The SkyWing Sham

Summary:

Adoptable fic idea

Work Text:

This is based entirely on how in the Dragonet Prophecy graphic novel Glory was depicted as red a bunch and I mistook her for a SkyWing in that fight scene with the other SkyWings.

So the prophecy needs a SkyWing, but they don't have a SkyWing, they have Glory. And Morrowseer is going to be really mad if he finds out that they don't have a SkyWing.

So when he comes to visit, Glory pretends to be a SkyWing, and since Morrowseer can't actually read minds, he's fooled into thinking she is.

Alternatively, the pretending to be a SkyWing thing was an accident because Glory was just really mad and her scales turned that color and it made everyone realize that Morrowseer can't actually read minds if he didn't notice.

Cue deviations from canon.

They don't try to kill Glory because Morrowseer never gave them the order to. So the dragonets don't escape this early, although it might not be that later on. So they probably haven't been caught by Scarlet.

Or maybe after the close call with Morrowseer and the dragonets realizing that if Morrowseer can't read minds, then what if the prophecy's fake too, so they escape and then run into Scarlet and cue book one but with Glory in the arena because they thought she was a SkyWing too.

So maybe Glory wasn't able to hit Scarlet with her venom this time since she's in the arena, or maybe she hit someone else with it. Deviations are fun. But anyway, the next books are more or less the same but with more complicated prophecy stuff because what if it really was fake the whole time so what was the point, and in book three Glory has a whole self-reflection thing where she embraces being a RainWing.

Her brother Jambu's a healer and he's probably more emotionally mature than she is due to Glory's way of dealing with feelings is to ignore them and snark all the time. So Jambu probably helps her understand that she doesn't have to be forced to be someone she isn't, doesn't have to conform to what everyone else says.
