Work Text:
Vax stirred awake in the early hours of the morning. He turned toward his companion and allowed himself to smile.
Most people only ever saw Shaun Gilmore with sparkling eyeshadow and elegant robes perfectly draped around him. This was a side of him Vax was still exploring. The side of him that slept so peacefully, snoring gently. The side of him with messy, unkempt hair and morning breath. It was a fragile privilege.
Vax knew he should get back to the others. They would be waiting for him.
With a rueful sigh, Vax slipped out from under the blanket and was immediately hit with how much colder the world outside Shaun’s bed was.
Out of habit, he walked toward the window. It was still dark outside, the streets only lit by the never-dying flames that were kept in small glass cases along the streets. Normally, this was Vax’s favourite time to be out. When the world was quiet and calm and he could almost forget about how cruel it all was. Today, he just wanted to stay in this room, seeking his safety in Shaun’s warm embrace.
He dared to look back at the man that was still snoring peacefully.
Another hour couldn’t hurt.
