Noma sat outside the Bellhome, admiring the flowers she had just planted, brushing dirt off her long, spindly legs. She felt proud of herself, of this beautiful garden she tended to like a child of her own. A patch of foxgloves, an array of tulips and hyacinths glistening with dewdrops, and a raised bed of fruits and vegetables, often used in recipes by her and her partners.
A melodic jingle of small bells; the door to their home opened, and Renati stepped out, smoothing wrinkles out of their clothes. Their voice was bright and affectionate as they spoke.
“Good morning, Noma! How’s the garden? Add anything new?”
Their voice held genuine interest, something Noma had taken a long time to find in any bug.
“O-oh, Renati! Yes, I just planted some blue hyacinths… how’d you sleep, hugbug?”
Renati brightened, stretching their arms exaggeratedly. “Pretty well, despite Usiro’s snoring! Hehehe!”
They snorted a bit when they laughed, a quirk that Noma found utterly adorable. She crossed the lawn over to Renati, leaning down to embrace them warmly.
“How about we have breakfast? You’re the best cook out of us all, and there’s a good harvest of berries in the garden today! Would you help me harvest them?”
Renati bounced slightly in place. “Of course! I’ll go get the basket!”
