It meant preparation, alignment, and the quiet before a sudden shift in destiny. The melody of those brass chimes would follow me through every major turning point of my life, ringing out whenever my story was about to change.
But back then, it was just a simple sound marking the start of my ordinary day.

If you were to look at me from the outside, you’d just see a simple high school kid navigating his final year and trying to figure out the future. I live a quiet life with my mother and my little sister.

But beneath that ordinary surface, I carry a massive ambition. It has been my dream for as long as I can remember I want to become an actor. I want to tell stories and move people through performance.

"Ma," I remember saying one evening, sitting at the kitchen table while she was preparing dinner.

"I want to try acting. I want to pursue it seriously."

My mother stopped what she was doing, looking at me with that steady gaze only mothers have. She didn’t shoot me down, but she didn’t sugarcoat it either.

"If you want to build something big, Por, you have to start with the foundation," she said, wiping her hands on a dish towel.

"Acting isn't just about standing in front of a camera. You need to understand rhythm, voice control, and presence. I want to clear your basics first. And the best way to do that is through music. I’ve signed you up for singing lessons."
That was the turning point.

Snap.

“Do-Re-Mi-Fa-So-La-Ti-Do!”

The sharp clapping of our music teacher echoes through the towering space. I am standing right here, in the middle of the high school auditorium, lined up in neat rows among a choir of other children. The teacher stands at the front on a small wooden podium, baton raised high, ensuring perfect harmony.

"From the top, everyone! Breathe from your diaphragm!" she commands.

We take a collective breath, and the piano chords swell against the empty wooden seats.

♪ "I just don't know you yet... ♪
♪ But I know you've been sent from God... ♪
♪ To teach me to love again... ♪
♪ 'Cause I think I must've forgot... ♪
♪ Oh-oh, how to love... ♪
♪ Oh-oh, and how to be loved..." ♪

My voice joins the wave of sound.I focused entirely on getting every note technically perfect, matching the rhythm exactly as taught.

As the music carries on around me, I look directly ahead, having a serious expression.

The piano song finally hits its last chord, and the teacher lowers her baton, signaling for us to stop. Almost instantly, her sharp eyes scan the rows, landing straight on me. Even though I had been attending these classes for what felt like forever, I was always so quiet, hiding in the middle of the crowd, that she consistently forgot I existed.

She stepped down from the podium and pointed a finger in my direction.

"Hey, you. Yes, you right there. What's your name again?"

I straightened my posture, holding my head up high.
"I am Por. Por Suppakaran."

The teacher nodded slowly, crossing her arms as she assessed me.

"Well, Por, you have a beautiful voice. Your pitch is steady, and your technical skills are completely flawless. But..."

She paused, gesturing toward my face.

"You aren't feeling it. You’re singing these deeply emotional lyrics with a total poker face. If you want people to actually listen to you, you can't just be perfect. You have to connect with the words. You have to mean them."

Meanwhile, on the opposite side of the city, a completely different world was waking up.
If Por’s world was defined by quiet discipline, TeeTee’s world was a burst of pure, vibrant energy.

The sound of my alarm cut through the morning waking me up

"Good morning, Mae! Good morning, Pho!" I called out, bouncing into the kitchen with messy hair and a yawn that immediately turned into a grin.

"Eat your breakfast slowly, you're going to choke," my mom scolded, though she was already smiling as she handed me a plate. I traded some quick, playful banter with my dad, grabbed my bag, and practically flew out the door. The morning warmth always feels like an open invitation to just go out and see what happens next.
By the time I hit the school gates, the energy of the day was already in full swing.

"Yo, TeeTee!"

A loud shout echoed across the courtyard, and I looked up to see my friend, Tes waving me over from our usual spot near the benches. I threw my arm around my best friend's shoulder, laughing at a joke I’ve already forgotten, and slipped effortlessly into the noisy, familiar chaos of the hallways
"Man, you missed it! Next chapter’s math homework is practically a death sentence," Tes complained, tossing a heavy textbook into his locker.
I just grinned, nudging him with an elbow. "Please, like you were actually going to do it anyway. Just copy me off later."

"Bold of you to assume your answers will be right!" Ohm chimed in, sparking a loud burst of laughter that echoed off the metal lockers.

Walking down the corridor with them, tossing out teasing remarks to people passing by and soaking in the loud, bright energy around him, he felt completely unstoppable. For him, life didn't need a rigid blueprint. It was just about moving forward, laughing through the halls, and enjoying the light.

Tee didn't know anything about strict voice lessons, empty auditoriums, or a quiet guy named Por

Por didn't know about the boy who carried the bright, effortless warmth of the daytime.

They had absolutely no idea that they were running straight towards each other. The bright spark waiting to meet the silent dark, completely unaware that once their paths finally crossed, neither of them would ever be able to look away.
